Adoption Tails: Suki Sioux, Shawna and Louie

 Suki Souix

1 week: Suki has settled in very quickly and has won their hearts. She was in her safe room for one day before taking over the rest of the house. They say that she has only sounded like a Siamese once.

 1 month: Suki was peeing quite frequently out of her litter box. They had taken her to Allambie vet who had suggested various things. Suki is kept in her safe room overnight. It seems progress is being made & she is settling down somewhat. They are trying all sorts of strategies to help her and love her.

 

Shawna

1 day: Shawna is doing really well. Eating really well, drinking and has toileted.

 

1 week: She's very happy. "She crawled in under this blanket... too cute!" Everything else is going really well. It's love for the owners and Shawna.

 

No 1 month response

Louie now Floquinho

1 day: Louie is now called Floquinho ("little snowflake" in Portuguese). He has adapted very well and already seems to feel like he owns the place. He loves his new toys but what he really enjoys most is being with the owners. He's always playing, cuddling and loves to lay on their laps. Floquinho is receiving a lot of love and attention and has already had some visitors who absolutely adored him. He got along very well with everyone. He still has the habit of playfully biting but the owners are teaching him to stop it. He is doing great!

 1 week: He's doing very well and has quickly adapted to both owners and his new home. He's having a lot of fun, plays a lot and gets plenty of affection. They're taking good care of him and he's already part of the family. "We're really enjoying having him with us!"

 

 1 month: Floquinho is settled at home. He's getting better with scratching due to some crusty bumps. The owners and the vet are taking good care of him.

 

 

Joy reports on the Cat Lovers Festival

Did the SAFE stand on Sunday morning at the Cat Lovers Festival. Louie was the star cat being so energetic until lunch time when he flaked out! I noticed he was missing from website following day so daresay someone fell in love with him! 

 

Big Khuna was so chilled and out walking on the table with his harness on. He’ll make a lovely pet. Bubbles was a bit stressed so didn’t really participate. 

 Don’t think it was as busy as last year but this time I did a Sunday (rather than Sat). 

 

It was good to see so many small local animal shelters from various parts of Sydney and NSW 
like us unfortunately not government funded but at least they exist & are trying which is a plus. 

Lola stayed at home.

Adoption Tails: Chonk, Athena, Louie

  1 month: He’s much more open to regular interaction now. Up until a week or two ago, he would constantly hide during the day.

Louie

1 week: He is good. He has been out since his third day and has been getting used to his new environment. He is still scared sometimes but seems to be getting used to having his owner around.

Athena (now Cherie) (no photos from home)

1 day: Athena will be renamed to Cherie as the cat sitter teaches French. She was picked up in the afternoon and has been hiding under the bed which was expected by the owners. She has yet to use the kitty litter or to eat/drink yet. The owner believes she is a little traumatised from the move and is leaving her be for now.

1 week: Cherie has certainly started to come out of her shell. She is exploring every chair, nook and cranny. She is gorgeous! However, she is sneezing and scratching a bit (on the owner’s furniture so that is a no no), and the owner suspects it’s the dust irritating her. She is not interested in the scratching poles provided and the owner has provided her with a damp flannel bath to help with the dust induced sneezing. Cherie is also holding in her wee and doing huge ones when she goes but is happy with kitty litter/tray, (only 2 pees and 2 poos in one week!) She has a good appetite, lots of rolly pollies and has certainly moved in and seems content.

1 month: All good with Cherie except she is a furniture scratcher so discipline is being administered. She is not interested in the scratching pole and mat and other scratchers the owner has for her because the arm chair and carpet is far more interesting! She is also a night owl and charges around the unit at 2am and then jumps up on the bed and headbutts the owner until he gives her a cuddle. "She is so pretty and just loves people so the owners feel so lucky to have her!"
