Adoption Tails: Ronnie

 Ronnie

1 day: Ronnie is doing well. She's been renamed to Peri (like the Peri-peri sauce). She found a safe place in the coat closet and has been nesting there for all of Saturday and most of Sunday. Around 11pm Sunday, she decided to come out and roll around and race in and out the room. Peri looked tense but decided to explore the apartment so the owners have left the room door open now for her to come and go as she pleases. She still has her closet as her own space. Peri is eating lots but not drinking much water so the owner has been mixing in water in her wet food. She likes chin and back scratches, not yet trusting enough for the owner to hold her but that is fine.

1 week: Peri's doing fine. She eats well. She sleeps during the day and comes out after 10pm and races around the house on her own, for hours on end. The owners call her "party girl". She still runs away when they come closer but would jump up to cuddle if they are in bed. Peri does not touch a single drop of water. They got her a cat fountain but have yet to see her drink from it. They have been mixing water into her food which she cleans the plate every time. She loves wet food and raw food. The owners think she is hydrated enough because she pees more than once a day and poos once a day.

1 month: Peri's doing well. She sleeps during the day and plays at night til dawn. She has two cat trees, a cat tunnel, a cat cave made from cardboard and lots of toys which she plays with all of them. She uses the litter robot like a pro. She treats the owners like peers/parents because she likes to invite them to play from under the bed and naps next to them at night (only a nap because she will later roam around the house and play on her own). She also likes to sit by the windows, either to sunbathe or to spy on people on the street. She loves food, both wet and dry. Still drinking very little water but the owner boiled chicken bones without salt to make stock for her and she seems to love drinking that. Overall, Peri is healthy, happy and the owners love her.

One new bin collected

The cardboard recycle bin was still full when I left this afternoon but the other trash bin was empty. So we now have 3 rubbish bins. Bliss.

Maeve was adopted earlier in the week. A woman adopted from us a year or two ago and then had a stroke and had to give her cat back to us. She is now all ready for another cat to love. Maeve will be perfect as she only wants somebody to sit beside to purr to.

Pearl would like somebody to purr to too. She is still in the heavenly condo. And Samson has moved in below her. He has come from his foster home because they are going away, on holiday. He looks very big for 6 months!

Virgo's kittens love the play place. I cannot imagine having a litter of kittens at home. They would be all over the place at full speed constantly, unless asleep in a pile.
Virgo's lot play
Ronnie and Jagger learned to climb and jump in the play place too. Ronnie likes scaling the opened-out Top Cat to get on top of the condos. But he is very easy to get down because he is exceedingly fond of food.
His highness Ronnie

Luigi, Princess and Maria have moved into the main room because Hank has developed flu like symptoms. They were wheeled in their stand alones. Here they are exploring the Top Cat. They soon found the way under the stand alone to explore further. Maria was the hardest to corner. But we did it, with food in a carry cage.
Luigi out, Princess soon out
And we have Cookie, Muffin and Venus next to Chia et al. One of them spent all day tucked up in the modesty sheet. They are not allowed out.

Still no new bins

And, the garbos came early! Must be a new crew because as well as being early, they were extra neat. But it means that the bins are already full of yesterday's bags and we will have to all take home a bag or the balcony will be overfilled by next week.

There were adoptions so we had condos to sterilize and cats to move.

Another Stones kitten, Mick, was adopted so only Jagger and Ronnie were left on the play place. They moved into where Rajah and Genie were as they were adopted separately over the weekend. Virgo and her 6 kittens moved into the play place. The kittens had a marvelous time running, jumping, climbing. They will sleep soundly tonight. Virgo found a nice corner to lie in and was quiet for the first time ever.

Marmalade and Duchess were also adopted yesterday. Their condo is now occupied by Narnia and Angel from Quarantine. Cammie had some trouble to get them to go into a carrier and ended up just picking them up and carrying them there. We did the same thing for Jagger and Ronnie. Big kittens are more tractable than adult cats!

Narnia and Angel

Cammy thought it would be a good idea to let out McQueen and Donatella. Previously McQueen played around outside and Donatella stayed in the stand alone. This afternoon she came out to play and had such a good time that she didn't want to go back into the stand alone. Ginger George played ball with them.
Tiger supervised the play
On the other side of the Top Cat barrier, Simon and Maxwell played separately (as long as there was somebody to twitch the toy.) Later Aslan came out, climbed over the Top Cat and settled back to groom himself. When I lifted him back into his condo, he felt damp.

There is a new kitten in Incoming called Roger. He is a mess.
but cute, Roger

Calvin and Vivienne are back

The vollies will be pleased that their favourite cuddle kittens are back. But, they were adopted with Cordelia (the last C kitten) who is in boarding for a few days. And Cordelia has a round, bare spot on her left temple. Tim will apply the blue light this evening to see if it is ringworm. If it is, as Cordelia, Calvin and Vivienne were all playmates at home, it will put C & V out of bounds until they get the all ringworm clear.

Calvin and Vivienne
The folk who adopted C & V just found 3 kittens in the house too much. And the landlord wasn't that thrilled.

Another C cat (? Chad) stayed overnight. His owner somehow told us that he was up a tree in Lindfield and had been there for a week. We called Geoff who decided that he couldn't climb the tree to get the cat so called in his Fire Rescue mates for help. They got the cat and he was delivered to Safe. He was desperate to get out of his condo this morning and was madly friendly. Mid morning, his owner arrived and was thrilled to see him. The cat was pretty pleased as well. But, I am sure he complained that he hadn't had enough food all the way home.

The grey kittens from Reception (aka junk room) have moved to the Palace. One was very interested to watch what I was doing. They are Raya, Raven and Rocky.

Or perhaps they were interested in what the Stones kittens were doing in the Play Place:
Mick or Ronnie

I finally got around to installing a hammock in Rajah and Genie's stand alone in Incoming. They were delighted but didn't recognise it as something relaxing. Maybe it was the elastic ties, or the shiny metal connectors. Or perhaps it was just SOMETHING NEW!
