Adoption Tails: Prada

 1 day: Prada has been renamed Yeti. She is settled into her room and has checked out a few hiding places. She ate dinner last night but hasn’t eaten today nor has she used the litter box. 

1 week: Yeti is doing so well. She comes out of her hiding space most times when they enter the room or if they call out to her. She loves a pat and is a big-time purrer. She is eating well and is drinking her water. They are leaving the door open and she has ventured out slightly in particular at night. They are still keeping her in her safe room with the door closed during the night. “We’d love to encourage her to explore the rest of the house, just being patient while she gets curious!”

 Her new owner picked her up as planned but then a pipe burst in her apartment so Jolene is staying with us for a week while it is fixed. The vollies were overjoyed. She got lots of cuddles. She wears a very fetching pink collar which matches her ears.

This morning a couple arrived to look at Prada (adopted over the weekend), Milo and Baloo who walked straight into their hearts. Their 20year old cat died late last year and they were ready to fall in love. Baloo was IT. They got the urinary problems are common in cats especially in highly (in-)bred ones lecture and went away very happy.

We have a new B cat who lives where Tiger used to be: ie beside Biscuit and above Bissie. She came from a vet where there were barking dogs and she attacked the vet nurses. She seems as sweet as she can be with us. Her back end is bronzed.

Because Baloo vacated the stand alone, Maxwell moved in. He came into quarantine with rampant ring worm but is all good now. He likes to chat. All you have to do is look at him and he will talk to you.

Salazar is settling into his AWL condo slowly. The vet decided that he has a dicky heart as well as a warty chin. He wouldn't survive chin surgery. We should offer him to somebody who wants a fragile but super-loving cat to foster.

Saffron has moved into Salazar's old digs above Bassuria and Julie. He looks somewhat overwhelmed. His owner visited over the weekend and is adamant that we not "give him away" to anybody else. He is still boarding with us.

Love is the key

A woman came in this afternoon to pick up Phantom. She had been in earlier and done the paperwork. She said that she just fell in love with him. And I believed it from the look on her face. He had had a run around before she arrived. I gave her some of his special food because she has found that you can only buy ZD on-line. I think he has landed on his wobbly feet.

Prada is to move into Phantom's condo. She will be much happier there where she can chat to folk at face level not try to talk to the top of their heads.

The C kittens are still in the play place. 

But the Palace has been reserved for them because Ruby only has one little jewel left. This afternoon a woman rang to ask if we had any kittens. I said we did and lots in foster homes. They arrived shortly afterwards and chose Sapphire because they have a 12 month old girl cat at home and I said they should have a boy to go with her. The other jewels were adopted on March 4, 8 and 9. The adopter's partner said that the cat at home gets 4 sachets of food every day plus crunchies. I agreed with her that was way too much.  He showed a photo of a very long, slender cat. (Maybe she has worms). But I advised them not to cut her rations when Sapphire came home because she will blame the kitten and make his life hell once they get together.

Jolene has a larger collar on again. Her tummy wound is looking a bit inflamed.  It didn't stop her having a lovely run around this afternoon.

Ace calmly cleaned Mia's condo this afternoon. She didn't swat or scream. I think she loves him. And he couldn't smell anything bad in Mia's condo. So perhaps it is Biscuit above after all.

Rosie and Callie are back

 We were expecting them but they were late so we hoped that their adopters might have had second thoughts. Callie was pleased to see me and let me pat her head. That is progress. We also have new cats in Incoming. But the good news is that Ginger George has been adopted. The strong minded friend must have fallen in love with him too.

Biscuit wasn't supposed to come in but s/he got trapped and the other escaped. S/he is a very sweet cat. But grubby. There may be problems with teeth that make the tongue hang out.

There are four scaredy kittens in the stand alone against the other wall: Venice, Scooch, Muffin and Cookie. Seems to me that several folk named the kittens in this litter.

Gulia took Honey home over the weekend. They were both very excited. A woman came this afternoon to choose a cat to foster. It took all afternoon and she eventually chose Lola. But Lola didn't want to go. She absolutely refused to let Tim microchip her. So the fosterer took Nancy who didn't like the microchipping and hated having to get into the carrier where that foul dead had been done. But she was taken off. And we hope she will live happily ever after.

Sydney is looking quite content in the afternoon these days. So miracles do happen.
