Chalk likes chicken

Or he thought he did when I gave him a small bit. But when I gave him the dish to lick out, he was a bit confused. I moved the meat to his dish and he ate a bit. But then he settled down in his hammock looking much more relaxed.

Chalk (pity the phone focussed on the bars not on the cat)

Jasmine brought in her two foster cats. .. . the family is travelling so there won't be enough folk left at home to look after Pebbles and Tilly. They did, eventually, come out of their carry case.

Pebbles and Tilly
Borealis was adopted this afternoon. Her tummy is looking better than it did on Wednesday. Her new people were thrilled. (There is a photo on the Safe phone.)

I counted cats before she went and got to 86 in Safe Haven. Don't know how many carriers we have.

The Voonies are much more lively. Very interested in their food. And mum is not a shy.

Voonies at play
Piglet down below them can run really fast. She took off out of her condo. Did a dash under the desks and circled back to her condo in a twinkling.

Chloe still has mucky eyes. She is being treated. And one of the other C kittens she came in with has it too. She is doing a great job in frilling the edge of her box.

Chloe
Tyler's foggy eye looks better.
Tyler

And I gave Ruby and Bruce a larger hammock because their second one lost a tie. They love having a bigger bed to snuggle in. Kind of hard to tell where each cat stops and starts. . . they just flow together.

No poo bags!

We have cleared the backlog. There is space in one Willoughby bin and one empty Willoughby bin in the basement! And there are no boarders to add to the poo pile. Plus lots of cats were adopted over the weekend including Minty, the birthday girl who must have been with us for more than 2 years. Her sister Rascal is still with us. And Rosie was adopted. Roxie, her mum, doesn't seem perturbed.

I moved Wolfgang into Enclosure 1. It smelled just fine before I did. But it smelled of entire male soon after he moved in. Let's hope that odour does not persist. He got used to more space, slowly,

Wolfgang

There is a new cat in Better Row called Mimi. Kath introduced herself to Mimi and had a friend for life within seconds.

Mimi

This was after she assembled over a dozen new folders for more adoptions this week, please.

There are four lovely H kittens who are ready to go (as soon as the paperwork is uploaded). They are in the corner condo under where Tilly was.

Harry and Harvey

Harlow and Hazel

The highlight of a slow afternoon was that PC claimed his chair and was pestered by folk trying to help him clean himself up.

New drawers

. . . or as close to it as we will get. Peter came in this afternoon with Irene. She had brought back the drawer that collapsed. It was mended. He did it. So. . . . I asked him to mend the rest of them. And HE DID IT.

The order of the contents has changed but the important things . . . the folders used for adoptions. . . are in the middle drawer.

Talking of which. . . . Angel was adopted yesterday. I hope it was to the bloke who rang three times on Wednesday to tell me that he was coming to get Angel on Saturday.

I was showing visitors around and when I introduced her to Rory. He was hiding in his bed box. I looked under his rug and saw that his claw was caught in a plastic ball with holes. I took Rory to Tim . . the man with the magic cat hands. Eventually we realised that Rory's finger pad was caught, swollen, in one of the holes of the ball. I fetched a hammer. Tim with gentle taps flattened the ball and Rory's finger pad was released.

Rory

He really seems to be the cat to whom bad things happen. Despite that, he is a sweetie.

All the hard balls with small holes were discarded.

A visitor this afternoon fell in love with Cheese. She comes frequently. Perhaps this will stick.

Cheese

And there was telephone discussion about Cullen, the 17year old ragdoll on Better Row. I discovered that his coat is badly matted towards his rear. He may not be an easy adoption.

Cullen
And for my last C of the week: Charlotte has moved into Tilly's condo. I "groomed" the North Pole scratchy pole for her because we don't seem to have a surplus of them at the moment.

Charlotte is not impressed

Amazing number of adoptions

So far this month we are up to 17, I think Sue said.

Rosie and Callie were adopted over the weekend. As was Tilly of the North Pole so named because she was given a scratchy pole for 2024 Xmas. She wasn't even available last Friday.

There has been magic done. (Thank you Irene)

Of course, we have new cats to fill the gaps.

In Incoming there is a charming family with two mums and 4 kittens. I doubt even the mums know who is who.

Then there is Charlotte. Black cats seem to be a thing. (Not to mention clipped ears to signify desexed)

I moved Cheese from Better Row to Welfare. He was happy to get a bigger room with a better view.

And Cullen

And Claire. . . . complete the C series.

Almost. . . . but there is a spare Cookie to add.

Thanks for the great photos Joy.

Four Tillys

There were four Tillys at Safe this afternoon. One came in with her brothers from a foster home to get their shots, etc. The two boys (Baxter and bro) were adopted by the fostering family. Their sister Tilly was left behind. She went into the condo opposite to Peaches because Fawney was adopted yesterday. (Her kittens had all gone by Wednesday). That condo is below Tilly the mum who is not yet available because she hasn't forgiven us for the days of her litter.

Neighbour Tillys
But new Tilly won't be there tomorrow. Irene will take her home and give her back to the foster family. Their neighbors want to adopt her. But are away on holiday. So the fosterers will take her back home until the neighbours get home and can adopt her .. . . . . it get complicated at Safe!
temporary Tilly
There were lots of other visitors. Milky Way got lots of attention. I will be surprised if he doesn't get adopted tomorrow (by Terry).
Milky Way

And a young girl chose Sebastian after considering all the other possibilities who could go with the previous cat they got from us. The parents were delighted.

It seems that Aurora and kittens in Isolation do have ring worm. And Squeek's tail is suspicious.

Bugger.

 Tis the Season!

One less

I didn't take any photos except for Nahla today. Because she was looking so cute.

Nahla

 Thank goodness for Joy's photos.

Tilly must be sick of all the fuss at every meal time made by Biscuit and Milly. They fight over food.

Tilly

Biscuit and Milly

 Next door to B & M are Maple and Benny. . . another B & M!

Maple and Benny (who is who?)

They are very civilized compared with their neighbours. And friendly.

Irene was trying to guage whether or not Renny and Blossom are bonded. I say no. Others say yes. We need individual kittens made available for adoption for the coming school holidays.

Renny and Blossom
Irene may take one of them home to destress.

Peaches is the one who needs to be tamed. She has had it with us.

Peaches

This afternoon I fed in Incoming and discovered that one of Autumn's kittens was dead because Autumn was out of her bed box and happily stayed on the shelf. When I look closely at the photo I took on Wednesday there are only 5 kittens suckling. The sixth was probably dead then. She (a calico) probably died last week. She was very small and still had some umbilical cord attached. The trouble with overprotective mums is that we can't check out their kittens closely.

Aslan report:

He likes the warmer weather.

Codie wins

The grass eating effort! On Wednesday, I distributed pots of grass grown for our cats by Joan. Most of them didn't appreciate her effort. But Codie ate most:

Codie is not prepared to be photographed
Darcy done good too.

Darcy

As did Tilly.

Tilly

And Sydney and Phoenix (even though they won't stand still for a photo).

Sydney & Phoenix

Pepper and Dixie did well. But Pepper did better because she was adopted today. Chosen by a preteen for her birthday present.

She has gone to live in Darlinghurst.

Almost made it

I arrived very early at Safe this morning. Before the Willoughby bins had come. I would be able to put a trolley load, or two, of our bags into other peoples bins, I thought gleefully.

Two of the 5 in the stand alone in Incoming who are now loving the Play Place

But when I opened the Welfare door, a kitten whisked itself across the floor. Spagetti and co's door wasn't closed and they had spent the night running around. It took me some time to get them all back into their condo. Spagetti was especially difficult. Just like the last piece of spagetti on your plate when you can't use your fingers to scoop it up.

By the time they were back "home" and I had wheeled a trolly load of bags down to the sidewalk, the truck had come and emptied all the rubbish bins. Sigh.

But, yesterday Helen tracked down our missing Willoughby bin. Unit 8 had been using it. So I whisked it into the garage and later laminated three hand-drawn "19"s for each side and the front where Willoughby puts the unit labels. Let's hope that will warn unit 8 off!

Kitten in Incoming who only ate crunchies when she arrived but now won't touch them

Plump Calli who was recently moved under tough Tilly was adopted over the weekend. And Griffin was adopted this afternoon by a couple who took AGES to make up their minds even though they were only looking at him.

We only had 6 vollies this morning and they worked really hard. Two lots of boarders went home and I got their condo's sterilized while Sue was attending to Griffin's people. We will miss June. But we have Aziza back as a boarder. She is in Tiger's condo, in the gods just adjacent to the Palace where she used to be with her kittens. She is plump and much loved.

Didn't have time to take any photos except for Julie and Bass who were  posing. Earlier they had been hissing at their noisy neighbours (the kittens from Isolation). There was a gap in the "curtain" between the enclosures. I pushed a bit of cardboard to cover the gap so they can't see what Julie and Bass are up to in their igloo. Those photos seem to have disappeared when I sent them from my phone to my email. So I will just drop in some left-over Joy photos.
