Adoption Tails: Twinkle, Zulu and Zara

 Twinkle

1 day: Twinkle has been hiding in a small corner behind some furniture since she got home. “We put food and water next to her and her litter tray is on the opposite of the room. I think she has touched the foot but not eaten much. Don't think she's used the litter tray yet. We are giving her plenty of space but also checking in on her every few hours or so.” They will be keeping her name.

2 days: “We bought her a little comfy bed and built a little fort under some chairs. She finally moved and seems happy there in there. Not eating much but has definitely used the litter box. She's getting braver every day. Also think we heard her roaming around at night”

2 weeks: “She's doing well, eating well, and exploring more and more. She sticks to her room mostly, but comes out of her fort when we're there and to eat. Last night I caught her in the corridor, very happy to see her out and about at night”

1 month: “She's been doing very well, we feel she's more comfortable around us and getting more and more active and confident.” They are currently on holiday and Twinkle is boarding at SAFE. “Can't wait to see her when we're back”

“Thanks for the help, we really appreciate it, Safe have been so good throughout the whole process.”

Zulu and Zara (aka Misty and Jukki)

2 days: “They have settled in so well”. They are eating, drinking, using their litter tray and are very cuddly. They’ve been renamed Misty & Jukki. They are settled in and are currently sleeping happily on the bed.

1.5 weeks: They are doing really well. The worming tablets they picked up from SAFE have helped. “they have definitely settled in well”

6 weeks: “They are going well & have settled in nicely.” Their owners will register them and continue with their flea and worming treatments. “Thank you for checking in with us really appreciate all of your support!!”

No photos today

For two reasons: I left my camera in the pocket of my jacket that is over the back of a chair in the Weaving Room at Brush Farm House after our meeting there on Saturday. Or I hope it still is!

And husband Jo used my mouse for his computer and it worked there but is not working back at my computer. So the photos I have on my computer are not available yet. Perhaps it will all sort itself out overnight.

The world is separating itself into the technologically competent and the technologically incompetent.

Eg, today a couple came in to buy the microchip controlled feeder that we had advertised. They wanted to pay cash. I don't know how to give a cash receipt and Peter (Irene's husband who was being my 2ic today) doesn't either. He talked them into giving us the $10 change as a donation and promised a tax deductible receipt. . . by somebody else.

I did manage to do the adoption of Harley to the woman who rang early to find out if she was still available and came sooner than she said that she would to do the deed. So Harley has gone. And, thanks to Charley, her condo has been cleaned for Twinkle to move into out of the stand alone where Cooper used to be.

Twinkle in Incoming

His stand alone has been cleaned too, by Peter, and we moved Linda and her remaining 2 kittens out of the play place into it by the simple expedient of putting their dinner into it and the kittens jumped straight in. Peter had to grab Linda.

Another woman came by to check out our kittens for her family. She had been told that ginger kittens are the friendliest. I said that is probably because most ginger cats are boys (80%) and boy cats tend to be sookier that girl cats who like to rule the roost.

Later I had a teary call from a woman who wants us to take her boy cat who attacks her and her husband for no reason. I told her to fill in the form on line which is what we tell everybody.

Next day: My mouse decided to play with my computer after being connected to it for a couple of hours. Wouldn't a cat like a mouse like that!

Four flu and a foot

Four vollies cancelled coming because they had the flu. (Thank you for staying home). And one, Catsie, has been told rest her injected foot for four days. Her cat needed her at home to keep warm too. And we did very well with the reduced number of vollies who did not trip over each other but did the work in quick time (to keep warm).

It was cold today. I didn't realise that I had not changed out of my Ugh boots this morning and wore them (gladly) all day. Sue was so cold she had to borrow my* jumper. Prue and Trude had the right idea.

Prue and Trude
We have a new cat. . . Harry who was handed in to a vet who on discovering that he was desexed, promptly did his dental work. He is around 11 years old, very thin and EXTREMELY friendly. No good trying to take a photo of him by yourself. One person needs to make a lap and the other to take a photo. He is a bit of a skeleton at the moment but will fatten up in no time.
One person photo of Harry
There are three kittens who have been in the care of nice folk and are going to a foster home. . . soonish.

Sue is about to go off OS but needs photos of cats. So, in default of Joy who is already overseas, I took photos until my battery ran out.

New kittens in Incoming. Don't know where they came from. No names yet.

Twinkle has been with us for a week or so and is settling down.

As is Angie.

* my jumper because I spun the fibre, dyed the yarn, designed the jumper and knitted it.

Late Wednesday

I was late to Safe Haven today because of a DH doc appt. And am late to blog tonight because of a Guild committee meeting. The latter had cats wandering around the Zoom meeting. The former just had nasty needles.

In the meantime, there have been movements out of incoming into the Welfare area and into Incoming from goodness knows where.

They don't look very happy. But remember how Bassuria and Julie used to be so frightened and starving. This afternoon was the first time I saw them cuddled up together in the open.

Bassuria and Julia
And out the back, under Josie, is a returned cat. Sparkle/Sparky was returned because he attacked the neighbour when cornered (as you would) and bit his owner. We will find  him a better person next time.
Sparkie

He is below Josie plus two. One of her two went to be desexed today. The other stayed at home and did something to his foot/leg. He was very pathetic (and cute) this afternoon holding up his right paw. (It didn't stop him jumping up to share his mum's afternoon tea!)

Sore paw
The highlight of the afternoon was a visit by Barb Webster who got to cuddle Freya's kittens who are where Cindy and co were.
