J's gone

They went, of course, on Saturday morning and their new people look very happy.

Jack and Jessie adopted
Joy is back and took great photos today. I only took one to send to Tim re Whitney's kittens. He was concerned because the little one wasn't getting enough food. Her siblings are much bigger than she is and Whitney is no longer interested in feeding them. So the little one is on syringe feeds. (Which remind me of the old days at Peggy Brown's AWL branch when you had to have a kitten on your lap at morning tea time to feed and toilet before you got your own cuppa.)

This little one does eat solid food but her big sisters eat faster and push her out of the way.

Tilly has a "Ringworm" sign on her window. Which is difficult because as soon as you open the door to feed/clean them, they shoot out in all directions. . . . . especially the tabby with the really dramatic markings.

Missy is fine. She is no longer in such hot heat.

And Robbie and Clyde have recovered from their dental procedures. Robbie is 11 years old.

J's countdown

Jack and Jessie were posted on the Safe website today. This afternoon a woman called interested in them. She will drive from the south coast to be in East Roseville as early as she can tomorrow morning.

It has been nice having them with us.

Irene did bring in her foster cats after Helen and I left on Wednesday. I installed the Top Cat so that Dylan could visit with Willa and Darcy. He spent some time in the scratchy pole hole but jumped back up to his bed box pretty quickly. It is a scary place.

Dylan
Willa and Darcy hid in their scratchy box all the time.

Willa (on left) and Darcy

So I moved the Top Cat so that Simba could meet Sebastian and Dorian. They seemed to be pleased to meet.

Simba with Sebastian and Dorian

Ashley (sister of S & D) was out of the cat carrier and in her bed box for the first time, today. Slow progress.

Ashley

If anybody knows/remembers where they bought the spray bottle on the right will you please buy us some more of them. The one on the left (from Bunnings) is no good. Even the tall Bleach spray bottle in the kitchen has given up the ghost.

Grey Guy

We had an efficient cleaning team and a quiet visitor day. Plus Katie's cats have all gone home. I imagine that everybody is happy to be there.

One visitor was Rose who brought in a grey cat with a story that Helen, Tim and Irene knew all about it. He is desexed but has no papers. She left bags of fruit, etc for Tim and Irene and "lunch" for Helen. The grey cat was sweet and friendly so I accepted him.

Grey Guy
When Helen arrived, she denied all knowledge of the cat. When she called Irene, Irene said "Oh, Rose" or words to that effect. I put him into the condo where Cuddlepie used to be in Incoing.

Cuddlepie got moved because Irene will bring three of her foster cats in tonight. She wants them to be close so that they can play together in the Top Cat. So I moved Cuddlepie to above Jack and Jessie. I don't think she likes having two windows of her hiding box exposed.

Cuddlepie
Jitterbug doesn't seem to be missing Falco. In fact, she was more friendly today than when he was around.

Jitterbug

Jessie and Jack

Jessie and Jack will be available soon. Perhaps we should auction them off to the highest bidder.

Sterling and Dorian are available. They really liked Jack who had a wander (with hidey holes in stratchy polls blocked by packs of puppy pads).

Sterling and Dorian meet Jack

There is a new, lovely ginger boy Clyde in Incoming. He has had teeth out so is on wet food. And his coat is a bit patchy. I hope we don't have another food sensitive ginger.

Low Lola

Irene was horrified to find the "new" stratchy pole that Lola loved to loiter on was covered with her hair and her upchucks. Irene moved it into the corridor to give it a good cleaning in the hope that somebody will buy it. Lola wandered around looking lost. She climbed into the bookshelf and sat with the Safe hats for a while but eventually retreated to ground level. No nose bumps there.

Lola
It was a very quiet afternoon. The most exciting thing was when the wooden, crate-like carrier was picked up, at last. And a pair of boarders were transferred to a fosterer to take home.

Although when I was handing out chicken (thank you Catsie, the cats loved your crispy chicken skin) I noticed a black cat waiting for me in the Welfare area . . . . not confined. On investigation it turned out to be Mia. How did she get out? With chicken in my hand she was easy enough to get back in.

Sesame is settling in but doesn't like us yet (or my chicken).

Sesame
Cuddlepie declined to venture into the Top Cat.

Cuddlepie

Mickey prefers to be in his bed box.

There is an new cat come in from foster in Rebecca's condo. He is Simba and is confused.

Simba

Mums and bubs are doing well except that Whitney prefers to spend most of her time in her upper bed box where the little suckers can't get at her. They happily eat baby food. We think she must come down to feed them when she is ready.

Quiet Wednesday

It was quiet without Charlie and Champ. The gingers came out as usual: Big Kahuna went to the topmost level of the for sale scratchy pole and curled up there, PC sat on "his" office chair and Aslan looked for lost crunchies (didn't find any thanks to the great cleaning crew).

Big Kahuna on a small shelf

Lola has also taken over a top shelf of the stratchy pole in the vestibule. I moved it so that it does not block the kitchen door. She is at nose level to passing people. And likes to touch noses and foreheads as a mark of respect (to her, of course)

Lola

"Nose bump please" purrs Lola

We have a pair of surrendered cats, Jack and Jessie who are a bit shell shocked to be in an institution rather than being the centre of affection in a home. So I let them stretch their legs in the Top Cat. They were not interested. Too well bred to sticky beak.

Jessie

Jack

So, as they weren't interested, I moved it across to Angie's condo. She might come out during the night. I have never seen her out of her bed box.

Angie

Bissie is back ? from foster. Again.
Bissie
And Felipe has lost his stand-alone mate, Nix. Doesn't seem too upset.
Felipe
And Teddy and GG are in the play place where it is, marginally easier, to make sure that he eats his two pills in the afternoon and she doesn't greedy them.
"I know there are pills in that food" he says
"Let me at them" she says

Meanwhile the 3 sweet kittens in Incoming are doing very well, ie Malteser, Butterscoth and Snickers

Adoption Tails: Cookie and Cupcake

Cookie

1 day: Cookie is right at home! The owner's son is smitten since she came home just yesterday from foster.

1 week: Cookie is right at home and getting lots of cuddles and playtime with her besotted human brother. She has a great appetite and is growing fast!

1 month: Cookie is loving life - she's a curious and cuddly little girl. She has really made herself at home. "Thank you to SAFE for introducing us to our much loved new family members."

Cupcake

Was adopted by her fosterers so no follow ups.

Adoption Tails: Gino Grigio, Pino Nero and Marissa Bruni

 Gino Grigio aka Alto

1 day: The family has changed Gino's name to Alto. He has been eating well and doing his number ones and twos. He came out from under the bed this morning when the owners were in the room changing his litter. He wanted to have a stroke and a little play. He seems very happy and relaxed around the family and started purring. The daughter is very happy with her new brother Alto.

1 week: Alto's settled in really well. The family had a great week with him. They gradually got him to spend more time out of his room and he is very chilled out with the family. He is doing so well with pre-schooler chaos!

1 month: It's been 4 weeks of loving Alto and he is the most beautiful boy. He has already brought a lot of joy, cuddles and laughs to the family. "A purrrrfect cat for us!" He is a little cheeky with a love for jumping on the kitchen bench and loves to sleep under the covers with the owner. He has a fabulous temperament with her daughter. "Thank you so much to SAFE and his foster carer. We are so happy with him."

Pino Nero aka Narbee

2 days: He has been renamed Narbee. He has been eating, drinking, using his litter box, and staying active.

Pino 2 days

1.5 weeks: Narbee is getting more confident exploring outside of his safe room

Pino 1.5 weeks

1 month: no response

Marissa Bruni aka Whisper

Adopted by Cookie's owner's parents
1 day: Marissa, who will soon be renamed to Whisper, will be living in a calm and quiet home which will suit her shy nature.

Marissa Bruni

4 days: Whisper is still very shy but her owner has made a safe room for her with all the things she needs. She's gradually coming out for cuddles. Her toys are moved around each morning so she seems to be coming out to play during the night.

Marissa Bruni aka Whisper

1 month: Whisper is gaining confidence everyday. She recently discovered the empty bathtub is the ideal place for chasing a ping pong ball around. She's gradually becoming friendly to more people and comes over for a cuddle when someone visits her cosy little room.

Empty condos

I am told that Charlie and Champ have settled in. Their new owner is thrilled to bits and is bombarding Kym with reports of their every movement. Geoff was thrilled the news that they have been homed and offered to set up an outdoor enclosure for them if needed. (Irene tell Kym this).

Julie and Bassuria rather like having an empty condo beside them. Julie's tongue does hang out since she had teeth removed and the chicken made her drool.

Bassuria on top, Julie below

Teddy's eyes don't look good but he is in fine form. As is his condo mate GG. They do love each other.
Teddy on top, GG below.

And chicken.

When Geoff feeds the cats he first gives Tommy a good grooming and loving. Then he leaves Tommy's condo door open. Tommy never ventures out.

Tommy
As the play place is empty, I tried PC there. Followed by Big Kahuna. Neither of them liked it very much. They much prefer the desk and opportunity of stealing illicit food. Not to mention the odd cuddle.

Champion Day

Charlie and Champ have been adopted. They are still with us. But will be picked up tomorrow when Tim is around to 1. read their microchip numbers and 2. put them into the large carrier that may be their special hiding place for some time in their new home. Their owner is thrilled to bits. Her previous cat died at 17 years old and she fell in love with C & C when she visited on Sunday.

And the woman interested in Winnie will definitely come to adopt her on Friday.

There are new kittens: 3 orphans who are impossible to take a photo in focus.

Malteser, Snicker, Butterscotch

Chelsea's number of kittens dropped to 2 but is now back to 5. She has taken over Missy's kittens because Missy doesn't have any milk. No photo. Chelsea doesn't like to be disturbed. Missy is in Isolation surrounded by bowls of different food which she ignores.

There are new adults in Incoming:

Robbie is an 11 year old who is traumatised by being with us. He cowers in a corner but is quite happy to be patted gently. Cats hate change.

Robbie
Jitterbug and Flaco are new condo mates in Incoming too.

Sesame has come in from foster. I swapped the stand alone by the far door of Welfare where she was to go for LeClerc's position. Now he can monitor the coming and going through the door and she can quail in the corner.
