Adoption Tails: Blossom, Sandy and Annabelle

 Blossom, now Rilly - 6546

1 day: Blossom has had a bit to eat and drink but hasn't touched her litter tray yet. The owners will be renaming her to Rilly.

3 days: She hasn't eaten or drunk very much at all and has just been hiding under a shelf. Litter looks untouched. She's rotated between 5 different hiding places so far. The owners will give plain cooked chicken or tuna a try later tonight and will sleep on the couch for the time being to give Rilly more space.

4 days: Rilly took a very small bite of fish to eat overnight and has since settled into a clothing drawer under the bed. In terms of litter use, she's at most used it for a pee, no poop yet.

5 days: She ate a substantial amount overnight but there is a new issue of her peeing on the bed.

1 week: She's a little more settled. Ended up using one of the litter boxes the owners have set up. In terms of eating, she seems to be a little cautious still but should have an appetite now.

6 weeks: She's been hiding behind the couch still. Has been healthily eating and using her litter. The owners found out that she's been finding ways to get inside of the couch which is trouble as they don't know if she is stuck there or perfectly fine. Rilly rotates between 3 spots at the moment, inside the couch, behind the couch and under the couch.

Sandy, now Sandy Kendi and Annabelle

1 day: The owner was a little worried when Sandy first came home yesterday as she completely refused to eat. They went out later to get some cat milk which was resisted for a little while until the owner woke up at 2am to sounds of drinking! Sandy has since had "brunch" and is currently snoring in her blankie. Her new name is Sandy Kendi (pronounced like Candy), a Kenyan name from the owner's community meaning she who loves and is loved. She's eaten and drank water well, already used her litter box and was just snoring away for a good play session by herself with some toys.

3 days: Sandy & the owner have made great progress. By night two, the princess has approved of her new safe spot, safely tucked away in a cat cave behind the makeshift teepee. Sandy independently hopped onto the bed, cleaned herself and is now relaxing. "Total waste of the two beds I got her but not complaining"

Sandy

1 week: Kendi's settled in well. Noticed she loves sleeping to a particular YouTube video in the background. Unfortunately when the owner first got her, she had the sneezes. One week in and she is still getting the sneezes. The owner has bushed her and has been using an air purifier and humidifier with no scents at home but nothing seems to be helping. They've even tried shower steam. She gets full on sneezes (spraying spit and sniffles) and gunk in her eyes.

1.5 weeks: Kendi still has low energy and appetite. The owner has tried different wet foods, mixed with homemade bone broth which she will drink but leaves the solids. She still has gunk in her eyes and the owner suspects she may have ear mites too as she itches and has dark spots in her ears.

3 weeks: Annabelle is settling in much quicker than Kendi. She left her safe spot and explored the room before choosing her safe spot to be the foot of the owner's bed. "Might have to have the stranger danger talk with her." Kendi is a smart girl, she knows there's someone somewhere. She's very curious but has not hissed at Annabelle's scent yet. The owner has set up her second bed by the couch where she likes to snooze with the blanket and pillow so Kendi is getting just as much cuddles and she loves it.

Annabelle

3.5 weeks: Annabelle currently eats adult food mixed with kitten food. However, she would pick the kitten food out which isn't much and try to go to Kendi's bowl to eat. The owner is keeping the bowls separated but the two cats would go and eat each other's food so the bowls are going to be put away shortly after finishing. Annabelle loves to play with craft twines (only under supervision) and she also loves the strings on her hammock more than the hammock itself.

1 month: Annabelle and Kendi are doing great and can be in the same room with no growling and hissing. Annabelle is definitely more loving and follows the owner around, which at first Kendi was jealous of and would give a nasty look but now is usually not too far from Annabelle. Kendi's climbing skills are also getting better almost like "I didn't know we could do that" and does everything Annabelle does. The owner has no regrets getting two cats, no signs of stress but does notice that Annabelle enjoys her quiet time so she has full access to the bedroom for any power naps. She also has access to hammocks out of Kendi's reach which is used after playtime. Kendi also has comfortable baskets of choice in spaces that Annabelle cannot squeeze into for alone time and lots of cuddles when needed.
