Piglet's new skill

 is standing on shoulders.

Piglet

Tim's new skill is numbering enclosures.

The numbers start at Lola and Pixie on the wall away from the office closest to the line of AWL condos.

And end at 36 where Salt and Pepper are finally coming out from behind the sheets.

Across the way is Rascal in 37 to Clover in 39. Roxie is in 40 across the gap with Julie and Bassuria beside her in 41. The old AWL condos start with Marcy and Indie in 21 with Cheeto below in 22 and end with Peanut (aka Princess) at the other end of the line in 29.

Upstairs Dinesh is in D3. I assume (didn't look) that Raphaella (on the other side of the door) is in D1, etc. Raven is in D7.

Across the aisle, S1 has a boarder, Olive who moved in today. She didn't take long to settle into a hammock. (Which shows bravery because most cats wouldn't have ever seen a hammock before).

Olive
Gideon is at the end of that row of enclosures in S5. This afternoon he was curled up so tight you couldn't see his ears.

First shift at the new place

The three vollies who came to Mona Vale had to search out all the bits and pieces that they needed. Some things were missing  . . . . like rubbish bins and aprons. But they improvised and did a splendid job. They deserved two photos -- one at each end of out large downstairs space.

Thanks guys. Most of the cats have settled down after their big day on Friday. Some haven't. Salt and Pepper are still ready to bolt. Chalk is a happy chappy and Ume just wants a cuddle.

One third gone

It started out as a normal day except for the instruction to not add any litter to any litter tray because cats will be moved and their litter discarded. Then mid morning volunteer drivers started arriving and Irene's Peter came in with Terry to coral cats into carriers.

Then I had a thought. Why not put the cat's litter into the plastic food bags that have been saved for lo these many years in the bin under the feeding table. It worked: that bin is almost empty now, the rubbish bins are full and there are no bags on the balcony and the cats have a familiar smell of self in their new home.

Thanks Kath for photos taken while the first arrivals were settled into Mona Vale. Bonnie is in a corner by herself (because of her ring worm). She had to be collected especially because she was forgotten in a carrier in Isolation. In her new naughty corner she was having a lovely time and tore her name tag off her stand alone.

Bonnie
Chalk seems to have settled in right away. I will try to get the cats more cuddled in with sheet covers tomorrow.

Salt and Pepper are back together in an enclosure. Salt is NOT HAPPY. She looks as though she will rip the arm off anybody who tries to open the door in her rush to get away.  (Again.)

I think this is Umi. Because I had to tie up her hammocks this evening.

What is left at Roseville? I counted 55 cats. There were 86 on Wednesday.

And there is a bit of washing up. (One of the lovely transporters washed all the dishes while waiting for Peter to catch her car load of cats.)

Jerry gone

There were lots of vollies this morning so the work got done early and very well. And the vollies got to spend extra time with the cats. Which paid off:

Dory accepted a pat

A couple of visitors arrived to replace their elderly, unwell cat with a kitten. . . . culture shock ahead. She had done her homework on our blog and he had chosen the last cat they had so it was her turn to pick. So she fancied Sumi but Jerry fancied his beard. It is a long, multi-coloured beard. Jerry and he played and smooched. Sumi and she cuddled calmly.

I took them out back to meet Mouse who looked calm and unconcerned (thank goodness her breast feeding hormones have gone!)

Mouse
He won. They took home Jerry. (Let's hope they change her name to Gerry.  . short for Geraldine.)

Irene gave Nutmeg's kittens an anti fungal bath and checked them all over for lesions. None were found. So they have been moved into the Palace. I suspect they will discuss a plot with Ravyn overnight. So be warned for tomorrow morning!

And there was discussion about putting Salt and Pepper back together again. But I think they are better apart.

Caught!

The runaway cat was back in Incoming. The expert cat trapper got him (I guess). He has a banged up nose from the trap but is otherwise well. When I took the chicken around this afternoon he came out of his bed box in Incoming to get his share. (He'd been in hiding before that.) And "they" have labelled him/her Salt. Which means that the gradually getting friendly/confident one on Better Row is Pepper.

I was called in early because Ainsley who was doing Friday morning because Sharon is away, needed to get away early. No problem, I thought. It is Good Friday and the traffic should be minimal. But then I got stuck behind a line of bicyclists on the Bends! I did get to Safe in time to hand out morning tea to the littles.

And to take a call from a woman who wanted to make sure that we were open so that she could come in to get an adult cat to replace her dearly beloved cat who died of unwell not-so-old age. She warned me that she was bringing her husband, sister and another for support! We did lots of cuddling with the older cats and she eventually chose. . . . the last H kitten!

I think it is a perfect match. David did the adoption paperwork.

You can tell that my camera has died. I will add some of Joy's photos from Wednesday. . . . after one of Aslan, looking superior. I am to look after PC next week for a few days while his foster carer travels. I hope they remember that they like each other.

Aslan
Rory no longer needs to have nasty ointment put into both of his eyes. Poor fellow would so love to live a quiet life.

Rory
Roxie has been demoted from her enclosure to a single condo on Better Row. She is no happier (or unhappier) there. But she is directly behind the condo in Boarding where her daughter Rosie is boarding with a very fancy collar on! (I did take a photo but the camera carked).

Not Seasoned

The escapee Salt or Pepper is still at large. Tomorrow the cat trapper extraordinaire is to come to do her magic.

Seasoning set-up (as viewed from our balcony)
The unescaped seasoned cat is getting tamer by the day. Perhaps he should be called Salt and the escapee should be Pepper.

Last month we adopted out 43 cats and kittens (or was it 42. . . . either way it was brilliant work!)

Today the couple who adopted Othello came back for a companion for him. They think he needs a friend. So they chose Octavia. The husband loved her on sight and cuddled her happily. Meantime, the wife looked at the cat in the next stand alone, Biscotti (I think. This kitten came from a foster home and is very chill). She fell in love. They couldn't agree on which kitten to take home to Othello so decided to take them both.

On the way home, it turns out, Octavia had a funny turn. They took her to Pymble vet (after they got home) and we will get the bill.

So I cleaned those two stand alones and, as instructed, moved the L kittens from Incoming. Let's hope they have left their sloppy poos way behind them. These three girls were delighted with their more spacious accommodation and played and played.

Larissa, Lyra and Liana: the dark torties
We also have a Lina in a stand alone.

Lina the calico
Poor Tsuki is all alone in his double condo.

Tsuki
I expect he will be moved by Friday.
Rory is not looking well. He is on eye ointment which cats hate.

Rory
And we have a new tiny kitten, Earl who is not eating properly. You have to put the food into his mouth before he will try it. This afternoon I rearranged his condo so that his food bowl was at the same level as he was sitting on his hottie. Earlier the food needed to be reached down to and I don't think he was confident enough to try that. We will see if he has nibbled on his small patches of different foods overnight.

The mum and her 5 kittens is now Mum Fae plus 4. When I arrived this morning her kittens were rolled up in a rug and she was out of the sleeping box. . . . probably wondering where she had stashed/buried them.

Fae + 4

Note to Sharon: When Lucas and Gary get into a serious rumble, one shot from a water bottle at Lucas calms him down.

Sue on Friday

She came because she couldn't come on Wednesday (car problems) and had a ADM to train. And a Tim to talk to. Good to see her even though she can't see us quite as well as before her op. It will improve. The trainee got to watch Sharon adopting Minette (in the stand alone beside the O's) to a girl and her mum. They were all entranced by those whiskers.

Salt/Pepper, the escapee, is still on the loose.

Our Friday vollie (who slowly loved on Kitty until she was an acceptable adoptee ie she actually loved him so much she was prepared to like other humans including a stranger) has moved on to Dory. Goosey was easy-peasy for him. She now accepts pats from everybody. Dory is more of a challenge. He worked with small bits of the squeezy soft food on the floor and gradually Dory came forward to eat them. I noticed at dinner time that Dory was more relaxed. (?Full of squeezy food.)

My camera is defunct. When I took photos with my phone it ran out of juice. But here is Nutmeg who was found talking to Lola earlier in the day. . .. in the front foyer.

Nutmeg

Cookie and Marmalade are resigned to their boring stand alone. . . . except when somebody passes with food.

Cookie and Marmalade

Don't know why nobody has adopted the last of the H litter:

Harlow and Hudson

Or the last G kitten, either.

Thanks to Joy for her three finger photos on Wednesday for Peanut:

Look at those whiskers!
And Cheeto and Luna . . . are they related?

Quick post

This will have to be quick because I have a committee meeting by Zoom in 15 minutes.

We had a donation this afternoon from a deceased estate. Luckily it included a bag of pine litter because we are down to our last bag.

The daughter is visiting from the UK. If she was living here she would have taken the O boy who with his 2 sisters has been moved to the stand alone beside the door. That is a popular spot at the moment for adoptions!

Odysseus is all by himself on Better Row.

But that is the exciting place to be. One of Salt and Pepper escaped from the condo below and took off over the balcony. Last seen running across the drive and up the passageway behind Building 1. Tim has set up a trap just across from the garage below us. The food in is has disappeared but nothing has been trapped. I left the remains of the chicken that was bought last week for Lilly the tiny kitten who would only eat chicken. There is plenty more in the freezer.

And there is Ruby and her kittens who will be moved into PC's space because PC has found another foster home. Let's hope they can put some weight on him. Ruby's lot will go to be desexed tomorrow. They were having a final suckle this afternoon.

Ruby et al

We have another Jerry. This one came in from foster with a Ben. Told you we should have spelled Mouse's Jerry with a G for Geraldine.

Jerry

Ben
There are only 2 H kittens and 1 G kitten left.

Late

Sorry, I had a committee meeting that went on and on. Poor Aslan had to watch the blank TV all by himself.

We had great adoptions this weekend: Faith, Rain, Le Clerk and Griffin (for the fourth time.)

And today a nice couple came in and adopted Carly who didn't even make it to the Safe website!

We were kept busy with the usual business plus having to bottle feed Savannah's adopted little one. All that handling was a good opportunity to decide what its sex is. She is a girl. So she was immediately named Sybie after Helen's aunt. By the end of the day she weighted 300gm.

Luckily Joy took some photos of some of our tabbies:

Scardey Pepper and Salt in Incoming

came in with Rose who is a delight. She will cuddle with anyone.
Rose
Valentina hasn't had any kittens yet but she is getting very round in the belly on pregnant rations.

Valentina ?cross-eyed
Out the back in Boarding are a shy trio

Freckles, Posie and Chester
On Better Row is Calli who is more relaxed these days.

Why did you wake me up! says Calli
And Bissie is a delight in the early morning when there is nobody else around. She doesn't greet newcomers.
Bissie

Neither does Heffer. But she has a devoted admirer who comes every Friday to visit her.

Heffer
Thanks for the photos Joy.

Incoming population explosion

 We have kittens.

Savannah and her Sebastian have been with us for a fortnight or so. But now they have another kitten. It was one of Elle's. The rest of her litter died so it was decided that the remaining kitten might have a better chance with Savannah. Sebastian is cooperating . . ..  for now.

Sebastian and ?Silas or Silvia
Savannah is cooperating, bless her.

Elle is not a happy cat. . .

Elle
There are three together in one condo who must be a mixed litter because two are bigger and shyer than the smallest tortie. The tortie is Rose and the others are Salt and Pepper . . . one male, one female.

Rose, in front and cowering S & P behind
Fawny had 2 kittens

Autumn had six!

Valentino turns out to be a girl and has a name change to Valentina and put on Mum and Bub food.

And Roxie's 3 are getting bigger: even the little dark ginger (in the back) is getting bigger.

Roxy's 3

Bubble's five were on the bottom level this morning. They are usually in the upper bed box. I lifted them back because they couldn't jump up two levels but they didn't eat today. Neither did Bubble.
