 Kiwi came back today. According to Irene: he was meowing all night and kept all the housemates awake. He is where Muffin was so can be the first cat that folk see when they come in (if they don't pass by the merch shelves that still look clean and neat!) Kiwi spent the day sleeping.

There was a goodly number of vollies. And more folk came in the afternoon to check us out before volunteering. (And or adopting/fostering a cat). For the first time that I can remember, the dust pans and brushes got washed! As well as the brooms!!

The brooms were sodden so I took them outside to the roof of my car to dry out. Later in the day, Tim couldn't find them when he moved the Rascal to Rayven enclosures to have installed an exhaust column that will suck the bad smells out of the "factory floor". Strange. I hadn't noticed any smell. But I sure can hear the machine humming.

Enzo's "kittens" went for their vet check. They were quite easy to get into carry cages but I don't think they enjoyed their day out from the look of them when they returned. All three hid under the scratchy pole shrouded blanket. Their names are Raven, Rouge and Riley. Enzo has gone to his forever home.

Persephone has been declared ring worm free. So is able to be "handled". Which means that she will crawl all over your shoulders given half a chance and suck/chew on your hair.

Here is one of Bubble and Squeak mesmerized by a toy that was donated. It has to be charged by the same plug that charges the phone. I reorganised their enclosure so that they could have more floor space for it to perform in.

 The F kittens are very relaxed. Saving their energy for the next time they get adopted.

 And we have 7 kittens in one double condo in the Transit Lounge. Who knows if they all had the same mum. They need names!

Tim's new skill is numbering enclosures.

The numbers start at Lola and Pixie on the wall away from the office closest to the line of AWL condos.

 And end at 36 where Salt and Pepper are finally coming out from behind the sheets.

Across the way is Rascal in 37 to Clover in 39. Roxie is in 40 across the gap with Julie and Bassuria beside her in 41. The old AWL condos start with Marcy and Indie in 21 with Cheeto below in 22 and end with Peanut (aka Princess) at the other end of the line in 29.

Upstairs Dinesh is in D3. I assume (didn't look) that Raphaella (on the other side of the door) is in D1, etc. Raven is in D7.

Across the aisle, S1 has a boarder, Olive who moved in today. She didn't take long to settle into a hammock. (Which shows bravery because most cats wouldn't have ever seen a hammock before).

Gideon is at the end of that row of enclosures in S5. This afternoon he was curled up so tight you couldn't see his ears.

Yahtzee has become much tamer

Their names are Battleship (brown tabby), Dice (white tail tip), Scrabble (black) and Bopit (all cream).

The photo of Pikachu on the Safe website is not good. She is getting more confident now that she is not in the busy lane. I am not sure how much she can see.

Lola's stand alone has been filled by a cat called Aldi. No prizes for guessing where he was found. He was brought in by one of our cat "rescuers" who is going to retire.

There may be a couple of adoptions tomorrow by separate women who came in to scout our collection. One was looking for a kitten for her 5 year old son. Then she met Shadow and fell in love. I could almost hear the thump as she fell! It was mutual too. Shadow even got out of his bed box to continue their love-in. She will be back tomorrow so that the son can choose the cat.

 I changed Trude and Prue's upper hammock for a clean one without the damage on the underside. They were not happy to be disturbed. I wonder how long it will take them to try the new one.

Teddy the cat who was surrendered on Wednesday and put in the celestial condo has been moved to where Raven was below Peaches in Welfare. If cats get adopted over the weekend, there will be more movements.

 Lola seems to have accepted her new, smaller stand alone. She does spend all of her time in Opies room except for a foray into her standalone if her breakfast is not delivered to her there. So her erstwhile larger stand alone is now occupied by Rubia and Ryan. Ryan has been desexed and is ready to go. Rubia needs a vet check etc. They only had one hammock and Ryan slept in it all day with Rubia on a hard shelf. I took pity on her and installed a second hammock. Which he promptly claimed.

I also changed Mia's narrow hammock for a wider one. I've never seen her using the narrow one. But soon after I installed the wider one. . . . . sorry about the silly camera which focuses on the foreground, but you get the idea.

There were scads of volunteers so the work got done early and every cat that wanted a cuddle got one. Yin and Yan actually ate their breakfast so I spent time with them and was rewarded with purrs and nudges for more. They are sweet cats.

Helen came to help this afternoon. She wanted Meatball to have time out. And he had a fabulous time chasing a ping pong ball. . . . and careening into bits of furniture. The expression on his face was just like that on the sticker cat on Tim's filing cabinet.

We let Cooper out for a wander early in the afternoon. He went around introducing himself gently to the other cats and settled on the odd person's lap. He spent lots of time on the shelf on the back wall of Welfare communing with Raya (or is it Raven). Everything went well. Until it came to feeding time and he wasn't in his stand alone (Charlie had been there earlier). After a search I found him on the poof under the front desk. Sensible cat.

We had a busy day today because there were not as many vollies as usual on a Friday. Even Geoff wasn't there as he was in Melbourne.

So I did the evening feed and the last thing check that everybody had water, etc. It was funny to see the cats all settled down for the night. They weren't expecting to see me again and had given up hope of a second serve of chicken.

Even Henry was in his igloo. He had a lovely time earlier running around with the low barrier only just keeping him constrained. He was helping Robyn make friends with Raven. (Raven wasn't having a bar of friendship but she did enjoy the Greenies)

Talking of igloos. I keep pushing Mickey's under the shelf and it keeps on sliding forward towards the perspex. Never see Mickey doing it. It must be magic. (Not the cat who is still hiding in her condo on Better Row and is still ? ringworm)

Lola was sound asleep in her stand alone. On Wednesday morning when I arrived early she was very pleased to see me because she had spent the night in Opie's room. She let me pat her before jumping into her stand alone to eat her last night's dinner's crunchies.

We have Jacqui's two cats, Callie and Sootie. They are to go into the play place. Pickles and her kittens had a lovely time there this morning. Callie and Sootie did not enjoy the enclosure even after I added a hammock.

We also have Katie's cats filling up Boarding row. You will recognise several of them. So we are quite full, again.

Short visit

 I had to take the husband to the eye doc for another injection today. And the traffic was terrible so the regular staff/vollies arrived late. But we made it in time and he is having a lie down now.

Calvin and Vivienne are back

 The vollies will be pleased that their favourite cuddle kittens are back. But, they were adopted with Cordelia (the last C kitten) who is in boarding for a few days. And Cordelia has a round, bare spot on her left temple. Tim will apply the blue light this evening to see if it is ringworm. If it is, as Cordelia, Calvin and Vivienne were all playmates at home, it will put C & V out of bounds until they get the all ringworm clear.

The folk who adopted C & V just found 3 kittens in the house too much. And the landlord wasn't that thrilled. 

Another C cat (? Chad) stayed overnight. His owner somehow told us that he was up a tree in Lindfield and had been there for a week. We called Geoff who decided that he couldn't climb the tree to get the cat so called in his Fire Rescue mates for help. They got the cat and he was delivered to Safe. He was desperate to get out of his condo this morning and was madly friendly. Mid morning, his owner arrived and was thrilled to see him. The cat was pretty pleased as well. But, I am sure he complained that he hadn't had enough food all the way home.

The grey kittens from Reception (aka junk room) have moved to the Palace. One was very interested to watch what I was doing. They are Raya, Raven and Rocky.

I finally got around to installing a hammock in Rajah and Genie's stand alone in Incoming. They were delighted but didn't recognise it as something relaxing. Maybe it was the elastic ties, or the shiny metal connectors. Or perhaps it was just SOMETHING NEW!
