Adoption Tails: Winnie, Flaco, Jitterbug, Jessie and Jack

 Winnie

1 day: Winnie is settling in really well. She was on the ground exploring since Day 1 and was not interested in staying in her safe room. She also slept on the bed with the owners on the first night. Has been an angel. She has been a little sniffly, possibly due to a change in environment. She has been eating, drinking and using her litter. The owners will keep her name as she is used to it and it has grown on them!

 

3 days: The owners noticed she does not eat very frequently. She does eat but it's when she feels like it so sometimes they have to throw out her wet food if it has been sitting out for too long.

1 week: Winnie's been enjoying her wet food so far. She eats wet food 3x a day and dry food 2x a day. She does drink water quite often as well.

1 month: She's going great!

Flaco, now Moji

1 day: Flaco is doing well! He has been eating everything the owners have given him but not really drinking. They are considering a water fountain if he does not get used to a water bowl. They are also thinking of switching to a clumping litter after letting him transition.

1 week: Flaco is going really well and settling in. He has done a few walks in the other rooms and getting used to it. Some days he doesn't feel like exploring and just sleeps a lot. He is the most affectionate cat and loves to sleep on or next to the owner. 

 1 month: Flaco is now Moji and he is flourishing! He was so skittish before and now he is so playful, affectionate and curious. He plays hide and seek with the owners, has learnt many tricks as he is very food motivated and seeks affection like very intense nose boops and belly rubs.

Jitterbug, now Cookie

1 day: She is doing great! Eating well, pooing and sleep. Enjoys being stroked a lot. The family has renamed her Cookie. The mum has realised they've been overfeeding her for a little bit for the first 2 days and is working out the appropriate amount. "She absolutely wolfed down her lunch like we were starving her".

1 month: Cookie is doing great! She seems pretty happy and loves attention at times. Definitely likes her space too, though. The owners thought they might've left harness thing too late - won't have a bar of them even though she seems very interested in the patio. They might build her a little enclosure so she can lie in the sun a little if she wants to.

Jessie & Jack, now Gigi & Jack

1 day: The kitties are doing well! They are both eating (wet & dry food) and are using the litter tray regularly. The owner is seeing their personalities shine through more and more each day, "couldn't imagine my life without them now!" The owner has changed Jessie's name to Gigi (which she is responsive to) and Jack will remain as Jack. They have both come out of their safe space and are frolicking through the place like they own it. "I couldn't be happier with how well they have settled in and warmed up to me."

 1 week: They're going really well! The owner gets to see more and more of their personalities everyday.

1 month: They've settled in so beautifully! The owner keeps seeing new quirks in their personalities everyday and she honestly now cannot imagine her life without them! They've both incredibly affectionate and VERY chatty.

 

Grey Guy

 We had an efficient cleaning team and a quiet visitor day. Plus Katie's cats have all gone home. I imagine that everybody is happy to be there.

One visitor was Rose who brought in a grey cat with a story that Helen, Tim and Irene knew all about it. He is desexed but has no papers. She left bags of fruit, etc for Tim and Irene and "lunch" for Helen. The grey cat was sweet and friendly so I accepted him.

When Helen arrived, she denied all knowledge of the cat. When she called Irene, Irene said "Oh, Rose" or words to that effect. I put him into the condo where Cuddlepie used to be in Incoing.

Cuddlepie got moved because Irene will bring three of her foster cats in tonight. She wants them to be close so that they can play together in the Top Cat. So I moved Cuddlepie to above Jack and Jessie. I don't think she likes having two windows of her hiding box exposed.

Jitterbug doesn't seem to be missing Falco. In fact, she was more friendly today than when he was around.

Jessie and Jack will be available soon. Perhaps we should auction them off to the highest bidder.

Sterling and Dorian are available. They really liked Jack who had a wander (with hidey holes in stratchy polls blocked by packs of puppy pads).

There is a new, lovely ginger boy Clyde in Incoming. He has had teeth out so is on wet food. And his coat is a bit patchy. I hope we don't have another food sensitive ginger.

Champion Day

 Charlie and Champ have been adopted. They are still with us. But will be picked up tomorrow when Tim is around to 1. read their microchip numbers and 2. put them into the large carrier that may be their special hiding place for some time in their new home. Their owner is thrilled to bits. Her previous cat died at 17 years old and she fell in love with C & C when she visited on Sunday. 

And the woman interested in Winnie will definitely come to adopt her on Friday.

There are new kittens: 3 orphans who are impossible to take a photo in focus.

Malteser, Snicker, Butterscotch

 

Chelsea's number of kittens dropped to 2 but is now back to 5. She has taken over Missy's kittens because Missy doesn't have any milk. No photo. Chelsea doesn't like to be disturbed. Missy is in Isolation surrounded by bowls of different food which she ignores.

There are new adults in Incoming:

Robbie is an 11 year old who is traumatised by being with us. He cowers in a corner but is quite happy to be patted gently. Cats hate change.

Sesame has come in from foster. I swapped the stand alone by the far door of Welfare where she was to go for LeClerc's position. Now he can monitor the coming and going through the door and she can quail in the corner.
