Adoption Tails: Virgo's star sign litter and the Spices litter

 Taurus

1 day: He’s going really well, all is good.

1 week: He’s going very well. Such a friendly kitten.

1 month: He's going great, such a good addition to the family.

Aries

Aries has settled in very well indeed! So much so that we have started to introduce him to the rest of the house. The family got him a second litter tray that is larger and will become his main one as he grows as well as some extra bowls for food and water. Aries also has a cute perch/scratching station/cubby. He's fully set up for both sides of the house but is returned to his safe room during night time and unsupervised time during the day. 

The family was going to give him a different name but Aries has stuck now. Aries will drag the cat toy fishing around and drop it at the owner's feet to let them know he wants to play. They can't believe how easy and smooth the transition has been. "It's like he's been part of our family and just came home after a long time away!"

Libra

Gemini (aka Pesto)

5 days: “Gemini, renamed Pesto, is adjusting very well to his new life.” He has been eating and drinking well. He has started to explore other rooms of the apartment and is now more confident. “He sleeps with us and is very chatty.” 

1 month: “Pesto is very happy and spends a lot of time with us and enjoying his new toys.” He had a rash inside his ear and decided to take him to the vet as they couldn’t reach SAFE. They did his booster vaccination at the same time. He seemed to react to a treat they gave him, as it disappeared once he did not get the treat.

Pisces(aka Rocket)

1 week: “We love him and he’s settling in very well with us!” He has been renamed Rocket and is doing great. “We had him separated for a few days but he was very keen to explore and he’s become best friends with our 4 year old cat. They’ve been sleeping next to each other during the day and playing a lot. He’s using his litter and eating and drinking water regularly.” They are keeping them apart at night and when they’re unsupervised but they don’t feel it’s necessary for much longer as they’re very relaxed around each other and play well.

1 month: “He’s doing very well and grown a fair bit. He’s getting along very well with our resident cat and they are having cuddles and licking each other so I couldn’t be happier with their bond”

1 day: They are doing fine in their safe room. They are eating, drinking and using the litter tray. They will be renaming them but aren’t 100% sure about their names yet. “They are so cute”

1 week: “We are doing well with the kittens.” They had a few issues getting used to each other but their owners are sure they can overcome them. The kids have given them new names. Scorpio is now Ditto and Cinnamon is now Dash. “We let them come out of their safe room last night and they had a great time together playing in the house.”

1 month: “They are awesome! We are super happy.”

Paprika & Pepper

1 day: They are settling in fine. Eating, drinking and using the litter tray. 

1 week: They are doing well. The two have started to spend some time out of the safe room and even sit by the windows to watch the birdies outside

No 1 month response. 

Chilli

1 day: Chilli had a good night and has a little to eat, used the litterbox last night and this morning but no poo yet. He had cuddles before bed. He is settling in well. The owners love the name!

1 week: He is delightful, no more safe room and sleeps on the owner's bed at night when he is not running around the unit. They are very happy with him.

 1 month: Chilli is doing great, the owner tried to get a good photo of him in front of the fireplace last night but he wouldn't keep still.

 

Adoption Tails: Miranda, Paprika, Cookie

Billie (previously Miranda)

1 day: Miranda (who is now called Billy) is now settling in well in a little spare room. She is a bit scared but as soon as the owner sits there for a while, she will come out and is very affectionate! She did use her litter tray once overnight. She has been eating too but not drinking much water so the owner is thinking of buying a water fountain to encourage her to drink a bit more. She also only seems to eat if the owner is there with her, they they leave her by herself, she doesn't eat any food.
1 week: The owners decided to change the spelling to "Billie" as it is the more feminine spelling. She is doing great, not shy anymore and loves to explore the apartment! She eats very well and usually cries for more but the owner is not overfeeding because of concerns for Billie getting fat! Billie is super affectionate and loves people and loves to play with all the toys the owners got her. Overall, she is settled in very well.

Billie aka Miranda

1 month: Billie is amazing, she's the cutest little kitty. The owners love her to bits! No real concerns at all. The owner has just been experiencing all different brands of wet food (all veterinarian approved) so Billie does not get bored eating the same foods everyday but it is possibly upsetting her stomach as sometimes she does 3 poops a day.

Cleo (previously Paprika)

1 day: She's doing well, the family has renamed her Cleo. She is eating, drinking and toileting and very happy.

1 week: Cleo is very happy. She spends most of the time in one area with two rooms and is happy there. Loves spending her time with the kids.

 1 month: Cleo is very happy. She is registered with the council and fully vaccinated.

Cookie

1 day: Cookie is going great - eating, drinking and using the litter tray. Still in just one room but super friendly and lots of cuddles. The family will start introducing him to the rest of the house later but they are mindful to manage that slowly with Snoop the dog. They love the name Cookie so they are keeping it.
1 week: The family is experiencing a few moments with Snoop being a bit obsessed by Cookie. Cookie has had an explore around the rest of the house but Snoop rushes at him to check him out, not out to attack. Cookie is gorgeous and very cuddly. There is currently a baby gate in the doorway of Cookie's room. They stand and look at each other, Snoop also whimpers a lot at him.

1 month: Going so well!! Cookie and Snoop are besties now. The family loves Cookie so much.

 

Aslan, Auslan, ASL

 Aslan is old Turkish for a lion, Auslan is Australian sign language, ASL is American Sign Language. The picture tells a thousand words.

I met him for the first time today. You only need hand gestures to become his friend. He has a wonky leg (back right). He probably broke it some years ago and it has "healed" in the wrong conformation. If it gives him pain, it might be kinder to amputate the leg. But, so far he seems happy. 

He has moved into Salazar's condo because Salazar succumbed to his heart condition and died yesterday. The last months that he has spent with us have probably been the best in his life. Always a lap and a hug, plenty of food, no street dangers, nobody making cracks about his lumpy chin or knobbly legs.

Miranda had trouble with her Elizabethan collar after returning from the vet to be desexed. But chicken fixed that. (Paprika didn't turn a whisker when I put her's on.)

And Champ has come out of the cat carrier. How did two cats fit in there! It must be Charlie still in the carrier because he is tabby and white.

Opie wasn't as vocal today. He stayed in his hammock despite all the activity around him. He was whisked next door to Dr Kim's who couldn't see anything wrong with him. He ate a little chicken. And went back to bed.

Tiger would like to eat some chicken. But it is not on his diet. In the meantime, he will take hugs, especially from Arc who is strong enough to pick up his considerable weight!

Jolene adopted

 That is what the sign on her condo says. But she is still with us and will be here until next Wednesday. And she will come back in May when her mum goes on holiday. Her mum is keen to volunteer with us so we will get lots of updates about her and photos.

The paperwork wasn't done until I muddled through the process early this afternoon. So she was still on our website. There were lots of disappointed potential adopters but Katie chose her new person because she doesn't have any other small critters in the house. She will need to take great care of those tender back legs.

The small stand alone beside the merch shelves has been moved into Incoming and has an occupant from Greenacre. Paprika was rescued from a local who throws boiling water over the stray cats to get rid of them. Some cats have had been blinded by this treatment. Paprika looked at me and blinked. She is fine.

Salazar didn't feel well today. His breathing was laboured and he didn't eat his breakfast! So after being on laps all morning he was taken to the vet this afternoon. Dr Chris couldn't hear anything wrong with his heart. All the TLC probably cured him.

Lola had a wander around this afternoon. She behaved very well. I took advantage of her absence from her stand alone to change all her bedding. She appreciated it when I enticed her back inside with chicken.
