Adoption Tails: Ginger George, Tia

 Ginger George, now Tom

1 day: Tom is getting used to his new home and has found a gift nook somewhere in the lounge. He had dinner and has used the kitty litter last night. He is snoozing under the air con right now. Seems to like the carpet and has not used his bed as yet. The owner's invitation to the lounge was short lived. She went to bed at about 10:30pm and Tom went to his hidey hole as he was nowhere to be seen when she got up to check on him. He goes to his hidey hole whenever she leaves to do chores. His body clock seems to be readjusting as he has not yet come out for breakfast. She is confident that he will get more confident with time.

1 week: Tom has really settled in. No more hiding. Playing with his toys and tunnel. Love his food and cons the owner into more wet food but that's ok as he may have lost a little bit of weight. He will be going to the vet as arranged by Tim but hopefully for small problems. He has made himself at home.
1 month: Tom seems well and is enjoying life. He goes for walks on his harness. Currently, he is strolling in the garden.

Tia, now Lunar

1 day: The owners are calling Tia Lunar now. She has adapted wonderfully and from the first moment she arrived, she has not attempted to hide. She's been eating regularly and using her litter.

1 week: Lunar is doing well and has taken over her various little spots.

1 month: Lunar's doing really well and the owner will head into the council today for rego. She is a bit finicky with being held down to clip her nails. The owner is looking at other ways to clip her nails to keep her calm as the owner does not want to stress her.

Goodbye Ginger George

He was adopted today by a woman who has always owned cats (and or dogs) who lives in a retirement community in the Hills district. He will be renamed Tommy. Her friend adopted another Ginger from us some time ago and is very happy with him. Lots of photos on her phone showed how much he is loved and pampered.

Ginger George's new woman plans to train him to walk on a lead. I told her that she wouldn't have any trouble, tried to illustrate how easily he cooperates but he, cat-like, didn't cooperate at all. But she knows that she will get around him and take him up to the residential section of the village to be introduced to all the oldies there. Won't he love that!

And there is a stream in the gardens that she will walk him to. And trees to admire. And lots and lots of love to be had.

Ginger George soon to be Tommy

Gingi, in Incoming, is ready and willing to step into Ginger George's shoes.

Tia has gone up on the adoption list. Geoff offered a bet that she wouldn't be still here in a week. Nobody took him up on it because she is grey and smoochy.

And Bella says.. .  "grey schmey. . . . black is beautiful" and "why is my bowl empty?"

Simba gone

He was adopted on Sunday afternoon. I don't think a reader of this blog adopted him. But the vibe might have helped.

Diamond was adopted today: one of Ruby's fluffies is to be a surprise for a child this afternoon.

Lots of vollies meant that the cleaning was done early. On Helen's suggestion I helped with the washing up and it certainly went faster with one to wash and rinse and the other to spray with bleach and, eventually, F10.

In the afternoon we let single cats out to wander in the barricaded Welfare area. First were Tibby and Tabby with Helena and Kate in the Top Cat. They mostly stayed on their shelf and watched but one did come down to greet her friends. (I don't know who is who). We sterilized the floor between cats.

Kate and Helena
Then Phantom had a run (stagger) and a smooch with Lucy. Then Ginger George came out to play. (He had been swearing at me from his condo while the youngsters were out). I went out back to unpack some tins and who should come wandering out to me but Ginger George. I escorted him back to the enclosure thinking that he had jumped over the barricade.
Calvin actually moved to make friends with Ginger

But he promptly crawled under Milo's stand alone, turned left at the windows and crawled under the trolley to freedom! I have since put a longer sheet over Milo's stand alone that falls to the floor. I don't think it will fool Ginger but it is worth a try.

Vicky wanted some photos of Jolene. I changed her Elizabethan collar to a smaller one that she could walk in and she had a lovely wander to say hello to Tibby and Tabby.

Jolene ignores Tia
She ignored the tender chirrups that Taylor's mum made at her. She must be missing her son.

This morning Lucy distracted Mia with some creamy treat while I cleaned her downstairs without incident. Later Judy thought that there was a strong smell of urine coming from the cat carrier that she doesn't sit in. While it was quiet I decided to remove the carrier so donned the giant blue gloves and picked up the large picker upper. As I approached Mia's condo she screeched at me. I turned around and took off the gloves, hung the picker upper back on the wall and apologised to Mia. Maybe somebody can try it one morning. Maybe she likes the smell. Maybe it is Biscuit above who might just be on heat.
