Going, going

 The conference room (aka the junk room) is half empty.  The shelves on the right hand side have all gone (along with the boxes of gloves. But I am assured that there is a box of gloves somewhere). I couldn't find Lola this morning. She wasn't waiting for me at the front door. But when it was her turn to be fed, she appeared like magic.

There were only a few vollies but they did a splendid job and even though the mop is broken the place sparkled at the end of the day.

We had one customer. . . a young couple. He said that she had promised him they would have a cat before kids five years ago when they got married. They went around everybody. Every cat loved them. Including Peanut.

They took photos. I sent them to the cafe next door to decide. The came back and adopted Bruce and Ruby. They will be very happy.

Kath did the adoption which went well until it came to printing out the Adoption Contract. Because Ruby has just turned 1 year old, the system has a hissy fit and doesn't process it to the end. It has happened before. (But not to Kath or me). But Kath worked around it and they took the cats off. 

On my way home I dropped by the new premises which look much better in real life than in photos. Geoff was there working away with Tim and Sue. Most of the new enclosures are erected so I was able to install one hammock in each. When they are all there, I will add extras because there are no shelves yet.

 He is back from foster and just as cuddle-able as when he went. Others came back from Kym's as well. She has been a huge help with shuttling cats from the shelter to and from vets and has had many of our cats living at her house. Many thanks Kym.

 Geoff visited today and showed up photos of the new shelter and talked of all the plans he has offered to help with. Thank you Geoff. The move will start on May 7 and be finalized on May 17. It will be an interesting 10 days.

 The only photo I took today was as I was checking waters at the very end of the day. Eleanor, in Incoming, was calmly stirring her water bowl on the shelf below with her tail.

 

She has three kittens, Ebony (the black one) and the tabbies Erica and Evie.

There are four identical champagne kittens in Isolation. They seem to be very well. . . so far. 

And I have been saving this photo of Autumn. She is still on wet only food. . . . hence the lean and hungry look. But the leaves on the Liquidamber along our driveway are turning so it is appropriate to include her.

 

Not Seasoned

 The escapee Salt or Pepper is still at large. Tomorrow the cat trapper extraordinaire is to come to do her magic.

The unescaped seasoned cat is getting tamer by the day. Perhaps he should be called Salt and the escapee should be Pepper.

Last month we adopted out 43 cats and kittens (or was it 42. . . . either way it was brilliant work!)

Today the couple who adopted Othello came back for a companion for him. They think he needs a friend. So they chose Octavia. The husband loved her on sight and cuddled her happily. Meantime, the wife looked at the cat in the next stand alone, Biscotti (I think. This kitten came from a foster home and is very chill). She fell in love. They couldn't agree on which kitten to take home to Othello so decided to take them both.

On the way home, it turns out, Octavia had a funny turn. They took her to Pymble vet (after they got home) and we will get the bill.

So I cleaned those two stand alones and, as instructed, moved the L kittens from Incoming. Let's hope they have left their sloppy poos way behind them. These three girls were delighted with their more spacious accommodation and played and played.

Rory is not looking well. He is on eye ointment which cats hate.

And we have a new tiny kitten, Earl who is not eating properly. You have to put the food into his mouth before he will try it. This afternoon I rearranged his condo so that his food bowl was at the same level as he was sitting on his hottie. Earlier the food needed to be reached down to and I don't think he was confident enough to try that. We will see if he has nibbled on his small patches of different foods overnight.

The mum and her 5 kittens is now Mum Fae plus 4. When I arrived this morning her kittens were rolled up in a rug and she was out of the sleeping box. . . . probably wondering where she had stashed/buried them.

Happy Birthday David

 Thanks to David I have photos from today. I left both my camera and my phone at home this morning. It is Sharon's fault because I was asked to fill in for her. . . . she is away which is why we have Gary back with us. 

So I got up early (and left stuff at home) and did the Full Friday ADM. It was terrific. The vollies work so well together and they spend quality time with the cats at the end of their shift. Even Dory was enticed to come forward to get some creamy treat from a hand held offering!

No adoptions today. We have stored our potential for Terry tomorrow.

David was delighted to meet the new cat in Incoming who was accepted before she dropped 5 kittens. She is a sweetie so we are thrilled to have her and her tiny, 2 day olds.

As it is his birthday, David got to name her and chose Faye. The last time we had a Faye was in 2022. That Faye only had 2 kittens. We will have to come up with 5 F names when we know who is boy and which is girl.

No Lunch

 I wasted spent a lot of time this afternoon updating the vollie's name tags. The wee box that they live in has become very tight and most of the names in it are of vollies who have "retired". So I asked Rosanna for an updated list of vollies names and went through the box pulling out the uncurrent names and writing the new current names. It is amazing what a difference that has made to the number of cards that are current. But, if you can't find your name in the alphabetical sorting, go through the stack of cards at the back of the box. You may well still be there!

One adoption today to the woman who confessed to having visited 10 times before deciding whom she wanted to take home with her. David did the deed. They all went home happy. . . . see multiple social media posts.

 Another visitor couple were looking for a kitten even though they are older. He is mostly in a wheelchair and she is lively. They liked Phoebe (Valentina's last wobbly kitten). Unfortunately they have a scheduled "away" time until Wednesday. But the probability of Phoebe still being available when they return is 95%.

Irene anticipates that 5 kittens will be adopted tomorrow. (Not including Phoebe.)

Georgie, the female G, went to be desexed today but did not survive the anaesthetic.  . . . something congenital. Rather like Grayson's missing back leg. The rest of the family is getting more relaxed and friendlier by the day.

 While on G kittens: I tried to clean up Gary who gets drops put into his ear twice a day. Of course, he shakes them out onto his divine ginger coat. I gave that coat a good wipe with damp paper towel this afternoon. It didn't do much good.

 Late this afternoon (when I checked that everybody had enough water to drink overnight) Lilli came out of her bed box. She is such a pretty cat with GREEN eyes.

 And the new kittens who arrived on Wednesday are Caramel: tabby & white paws, Cheetah: tabby with white nose, Fluffy: DMH and, our named, Panther: black.

I have made two more hammocks to replace the ones that were thrown out from Nutmeg's enclosure.

Maggot season

 Is upon us. It doesn't help that the balcony was piled higher than I have ever seen it. There was not enough space in the bins for the maggoty bags. Some of the younger bags had to be left on the balcony because all the bins were all full.

Comes of all the boarders going home and 7 adoptions this past weekend. There have been 50 adoptions already this year. Well done us all.

And PC is back. He is very thin and he has given up grooming his rear half. We will have to help him with that because he seems to be as sweet as he ever was. He has been in his foster home for a year. And was with us for a year before that.

Three of the spice girls are due to be desexed tomorrow. So they will all have a late breakfast. Nutmeg is looking forward to a rest. I think this tuxedo is a boy.
