A variety of worms

 Three of Annabelle's male progeny went to be desexed today. One of them passed a worm while at the vet's! So everybody got a worming pill when they got home. The three boys have gone into Jacob's condo because he has been moved to Lola's stand alone.

He wasn't very happy there. But we really needed his double condo. And perhaps some of the ragdoll magic will rub off this weekend and he will get adopted. He almost did this afternoon when a family took ages to decide not to get Chandler or his brother.. . . or Jacob. Perhaps they will be back tomorrow.

So Didley, Jaffa and Beanie were put into the condo next to Chelsea. All her kittens have been adopted.

And she has decided that people are OK after all.

Billy came back from his foster home and has taken a week or so to settle back into the institutional routine. He is less upset than he used to be but still not up to pats.

The big news is that Big Kahuna was adopted. Lucky them. And his enclosure was thoroughly cleaned (thank you Sharon) so that Tilly's three big kittens (her own) could move in there. . . . and get adopted asap.

The sad news of the day (apart from the number of poo bags on the verandah) is that GG and Teddy have been moved to Isolation. His worm has been confirmed by the vets as ringworm.

The verandah was full of bags again today. And still half full this afternoon. Take a bag home if you can, please.

Next time we get one built we must challenge the men's shed to come up with a design for feeding multiple kittens and cats there. Perhaps a conveyor belt with two openings: one for food dishes and one for empty dishes. And a way of letting the cats get access to the food but to move them away after eating. It might be a design challenge. Could we have a competition? Would AI help?

I noticed that I have worn a hole in the knee of my kneeling-on leg by feeding/fending them.

Because they have moved out of Incoming, Mateo and his siblings have moved into the stand alone in Incoming. Joy took photos. And the vollies made up names for them and for Annabelle's lot. I will add the names on Friday because them may well have changed by then. We had some Chinese names suggested by vollies.

Big Kahuna is ready to be adopted. And his paperwork is imminent.

And Newt went today to a young man who was delighted to have his very own kitten. His mum was pleased for him too.

And Alexis has both a "Not ready for Adoption" and "already has a home" sign on her crate.

All day Friday

 I worked all day instead of just in the afternoon because. . . . Christmas holiday time. The Friday crew is lovely at the beginning of their shift as well as at the end. And Geoff is caught up with relatives in Victoria as well as doing fireman's work there. Irene swept in early to take PC, Aslan and Teddy to the vet for checkups. 

PC may have a foster carer. . . fingers crossed.

Teddy may have a ringworm. . . . fingers crossed that is wrong. Cultures have been taken.

Aslan has had tests done to try to figure out why he is so thirsty.

And she was worried about some kittens coming in and no empty condos. So I reshuffled some and put up an small stand alone on top of Kitty's stand alone. Alexis loves it up there. She can be nose to nose with everybody who comes through the door. She will be desexed asap and this may be our new "Get It Out Of Here" stand alone.

 There is a ragdoll, due to come into where Alexis was, who has had all the paperwork done so most of us won't get to meet her. I still reckon we should auction off ragdolls to the highest bidder!

I weighted Tilly's big kittens (her own kittens) and two of them are big enough to be sexed. Irene will book them in next week because their ringworm treatment is almost over. As is Dylan's.

And Big Kahuna might appear on the "available" page soon. Irene wants expressions of interest so that he goes to the best possible home.

Dusky seems to have gone to a really good home.  She has been scratching relentlessly on the perspex so she will be glad to have more room.

 Three tiny ones arrived and are in Incoming. No names no pack drill.

In the meantime, Sunny and Alexa are the lucky last ones next to the Big Kahuna. Alexa has just made it to desex weight so will be booked in asap. Her last remaining brother should be adopted sooner rather than later. She will be able to finish her own meals then. They have been moved to Lola's stand alone.

We pulled their enclosure away from the wall. What a lot of litter was under the walls! Now it has all been cleaned out. The hammocks (which the kittens were using as toilets) are in my washing machine. We sterilized it as well as could be and rehung the sheets. Then Irene moved Julie and Bassuria in. She did one cat at a time. Encouraged them into boxes and used the cardboard shields to keep them in the box while she gently carried them through a passageway formed of sheet covered Top Cat and similars.

  Don't know why we worried. They behaved perfectly. I think Biggie and Mia will like their new neighbours.

Nova's new eye

 Since she has moved to Boarding, her left eye has changed. It used to have a white circle on the lower half. Now that has disappeared but it looks as though the front part of her eye has become more spherical rather than being convex outwards. She seems very happy and friendly as ever.

As is Chelsea along at the other end of Boarding. Her kittens don't bolt out of the condo quite as quickly. And she just wants cuddles.

Camilla has been moved to Cuddlepie's condo. She was not happy after being moved. But she will get used to her new digs.

A good licking

 When I arrived, a little late due to visiting relatives, Big Kahuna was sitting in his high rise without his cone. Tim says that he has a couple of times a week under strict supervision to go without his cone for a while so that he can clean himself up. I undertook to keep a strict eye on him and to stop him scratching himself and he gave himself a really good licking. He was much more settled during the afternoon after his efforts.

Victoria visited. She used to be a hands-on vollie. Nowdays she follows up on the adopters of our cats at 1 day, 1 week and 1 month (at the least) to make sure they/the cat has the best chance to settle in
to a new relationship. We had a lovely tour of the availables to reacquaint her with them.

Soon to be on the list, according to Irene, are the Palace kittens whom Naomi fostered.

Camera glitch

 Last week I ran out of battery charge on my camera. So I recharged it and couldn't be bothered going through setting the date, etc, etc when I put the battery back in. Today I couldn't find the photos that I took. Because they were "dated" on Jan 4, 2023! I eventually tracked them down after deleting a couple by mistake. So this will be a short post.

One of Chelsea's kittens is much smaller than the others. Not (according to Irene) one of Missy's. Missy is back in heat. She can probably smell the delicious odour of male cat coming from Incoming.

Emma had five kittens. She looks exhausted. It will only get more tiring as she has a collection of naughty torties/calicos.

Vader has been moved into Incoming because of his pussy eye. The person who adopted him will miss his kittenhood at this rate. Somebody rang about Vera. She may be gone by the end of the week.

Sharon came to keep me company this afternoon. She and Big Kahuna have a special relationship.

Quiet Wednesday

 It was quiet without Charlie and Champ. The gingers came out as usual: Big Kahuna went to the topmost level of the for sale scratchy pole and curled up there, PC sat on "his" office chair and Aslan looked for lost crunchies (didn't find any thanks to the great cleaning crew).

 Lola has also taken over a top shelf of the stratchy pole in the vestibule. I moved it so that it does not block the kitchen door. She is at nose level to passing people. And likes to touch noses and foreheads as a mark of respect (to her, of course)

We have a pair of surrendered cats, Jack and Jessie who are a bit shell shocked to be in an institution rather than being the centre of affection in a home. So I let them stretch their legs in the Top Cat. They were not interested. Too well bred to sticky beak.

So, as they weren't interested, I moved it across to Angie's condo. She might come out during the night. I have never seen her out of her bed box.

And Felipe has lost his stand-alone mate, Nix. Doesn't seem too upset.

And Teddy and GG are in the play place where it is, marginally easier, to make sure that he eats his two pills in the afternoon and she doesn't greedy them.
