Valentina's Day

 Her man came back today and decided that he wanted Valentina not Darcy. Fastest adoption ever. I sent him off with an old litter tray and a scratchy pole from below the couch in the hallway as "adoption freebies". Tim retired for bandaging after getting her into the cat carrier. She even managed to draw blood from his leather-gloved-left-index finger! And achieved a swipe to his left leg. As well as pee-ing on her pillow. (I whipped off the pillowslip, replaced it, and gave it to her new owner too). I believe she will settle down with Colin and be a loving companion.   . . . . . in time.

Irene is about to go overseas for weeks so came in to rearrange as many kittens as possible.

The three kittens in Incoming have moved to Welfare. One of them, Loki, is already earmarked for a very nice man who came in this afternoon. He has a white and ginger cat at home who needs a ginger and white friend. Loki will be perfect.

Jellybean went to the vet and passed so he has been moved to where Jimmy was. I expect he will have the same short stay as Jimmy did because he is a loving spoonful too.

When Angelica came in she wouldn't eat anything but crunchies. Now, after 2 weeks with us, she only eats babycat wet food.

And the two kittens with Japanese names are just the same.

Cordelia has moved from Isolation to Incoming.. . . no signs of ringworm on her.

And we have another "pregnant" mum in Incoming. She really looked as though she had swallowed a football when she was photographed on the street that she was picked up from. But will she absorb that bulge just like Chicken and Goosey have done? A woman came in with some nice donations. Her name is Lorraine so we decided to name the new "mum" after her. But then she said that her nickname was Roxy and we chose that one instead for her.

 Were adoped today. Roy, being the littlest available, was no surprise. And a fosterer came in to do the adoption of their foster kitten who they are going to rename Marmite (used to be Porridge).

And more kittens are in Incoming.

This little one was dropped of by a woman who was en route from Sydney to Brisbane when she let the kitten out of the car to have a poo and it ran under another car. She realized that they might not make it home. She had taken on the kitten who was with a pair of young cats: mum and granny or aunty? with a friend. The older cats had been taken off to be desexed. She had taken on the kitten and combed out her fleas.

Goodness knows what she was feeding the kitten on because she has refused Mother and Baby Cat all day. Sharon got her to eat a sachet of chicken risotto (nice and sloppy). I tried her on some cat milk without success. But she wolfed up the Mother and Baby cat crunchies. . . at the end of the day probably because she was really hungry. Should we call her Risotta?

The only carton of milk I could find was a large one so I shared it with other kittens. There is more in the fridge. Calli's four in Isolation: them with the busted door catch. (The door is pushed closed by a pile of boxes/cat carriers that push against it. . . . not very effectively. Today they escaped out of Isolation and explored the store room and Incoming before being rounded up. They might have ringworm. So the front half of Safe was fogged as soon as everybody left. ) A saucer of milk is a great distraction for them while you try to feed them and keep them in their condo. It is a job for a 6 armed warden.

There are two other new, nameless kittens in Incoming. Don't know what their story is. Neither do I like the look of that nose!

Neither Chicken or Goosy have had their kittens. . . . yet.

At home, Romeo is settling in. He spends lots of time sprucing himself up for his potential adopter.

 He went over the weekend. Don't know who was the brave soul. It must have taken an effort to get him into a cat carrier. I really hope he will live happily ever after in his new home.

And today Tweed was adopted. He was not put as bonded to Roy and a lady came in wanting a young cat to bond with her Burmese who is mourning the loss of the older cat who has recently died of a sudden disease. The Burmese is bereft. There is another cat in the family who just lives outside but the Burmese shouldn't go out. So . . . . get another kitten!

Astrid was needy today. I think she was cold. Being cuddled in Sue's warm scarf pleased her.

The "pregnant" mums in Incoming haven't dropped any kittens. Chicken eats everything she is given.

And Goosy (the second ?pregnant cat who arrived last week without a name so I named her Goosy to keep Chicken company. . . . and give us more fun making up names). .  she looks a bit less flu-filled.
