Still no new bins

 And, the garbos came early! Must be a new crew because as well as being early, they were extra neat. But it means that the bins are already full of yesterday's bags and we will have to all take home a bag or the balcony will be overfilled by next week.

There were adoptions so we had condos to sterilize and cats to move.

Another Stones kitten, Mick, was adopted so only Jagger and Ronnie were left on the play place. They moved into where Rajah and Genie were as they were adopted separately over the weekend. Virgo and her 6 kittens moved into the play place. The kittens had a marvelous time running, jumping, climbing. They will sleep soundly tonight. Virgo found a nice corner to lie in and was quiet for the first time ever.

Marmalade and Duchess were also adopted yesterday. Their condo is now occupied by Narnia and Angel from Quarantine. Cammie had some trouble to get them to go into a carrier and ended up just picking them up and carrying them there. We did the same thing for Jagger and Ronnie. Big kittens are more tractable than adult cats!

Cammy thought it would be a good idea to let out McQueen and Donatella. Previously McQueen played around outside and Donatella stayed in the stand alone. This afternoon she came out to play and had such a good time that she didn't want to go back into the stand alone. Ginger George played ball with them.

On the other side of the Top Cat barrier, Simon and Maxwell played separately (as long as there was somebody to twitch the toy.) Later Aslan came out, climbed over the Top Cat and settled back to groom himself. When I lifted him back into his condo, he felt damp.

There is a new kitten in Incoming called Roger. He is a mess.

. . .  on the right side of Virgo's condo. There is a screwdriver in a jar on top of the filing cabinet to tighten it up. Nothing wrong with Virgo that won't be cured by her kittens growing up.

Vicky wanted photos of some of the cats that need to go up on the Adoption list. Joy took some beauties. I helped Vicky find out what the cats are like.

Maxwell is a love. He chirrups and loves to play and although he looks a bit rough he is really a sweetie.

Maeve is out on Better Row and hides on her upper shelf. I climbed the ladder and found that she wasn't a bit interested in the creamy treat but was very interested in being patted and petted.

She can't mix with other cats in Welfare because of her infection history. Her kittens, Rajah and Genie have been moved to Welfare and have the same quarantine restriction. They are where Milo used to be. Milo is around the back in Boarding.

McQueen and Donatella have been taken off the adoption list (I thought they had been chosen) because they have an intestinal infection that is being treated. I decided not to change their hammocks which are looking grubby.

They had an interesting afternoon because Cammy decided to tidy up the merch shelves. They look much better. We decided that duplicate of cat beds can be stored elsewhere (in Opies Room). And I think we should give everybody who adopts a cat a free cat bed for the rest of the month. . . . at least.

Calvin and Vivienne are back

 The vollies will be pleased that their favourite cuddle kittens are back. But, they were adopted with Cordelia (the last C kitten) who is in boarding for a few days. And Cordelia has a round, bare spot on her left temple. Tim will apply the blue light this evening to see if it is ringworm. If it is, as Cordelia, Calvin and Vivienne were all playmates at home, it will put C & V out of bounds until they get the all ringworm clear.

The folk who adopted C & V just found 3 kittens in the house too much. And the landlord wasn't that thrilled. 

Another C cat (? Chad) stayed overnight. His owner somehow told us that he was up a tree in Lindfield and had been there for a week. We called Geoff who decided that he couldn't climb the tree to get the cat so called in his Fire Rescue mates for help. They got the cat and he was delivered to Safe. He was desperate to get out of his condo this morning and was madly friendly. Mid morning, his owner arrived and was thrilled to see him. The cat was pretty pleased as well. But, I am sure he complained that he hadn't had enough food all the way home.

The grey kittens from Reception (aka junk room) have moved to the Palace. One was very interested to watch what I was doing. They are Raya, Raven and Rocky.

I finally got around to installing a hammock in Rajah and Genie's stand alone in Incoming. They were delighted but didn't recognise it as something relaxing. Maybe it was the elastic ties, or the shiny metal connectors. Or perhaps it was just SOMETHING NEW!

Ginger George conquers Vicky

 This afternoon when it was quiet, I let Ginger George out for a wander. Vicky said that she is wary of him. So I sat him on my lap and brushed him. Gave the brush to Vicky. Ginger wandered over to her to get more. Love at first brush stroke!

Earlier she asked me about Salazar because she was writing up his profile. I told her how cuddly he is. Eventually a vollie was giving him a hug (or vice versa) and I told her to take him into Opey's room where Vicky was so that she could see for herself what a smoocher he is. He reminds me of Jimmy Durante . . . . short, kind of ugly but very lovable with a great voice. Here is a photo of him when he had been with us for less than a week.

Around 3:30pm a couple arrived laden with bags of "towels and sheets". I said "thank you for the towels but no thank you to the sheets". They gave us one bag of towels (4) and took away 5 bags of sheets. (Phew). They got the quick whip around to meet the cats as a reward for thinking of us as they downsize. They have a cat at home who they hope to pass on to a daughter-in-law. As it is a Burmese, I am sure that that will work.

Royal Visit

Tim visited Prince and Rajah. He reports that they are happy and more comfortable. They were in the same area as the rather wild kittens that Tim went to pick up. While the kittens were being chased and caught they ran right over Prince and Rajah in their bed. The regal oldies were not disturbed.

I didn't see the new kittens as we were three to clean up this morning. I took advantage of the extra time to give Kimmy, Kitty and Scarlet a thorough brushing. They loved it. And were much calmer after the extra attention. Perhaps all that loose hair itches or wriggles.

We have a new three year old. Narla is very like my Puffin but is completely black. Puffin was grey near her skin.. . . not that I got close enough to part Narla's coat.

Shivers has his collar off and seems much brighter. The vet is happy to leave his lumpy tummy alone for the moment. Another, wait and see what happens case. Just like Peanuts. The vet can't decide whether he has been desexed but not microchipped (unlikely) or has two undescended testicles (very unlikely). So we will wait and see. Peanuts also enjoyed the extra attention I gave him. So much so that I trimmed his nails because lots of loving is never enough and he tends to hold on tight if you try to move away from him. (No photo because he doesn't look any less cream and black rather than white and black. He still needs a bath).

Jewell's kittens have names

The only one we know for sure is the girl whose name is Jill. The other names are Jack, James and Josh. The vet knows. Tim suspects the gingers are Jack and James.

Lil Ging has had her name changed to Sienna. "But that is a girl's name", I said. "She is a girl", Tim said. . . . Really.

The mum with tiny kitten's has been named Candace. And her sister is Bonnie.

Shivers is in the wars again. He was desexed last week but this week he has had an operation to removed an abdominal "cyst". It hasn't stopped his purrs. And his coat is looking splendid.

Sandy had done a wonderful cleaning job so I could get on with feeding grass to the cats.

I noticed that Kimmy was sticking to her blanket and her foam pad so decided to trim her nails. She didn't want to come onto my lap on a chair, so I climbed up into her condo to do the job. I also did Kitty's. She was happy to sit on my knee on the chair but she has one funny lump of fur above a claw on her right front paw. Keep your eye on it.

Rajah and Prince don't do grass. So I brushed them instead. They look better and enjoyed being brushed with the brush with plastic tips on its metal tines.

I almost got Charlie to come out of his "shell" for grass. I can't decide if he is a snail or a tortoise. That basket will have to go with him.

Today was easier than Wednesday because I know where everything is now plus, I cleaned it properly on Wednesday and it is still clean today. . . mostly. . . . except for some cats who are deep diggers.

As usual, Ming and Ninja exploded when Tim fed them this morning so that their food was all over the floor. I picked up as much of it as I could and gave it back to them. Ming put his foot on some of the crunchies to stop Ninja from getting his fair share. 

I had time to groom the long haired cats. Annabelle did not like it. She is a shaved Persian. But she has knots in the unshaved areas around her head and her tail is a mess. I did what I could in the time that she was prepared to tolerate. About 3.2 minutes worth.

Then I moved to the royal suite of Rajah and Prince. Earlier Rajah condescended to eat when I held his bowl for him.  Rajah has a collar and is on the upper level.

Prince had a wet bed because somebody had upset the water bowl. . . . no fingers/claws are pointed. I changed his bed to a pink velour with an ersatz fleece which he accepted, eventually. Then, after cleaning the other cats I came back and picked him up to brush him (those last seven words should be in indignant capitals). But, because he is a ragdoll, he put up with it. He even purred. And looks ever so much better for a gentle brush.

I also did Rajah who is much thinner. He has a nobbly spine. He tolerated it.

So the royal ragdolls are all spruced up so that somebody can come to adopt them this weekend.
