Jackson, adopted April 26, 22

Jackson

1 day: He's purring like crazy. Eating dry food and roast chicken, and drinking water. He's been renamed Archie. He has been sitting next to his new owner while she's working.

1 week: no follow up.
1 month: Archie is great. He's very settled and has a massive appetite.  He loves to sleep on the owner's bed, and on her arm when she's typing on the computer. "He definitely rules the roost!"

 

 

Basil and Piglet, adopted May 1, 22

B & P day 1

1 day: They have settled in well, and are out and about playing with  each other, chasing around. They used the litter, are eating plenty and are being vocal. They are getting used to their new owners, Basil is more confident and will let you pick him up, purrs and likes attention. 
Piglet is still a little nervous but will still approach if you have food and will let you touch him. Their names were changed: Basil is George and Piglet is Edward. They have been causing havoc, chasing each other and knocking plants over.

1 week: They're doing really well,  running around a lot and chasing each other, eating well. George is very comfortable now. Edward is still quite nervous but making progress and getting more confident

1 month: They're really settled, in a good routine. They're eating, playing and cuddling with their owners. Everyone is happy

Pecan, adopted May 5, 22
1 day: He settled in instantly and has been so inquisitive and cuddly since he was brought home. He's been renamed Basil/Baz and is starting to respond to his name. He used the litter tray in the first 30 minutes and has been eating and drinking lots. "We've got the perfect kitten!". 
Stacy and her family did an amazing job raising him to be so friendly.

 

Pecan, day 1

1 week: He's going so well. He was exploring from the moment he was brought home. He sleeps a lot during the day and gets very playful at night time. He hasn't been shy or scared at all.

 1 month: He's got a huge 1.5m climbing post which keeps him fit and entertained during playtime. At night he sleeps in a few different beds around the apartment. He seems to be a very happy kitty, is eating well and loves a cuddle on their lap watching TV. He's responding to his name too.

 George, adopted May 9, 22

1 day: He is doing really well, he is very affectionate and has used the litter tray. He has eaten all his meals and is such a sweet boy. "He is the absolute sweetest cat I've ever met"

1 week: He's settling in well and is a bit crazy when they try to eat something. He is super cuddly and sweet and is exploring rooms. He has been renamed Biscuit. He is meowing a lot, even when he's being patted. It's all the time, but mostly when he is hungry. He sat outside the bathroom door when his owner was showering and meowed a lot.

 

1 month: He is really good. He has explored all of the rooms but he still isn't a big fan of the bedroom. He also is still very vocal but we are working with him on that! Today is the first morning he hasn't meowed since 6am for food! He still loves cuddles and is really fond of kisses on his head and he likes to try and climb up the owner's leg for hugs. If she holds him, he will wrap his arms around her neck and snuggle in as well. He is such a sweet cat. Very affectionate and full of 
personality!

Adoption tails: Coco again

 Further news of Coco who was adopted a month ago:

1 month: We are amazing! Coco is good in the unit. We are the best of friends.

 She would still like to open a window if she could, but is happy and content. I refuse to sleep with her. She thinks bed time is play time. So I shut the lounge room off at night. She doesn't like it but she is as good as gold. 

Coco often goes and has a sniff in the corridor. Comes back on her accord. 

"Come on Mum"

This morning, we walked down to the vet and she had her nails cut. She was a good girl. She really says thank you when I care for her.

Rufus, adopted April 26, 22

Rufus at home

 1 day: Rufus is staying in a separate room. He ate a little bit of dry food before hiding at the top of the room, has not drank nor toileted yet.

1 week: Still spends much of the day at the top but will come down for food, water and toilet. He is curious and looks at his owner & others when they come into his room.
1 month: Rufus is really good. Most of the time he is on the ground and playing with the resident cat. Unexpectedly they are super friendly with each other. Rufus is being spoiled and gaining weight so he won't fit into the roof soon.

Piglet, adopted April 3, 22. Now called Luci

No follow up reports from 1 day or 1 week.
1 month: She is doing well and emailed some photos Luci napping with Donna the dog.

Always Trixie to us

 I didn't have time to take any photos today. So I will fall back on photos of Trixie sent to Irene. They have renamed her Luna but she will always be Trixie to us.

Trixie, 1 week: She was very eager to come out of her original room, so the new owners let her into the whole apartment which she loves. She jumped on the bed a few times and claimed all the dining chairs as hers.

The Palace has been occupied by a pair of middle aged rag dolls and a kitten. It seems that the kitten drives them demented with his energy. His name is Ulysses. So Ulysses is to have an hour in the play pen every day. Max was moved, surprisingly easily, to Diego's condo. He was pleased to see me with the chicken but didn't shout the house down.

Ulysses had his first play hour in the play pen this afternoon. He hid in a scratchy pole box. He was very happy to have a cuddle. I loosened his collar which was very tight. His Palace mates continued to grumble.

I brought extra chicken so everybody had more than a small amount but never enough.

No adoptions today. A ?mother and son arrived asking for Tigger to go with their adult cat. Tigger got adopted ages ago ( or was it just last week?) We don't have any young kittens available this week and the adult might be harrassed by a young kitten (eg Ulysses et al). So I showed them everybody and they liked Basil who purred like a mad thing and Coco who was happy to be laid in their arms on her back. They are thinking about it and bought a cat carrier big enough to fit two cats into. And he took the Volunteers Needed leaflet so might be back as a volllie. . .  we need them.

One left

 Of Sabrina's kittens, there is still one left, if you don't count Lulu the short haired tuxedo who sticks by her side and hasn't yet been desexed. (I still think that she is a younger ring-in even though she and Tigger had a lovely game of ring-around-the-litter box today). 

We have a new mum and four kittens on Naughty Row. They are mum Violet and Ivy, Clover, Orchid and Natalia.

 But the one that we are really happy to have left is Trixie. She was adopted yesterday by a young couple who just fell in love with her. They know all about her history and possibly expensive future but still took her. Lucky them.

Today the Ringworm pair were upgraded to her condo in the main cat room. They are completely cured and should be ready to adopt. Basil is the bolder kitten. He has a white upside down V on his face.

His brother, Piglet is very shy still. He was the one with the ringworm lesions that needed frequent applications of nasty ointment (he thought it was nasty; it is really very soothing). He hides from people and is protective of food which Basil tends to greedy. I hope there are enough Trixie vibes left in their condo to bring him out of his shell.

I took a chance and added hammocks to the D's and Tommy/Mia's stand alones. The previous hammocks had been used as litter trays before they came down with the flu. I hope it was just cats feeling too poorly to make it to the box.

Two of the D's immediately jumped into the new hammock and had a noisy wrestle.

Tommy is withdrawn. I suspect that all his testosterone has disappeared and he doesn't know whether he is Arthur or Martha. He curled up in the smallest triangular hammock.

The only visitors we had today were a couple of young women who had wanted to walk some dogs at Monika's Doggy Rescue. But it was closed. So they rang to ask if we had any dogs that needed to be walked. I said they were welcome to come visit some cats. They came under strict instructions from their parents that they were NOT to bring home any cats/kittens. They were very restrained. Our new ginger and white boy Ginger was thrilled to see them.
