Adoption Tails: Polly

 Polly, now Lua

1 day: Polly is settling in amazingly, she seems happy and doesn't seem to have any issues adjusting to her new home. She's been eating and drinking regularly and has used her litter a bunch too.

 1 month: Polly is going really well here, she's settling in right at home. The owners have decided to rename her Lua. "Thank you guys for everything you do."

Akira

1 day: He is settling in well and has been eating, etc. The only concern is that he has been sneezing a lot and has weeping eyes.

3 days: He's still sneezing a bit like he has a cold.

 

1 week: He's settling in well and eating lots. Only thing is that the teary eyes and occasional sneezing is still ongoing. The yellow/brown discharge from his eyes has to be wiped daily. He's enjoying sleeping in his cat tower and has been sleeping with the owners. Only hiding in occasion.

No 1 month response.

Little One

Little One

 1 month: He's settled in very well. Very vocal when he wants attention and always following the owner about his own home.

Simba

1 day: Simba is settling is so much better than expected. The moment the owners let him out, he wandered everywhere around the house and then hid under the bed. He came out for dinner the same night and slept beside the owner's feet on the first night and on their feet the next night. He is so adorable and definitely has a very good personality. He has no problem eating, drinking water and using the litter tray.

1 week: He is much more relaxed, lying here and there in the house. He is eating and drinking well. Even lets the owners groom him but not for long. 

Simba

 1 month: Simba is doing well and grows a closer bond with the owners.

Sara

1 day: She's doing alright. The owner set her all up with everything she needs, she stayed in her carrier for a while. She was under the bed in the morning. The owner only noticed a little bit of food had been eaten.

1 week: It's going all good, just going to take a little time for both cats to get used to each other.

 1 month: Sara is going really well. She loves the owner's resident cat Emma. They're both really playful and sometimes Emma will try and chase Sara around. She gets more comfortable everyday having a new friend around. Sara is becoming more trusting everyday, and has been coming up close to the owner and licks treats off her hand. The owner actually only got the first quick little pat on her head the other night which was very exciting.

 

I should have listened to Catsie

 Everybody else came early today so by the time Catsie arrived all the best jobs were taken. I had filled the sink in the kitchen for the empty cat food tins to soak in. So Catsie got to clean them and put them in an empty, large plastic bag for me to take home to my recycling bin. She said, when I arrived with more empty tins, that she should have a second bag because the first was full. I shaked the tins down and said "She'll be right, carry on".

On the way out this afternoon, I was toting that bag, a full bag of washing, my lunch box, hand bag, raincoat, etc, etc . . . . . and the inevitable happened. I dropped the tin bag and out at least half of them leaped and clattered joyously. Fortunately there was a small crowd of young men from inside the car shop and loading zone to rush to this old lady's aid. 

They are safely in my recycle bin now and Ella, the dog next door stuck her nose under the gate to say "Thank you" to Catsie for the not too terrible smell of cat food.

Apart from that is was the usual busy day. Forgot/didn't get around to taking any photos. The exciting thing was a woman who came to check out Mia. I emphasized how much she had improved over the (years) time she has been with us. But Mia was sitting on a top shelf. She is not so amenable to pats up there. The lady met all the other older cats. Chad behaved splendidly. Robbie cried piteously that he was a stolen cat and wanted to go HOME. And she ended up cuddling a pair of boy kittens next door to Mia. She has gone home to check out the website and think about it. 

The flood of boarders is about to start. I moved Bissie into Welfare so her condo can be used for a boarder. She behaved herself well but is not happy.

Tango's sore leg is all better. She alternated between almost drowning in the big fluffy bed and leaping around her condo.

If Mia's lady comes back in a month or so Tar will be ready.

And to prove that you don't HAVE to be pretty to get adopted. . .  . Polly was adopted over the weekend.

Still too many bags

 There are still bags on the verandah even though the Couzins bins are full and two Willoughby bins in the basement are full. It will be stinky if this hot spell persists.

But we cats have been adopted. Billy and Oliver went today and Camille will be picked up on Dec 9. We have new cats as well. Polly in Welfare was found tick bitten. She had a microchip but the previous owners declined to take her back. She looks a bit moth eaten because of the shave job to get at the tick.

And Fluff and Duff have had a change of name. Duff is now Tongo and she has been desexed.

Tilly's kittens were all cuddled together in one triangular hammock today. That was before I put them into separate carriers to feed them their nasty medicine for ringworm.

It is very good weather for ringworm: hot and humid. Some of our fosterer's kittens have it too.
