Yesterday a young couple came to meet Jane. And met Lucky as well. They couldn't decide.
Today they came back and adopted Lucky. Doesn't she look smug.

I was late getting around to handing out the chicken this afternoon. We had a delivery of litter after we had used up the very last bag. (Thank you M).
Just because there is a big pile, please don't use more than you absolutely have to.Madeline was picked up. Katie always worries that Madeline will die when she is boarding with us because she is over 19 years old. And the C-kitten with possible ringworm went home as well. There is a sign on her condo that it be cleaned with bleach. Tim couldn't see any fluorescence when he shined the Wood's lamp on her lesion. But that only works 50% of the time. They should take her to the vet to have a skin scraping taken. The results won't come back for 3 weeks. In the meantime, Vivienne and Calvin are "no touch" cats.
Milo is still with us. His new person (one of our vollies) is moving house. We must warn her that he will find somewhere high to hide. I had him out for a short while this afternoon and he immediately went to the top of the condos to find a carrier to hide in.

We tried the Top Cat on Biscuit and then on Bella. Neither ventured out even when temped with treats.

The other Charlie in Incoming was at the vet this afternoon having an operation. He survived that but didn't recover from the anesthetic.
Chicken was late with all this. One of the black Rolling Stones, who are getting much bolder, mistook my finger for chicken while I was pushing pieces through the play place mesh. Chomp. . . drip, drip, drip.
The vollies will be pleased that their favourite cuddle kittens are back. But, they were adopted with Cordelia (the last C kitten) who is in boarding for a few days. And Cordelia has a round, bare spot on her left temple. Tim will apply the blue light this evening to see if it is ringworm. If it is, as Cordelia, Calvin and Vivienne were all playmates at home, it will put C & V out of bounds until they get the all ringworm clear.

Another C cat (? Chad) stayed overnight. His owner somehow told us that he was up a tree in Lindfield and had been there for a week. We called Geoff who decided that he couldn't climb the tree to get the cat so called in his Fire Rescue mates for help. They got the cat and he was delivered to Safe. He was desperate to get out of his condo this morning and was madly friendly. Mid morning, his owner arrived and was thrilled to see him. The cat was pretty pleased as well. But, I am sure he complained that he hadn't had enough food all the way home.
The grey kittens from Reception (aka junk room) have moved to the Palace. One was very interested to watch what I was doing. They are Raya, Raven and Rocky.

I finally got around to installing a hammock in Rajah and Genie's stand alone in Incoming. They were delighted but didn't recognise it as something relaxing. Maybe it was the elastic ties, or the shiny metal connectors. Or perhaps it was just SOMETHING NEW!

A lady arrived with huge carrier containing Mum tabby plus 4 lookalikes - all the way from Campbelltown.
They all look well fed, large kittens plus friendly but soooo tired. (Daresay the drive was enough to tire them) ….. except for one! Road weary tabbies
Apparently they’d been dumped in the bush and this kind lady bought them and a lovely bed too which the energetic one claimed as his own! They are gorgeous and I don’t think we’ll have any problems finding them homes. Mum seems chilled too.
Didn’t get any ‘good’ photos as such except for Thelma & Louise (together at last).
I left it on the kitchen bench. How could I do that to our lovely cats? Not to mention to Arc who was looking forward to sharing it out. So I went to the park up the street and picked grass much to the curiosity of a lady walking a mini poodle. She wanted to know why I was picking grass in her park and where I lived!
Lots of the cats recognised grass and were gratefull (eg Lola, Kenzie, Mia. . . ) Others couldn't figure out how to get their whiskers out of the way to eat it.

If you were wondering, like Joy, what happened to Saffron. . . . somebody in his old lady owner's family stepped up and took him into their home.

While I was about it, I checked Chia's kittens as well. The big fluffy black and white is a girl. She may get as large as Ernie the boarder! The other two black kittens are one of each gender, otherwise indistinguishable.

After all Dean's effort to get the poo bags out on time, the garbos didn't come today. Shit!
There were heaps of vollies so the work got done in record time which meant that lots of cats got to be out together with lots of supervisors/cuddlers. Milo thought there was too much action at ground level so jumped to the trolly, to the top of Maxwell's stand alone, then straight up to the top of the condos. All we could see of him were his ears behind the row of carriers. There he stayed until Rosanna arrived with a very tall American, and his daughter (perhaps). He didn't need much talking into to help get Milo down. And Milo didn't need much prompting from the giant. I popped him back into his condo.
Later when the vollies had gone and it was quieter, I let out Maxwell (so that I could change his hammocks). He is a very handsome cat with stricking markings and black balls. Callie thought he was lovely and chirruped at him.

Later a mother arrived with her 2 kids: girl about 8 and boy about 6. The kids, and dad, want a cat. She hasn't had one before. Daughter wants a kitten. Son wants a cat who will love him completely. Mum was undecided. Dad is in Melbourne. They will be back. Today the choice was between Simon, Miranda and Milo. Milo was very good with the overactive, loud boy.

In Quarantine, where Joy slaved away, there are some kittens who might be added to their not-so-short list:
Aster |
Dahlia |
And if they are prepared to wait a little longer there is always Adele's three in the Junk Room. And others.

Aslan is old Turkish for a lion, Auslan is Australian sign language, ASL is American Sign Language. The picture tells a thousand words.

I met him for the first time today. You only need hand gestures to become his friend. He has a wonky leg (back right). He probably broke it some years ago and it has "healed" in the wrong conformation. If it gives him pain, it might be kinder to amputate the leg. But, so far he seems happy.
He has moved into Salazar's condo because Salazar succumbed to his heart condition and died yesterday. The last months that he has spent with us have probably been the best in his life. Always a lap and a hug, plenty of food, no street dangers, nobody making cracks about his lumpy chin or knobbly legs.

Six cats adopted today! This is a record for a Wednesday, I think. And a suitable send off for Lucy who will be on her way back to the UK in a couple of days.
All the C kittens who were in the play place have been adopted. They are her favourites. (But if we had got Tabby and Tibby adopted she would have flown home under her own power!)
Collars off and out of here |
Then a couple and their friend came looking for a pair of cats: they were thinking of the C kittens but were too late. They settled on Calvin and Vivienne. And snaffled the last C kitten as well. Calvin and Vivienne were in separate carry cages. Vivienne extended her paw to Calvin in his carrier. (Of course, as soon as I grabbed my camera, she pulled her paw back in. But her new owner was deeply touched).
Joy cleaned up the Quarantine kids again. Maggie's 5 kittens have just opened their eyes.

I set up all the boarders condos. So Better Row looks occupied if you look at litter trays. But there is only Joni at one end and Bo at the other end.
The usual suspects have moved next door to Dr Kim's. Mia is much happier there. She has an upper condo and I think she feels more secure at face level rather than at leg level. (Perhaps she had too many kicks in her former life).
There is a new mum and kittens in both Reception (aka the junk room) and in Incoming. The kitten season seems to never end.
