Four adoptions = no time for lunch

The first one was done and dusted before I arrived. Storm has gone to his happy place. And every person who came in the afternoon was looking for Storm!

The first woman works from home, is a beautician as well as an internet person, wants a friendly cat. She eventually chose Bonnie. While she was deciding three other groups arrived (to adopt Storm) and spent time with the cats either inside the straight Top Cat enclosure or watching. So I had a good audience when I went to put Bonnie into the stylish, black, cloth carrier, kitten sized. She objected . . . strongly. But I held on and we popped her into the carrier that was in her enclosure. Her new mum will bring it back.

Although I had an audience for my bandaging, I think it is a match made in heaven.

Next to go was Zoe. Her new family knows all about arm biting cats. We gave them her "distraction" toy as well as a sparkly wand. Tim vaccinated her before putting her into their carrier. No fuss, no claws. . . which proves that she will grow up to be a sweet thing.

Then it was Koa's turn to join a family with four kids, 2 dogs and 4 female cats. (They have been in before to meet and play with cats so this was a very considered choice -- of second best after Storm).

I wish somebody would choose Roisin. She put on a great show chasing after a ping pong ball. Even better than playing with Janine last week.

One of Yahtzee's kittens is very thin, all gummed up with the flu and has been taken home by Tim for bottle feeds and fluids. The others seem to be OK.

Dylan Did

 I offered time in the Top Cat to Darcy after Annabelle and Emily (who are in the condo below his) showed him what fun it can be. He declined to move out of his safe space.

So I moved the Top Cat to Dylan's slot and opened up to Petal and Koa who had a lovely play. Once they had had enough, I put them in and opened Dylan's door and out she came.

I wish I was quicker with my camera. On my way out this afternoon I checked the water bowls. Zoe had wrapped herself up in her blankie. So cute. But by the time I got the camera out of my pocket, she had untangled herself to greet me.

Do you remember Lola who was where Sunny is now several years ago? A friend of mine adopted her and they get on very well because Gina knows that she is number 2 in the house. Gina sent me a photo of Lola who is wearing one of our Elizabethan collars because she has a rash on her tummy that she keeps on licking. (As Gina gave me the fabric that I used to make the collars, I think that it is entirely appropriate that she can have a collar for her/our cat).

Balls galore

We had a visitor this morning on her second visit. She has three adult (6, 11 and 12) female cats at home as well as 2 doodle dogs and 3 kids from 12 up. The house is currently being worked on so her husband has said "Not this week!" and also "Not a kitten". A pity because she likes Rose ( in Incoming or Rosa in Welfare who was adopted over the weekend). She also likes Mallee. Who doesn't really like people yet but I am sure she will learn to love the person who feeds her. 

We were keen for her to like Storm. A boy, young cat would be a good idea to go with all those females and he probably met some dogs while he was living at large.

So we opened up the Top Cat and let him out to play with Petal and Koa (Ziggy was adopted over the weekend). They had a fabulous time chasing ping pong balls. Eventually they chased them into the space between Pepper's condo and the wall. I sent Tim W to get them out. He found 11 ping pong balls there!

Later, after she left and Storm went in for a rest, we added Prime who had a fine time. 

Then added Zoe who really wanted to play with all the balls by herself but not with any other cats, thank you. I eventually put on the blue gloves to put her back she was having such a bolshie time.

If you notice a pink washer rolled into the space beside  Pepper's condo, it is to keep the ping pong balls out.

Later on Helen and I rotated Hiccup and Turbo's carrier so that the larger "window" could be opened. They are very friendly cats (especially if you have something delicious to temp them). Now they can't hide so well.

Two of the stand alone kittens in incoming have been desexed. Their collars were off and wet. So I put on clean collars. I think that wink says that the collars will be off as soon as I walk out of the room!

There is another new mum in Incoming. She had four kittens yesterday. Her name is Yahtzee. What are we going to name her kittens? Yvette, Yves, Yvonne, Yosef, Yale, Yasmine. . . . not Yoel!

And Peaches is all alone in Isolation. She has been since March 24 when her kittens were sent to the vet.

Cordelia is a mum

 I could tell that something was going on this morning when she wasn't waiting anxiously for her breakfast. I had a quick peak and saw one baby. Later on I saw another. Don't know if she had them today or I just missed the second one on my first brief peek. Later I got photos:

 We will have to read up on our Shakespeare to get names for them. There may be more by tomorrow.

Bree is getting more relaxed. We need names for her great gingers.

I tried to make friends with Shadow. He was not thrilled but submitted to being touched, briefly. Charley made real friends with him earlier so perhaps he was sick of the attention by the time I got to him.

The other girl Shadow, on the other side of that condo block, renamed Codie, has got the sloppy, smelly poos. She may have got it from Peaches. Peaches and family are at the vets for tlc.

Zoe and Maddy are available for adoption, separately. One of them had inappropriate urinating problems in the home that she came from. So we have not labeled them as a bonded pair. Often two females together, if they are not related, have dominance issues that result in inappropriate peeing.

And Wolfie has gone to his home. A young woman came in to adopt him from the play place. It was a wonderful opportunity to have a final cuddle. I quickly trimmed 6 of his nails before he realised what I was doing. I gave the trimmers to his new owner to finish off the job. All his daughters have been adopted as well.

 So we are back to 2 Willoughby bins. But they only emptied one of them this morning. Tim W phoned the council and they promised to empty it in the next day, or so. What a relief. Because I had schlepped out 22 bags of poo from the balcony, with their resident maggots, into other peoples bins there was only enough trash from today to fill one Cozens bin. I didn't fancy having to transfer bags from the Willoughby bin to the other Cozens bin. It would have been way overweight.

 No surprise, Mateo has been chosen. He will be picked up tomorrow. The woman who adopted him came for two kittens. Why didn't she choose Hui Hui and Daisy May? Put it down to Mateo's charm.

Wolfie sat still and watched. He had a wander time out today too.. . . . we still hope he will become an old persons' home cat.

I think we should swap their stand alone position with Wolfie's so that they are nearest the front door and get seen by the incomers.

Wolfie only has two daughters left on the premises. I got the job of holding them while their condo was cleaned (because we were short on vollies this morning). A hard job but somebody. . . .. (gets lucky).

Zoe, is more confused than grumpy now that she has moved from Incoming to Welfare. This is last week's photo of her in Incoming. Today, she wouldn't stand still for a photo.

Iso family

 I looked up Egyptian names a couple of weeks ago and wrote them on a plastic sheet to blue tack to the wall beside their stand alone. Nobody has moved it. Or changed the names. So, perhaps they have been accepted (or nobody has noticed.) But I will introduce the Iso family who came in with a couple of moslem dressed women who had been looking after them somewhere in the western suburbs. The women were lovely and the cats have turned out to be lovely too. 

The mum is Aziza. You have to feed her in a carrier on top of their stand alone because the kittens were vomiting after scoffing her crunchies. She happily climbs onto your shoulders after meals to get back to her family. Here she is with Adom (ginger male) and Aki (tabby: I couldn't pick the sex a fortnight ago).

Zoe has moved to Welfare. She is newly desexed. And not only did they cut her tummy. . . they cracked one of her whiskers!

More adoptions

 A busy weekend. Not only was Mia adopted but her next door neighbour Harry was adopted too. And so was Felicity the kitten.

 And Teddy and GiGi have been adopted by our Natalie.

Lola is doing well. She is in a small condo and has a huge plastic cone on. But seems to be happy to be home. (The pain killers probably help). There is a fund raising effort on Facebook to try to recoup the price of her operation.

Cordelia was sent to the vet to be desexed. And they discovered that she is pregnant. So she is back in her condo, enjoying the pregnancy rations and looking as slim as she was last week.

 We had a new kitten for a short while. Choco was whisked off to be fostered.

And Mateo is back in a hard collar for another week. He bumped his wound in the soft collar . . . . probably when racing around like a mad thing. He had a turn in the play place where he can't get up to full speed.

Aziza's kittens (in Isolation) are very interested in eating her food. Unfortunately the crunchies make them vomit. So we separate Aziza in a carrier to eat her crunchies with a side of wet food while the littles have just the wet food. They love it.

Fun with the bins today included magots! Somebody filled the Willoughby bin in the basement and it was left there yesterday because two others were taken out to the pavement (including the cracked one that I had left upside down in the basement to NOT be filled).

That cracked bin will be collected by Willoughby council within the next three working days. It is on the sidewalk. . . . upside down.

 Tim is concerned that her tummy is swollen. We had been rather pleased that she has stopped throwing up daily. Bloods and fluids have been taken for testing.

Roisin was on the list for adoption but today isn't because she too has a funny tummy. She has evidence of a particular bacterium that might cause sloppy poos. She had a visitor this afternoon. A woman brought in her nephew (about 5yo) to meet Henry because she really wants a ginger cat. Henry did not like the nephew at all. He hissed and fluffed up his tail. The kid has a big dog at home. Perhaps Henry could smell the dog? But the woman really preferred Roisin. She will be back when her card colour changes.

Two new friendly cats came into Incoming from a grateful cat rescuer who made a donation as well as buying a mug.

I did the adoption paperwork for a pair of kittens, Poppy and Meeka, who had been met while in their foster home. A dad came to make his two children very happy this Valentines Day.

Thor and Eddie are in the stand alone behind Le Clerc. Their sister, Ginger was with them until spotted by a mother and her daughter who were playing with the kittens in the Play Place when I arrived. They made friends with Tallulah (not an easy task) and fell in love with Celine Dion. But Celine has a slightly mucky eye. So when they saw Ginger, it was love at first sight . . . mutually. They took her home.

And another family, Dad and 2 small daughters came in to do the paperwork for Smudge and Xena in foster. They were such nice, polite, listening girls that I am sure those kittens will have a lovely life.

Archie doesn't seem to think his life is much fun. . . . so far. We will wait to see if Geoff's magic works on him.

Where Suki was are a pair of mismatched cats. One, Mad. . . is loud. The other, Zoe hides.

And next door to Chelsea are three kittens who were quite difficult to get back into their condo after they had been let out for a run behind the flattened Top Cat. They are Petal, Ziggy and Koa. Must have come from a foster home. They liked chicken.

I let Le Clerc out for a wander. He enjoyed it. He was very  easy to bribe back into his rearranged stand alone. . . .. all it took was a bit more food.
