Today we moved Rosie's kittens down from upstairs to the Voonie enclosure. All the V's except Vegas have been adopted. He has moved to Lola's small stand alone. Perhaps I should rename that to Jimmy's twice adopted stand alone. As we were short staffed (THANK YOU Catsie for coming to help out) I cleaned upstairs so got to clean the Rosie stand alone and move Gideon into it. It will be warmer for him overnight in "the office". He is eating very well but seems to have forgotten about getting to the litter tray.

The entertainment for the Rosie kittens was when Kenny and Pablo made a dash from their enclosure. Pablo was a snap to get back in. . . . just open the door with food in your hand. But Kenny got all confused and ran back and forwards until he saw Pablo inside and rushed to join him.

Pablo was unaffected

Kenny was shocked

Robyn visited and Rascal took to her. That back scratcher has done wonders for Rascal.

And Robyn noticed the fabulous curls in Muffin's ears. (Her right eye looked a bit weepy but it might just have been the colouration there).

Ravyn wasn't feeling well. She declined to go for a walk. Even though she has a smart new harness and leash donated by a woman who wanted to give us a litter tray. (Thanks but no thankyou).

Ravyn not as usual

And Pishi is on an "all you can eat" diet under vet's instructions. She is wallowing in it.

Jimmy doubles up

I redressed the small stand alone (used to be Lola's until she got free range of Safe) for the second time in a week. Jimmy was adopted the day after he was returned. He was a good investment for us with twice the return. I hope he won't be back again.

A mum brought her three kids to look at our cats. Most of our cats looked at them and said "No way". The only ones I would recommend were the ex parvovirus pair who are big enough to leap out of the way of 3 kids. Terry, they plan to return tomorrow with Dad after tai quan do (if that is how you spell it). I think they would be better off with a dog. Billy (accidentally) scratched the little girl which created a dreadful screech.

Billy

The igloo I built for Gideon on Wednesday seems to be doing him good. (Of course, it might be the very expensive medicine that is making him hungrier and more mobile). He was eager for his breakfast and every other offer of food. He and Dinesh egg each other on. Please heat up his two hotties.

Oreo was in a pleading mood today. Don't quite know what his problem is (except that he is half the size he was when he came to us). I tightened up his scratchy house which was wobbly).  Ravyn (next door) was quiet. Didn't demand a walk. While Oreo wanted. . . . .

Oreo

Geoff came to remake a "Incoming/Transit" pair of condos into one four roomed suite. He also patched the holes in the side of the Mona Vale condos where the parvovirus kittens are housed. There were holes in the side that the two remaining kittens discovered and took advantage of to break out of confinement. All this happened while I was dealing with the mum plus 3. Thank goodness for Lani who corralled the kittens and secured the site.

Geoff, the man with the right tool
Bonnie, in Isolation, was entertaining herself by scratching her bedroom door today while being observed by her vollie who stayed back to "do Iso". So we decided to give her one of the cardboard scratchy pads in her bedroom. Thereafter all the vollie could hear was "scratch, scratch, scratch" for the bedroom. She had a lovely time.

Jumping Jimmy

Emily sent an email overnight asking for more vollies as only 2 were able to come to Mona Vale today. But Sharon was training a couple of new vollies today and a bloke responded to Em's message so we did fine.

Especially as there was a string of adopters and potential adopters. Jimmy was returned first thing. Evidently the resident cat, an older female, sat outside his door and growled continuously. This didn't bother Jimmy too much but it did bother the husband who, after 4 days presented the choice "either the cats goes or I do" or words to that effect. So amid tears from mum and daughter, Jimmy was returned to the stand alone that he left on Friday.

Another Mother/daughter couple arrived shortly afterwards and couldn't decide between him and Kathy. They are happy to come back in a few days when Jimmy's paperwork has been sorted out and the rest of the family consulted.

The two Voonie kittens were whisked away by the bloke who adopted them on Friday. (Her desex wound being just fine). The remaining V kitten is now calm with her mum. No longer any screeching at meal times.

Voonie + last one
Another couple came in looking for an older cat. They rather liked Peanut but Enzo was in good form because his fosterer had visited and given him some attention. They, too, will return.

I left my phone at home so will fall back on Joy's lovely photos.

Ravyn
Somebody sold the bed that Ravyn liked on the merch shelves. She looked for it on her walk this morning.

Catsie cleaned "Incoming" and had a hard time cleaning Earl Grey's condo. Billy has moved to Jimmy's old stand alone since Goat was adopted so she had to clean that condo too.

Rosie's kittens seem healthier. Rosie has a cold.

Busy afternoon

The morning was well controlled. Just the right number of vollies. No visitors.

A woman rang to ask about Peanut. Lovely cat, says I. I will visit, says she. She arrived and met Princess Peanut who was gracious at first but soon got sick of it, as usual. The woman had lots to tell me about her situation and needs. I almost got her to take away the covered litter box that obstructs the feeding corner.  She will return.

Then just as I was thinking about lunch there was a phone call about Honey. Was he available? Yes! They came. In fact, they had driven from Maitland to adopt a ginger cat for her mother from another establishment this morning. Just as they got off the freeway the other place rang them to say the cat they wanted had just been adopted. Sensibly, she searched on her phone and found Honey. Rang and they came. And they liked him. He liked them. . . .  but he is like that.

Just as they were sitting down to adopt him, David arrived so I handed over the paperwork to him so I could attend to the mother and daughter who had come in 2 minutes before looking for a cat to keep company with their adult female. I just had time to say "a boy would be better than a girl" and told them how to tell who was available. They wandered around until they got to Jimmy whom I had moved to Lola's stand alone (the small one) but half an hour before. The daughter fell in love. And Jimmy loves anybody who loves him. His mum was adopted over the weekend so he hasn't forgotten how to live with an older female cat. . . . . . match made in heaven. David had another adoption to do.

Then the bloke who loves Vulcan arrived with his lady friend who loves Velvet. By this time Irene had arrived and she took over doing that adoption. The V's are still with us because Velvet was only desexed on Tuesday and we need to monitor her incision for a few days more. Plus she can't keep a collar on with her voracious brothers around.

I didn't have time to take any photos. Will add some of Joy's from Wednesday.

Earl Grey now has sloppy poos. (I can't spell dyer-reha, either)

Earl Grey

Rosie's kittens still are having the occasional vomit. This morning I was confused when I found yellow water in their bowl. Perhaps they have some medication in it. Tim suggested that they had wee'd into it.

Rosie's innocent kittens
Ravyn demands a walk daily. She now has a second box because I bought a pair of navy ankle boots which came in a very stylish box which I just had to give to her. The person who wants a cat that she can take for walks came over the weekend. But as she was contemplating walking that cat in the dog park, we didn't advise her to take Ravyn. Ravyn would have attacked the dogs.

Litter delivery

The lovely vollie who delivered the bags of litter says that the place we get it from is closing up shop. He is taking home, to his shed, the bags that they have left. And we are stocked up for a while. At the rate we are adopting out cats, those small bags may be gone by August.

I took the opportunity to put the drying table closer to the vollie's work space.

And the bins are close to the roller door. The nice vollie took the pallet away.
Jimmy is by himself because Bluebelle, his mum got adopted over the weekend. I didn't really think they were "a bonded pair."
Jimmy
And Eleanor lost a couple of her kittens.
Eleanor + 1

She is left with Erica and Evie who were sucking on her tummy this afternoon.

Little Pebble left the building. She has gone to a foster to adopt home because she wasn't happy with her erstwhile house mates.

Little Pebble

A woman rang up asking for a cat that she can take for walks. We suggested Ravyn. She was going to visit before 4pm if she could get a lift. Didn't arrive. Perhaps tomorrow?

Ravyn
Where Peaches and family were we have Kenny and Pablo. Don't know who is whom. One is very friendly and the other is hiding.

And the boarder Ottie is out of hiding. He was adopted from us. I don't recognise him but he accepted a pat from me.

Ottie

Roisin adopted again

Let's hope it is for good this time. Because her stand alone was emptied, a pair of foster cats came in. They are Alladin and Jasmin. They are VERY shy. Their fosterer came in today to give them their favourite bed but they still look terrified. I decided that being inside the front door opposite the desk where the phone rings and folk talk all day is perhaps not the best place for them. So I swapped them for Le Clerc (ie I moved the stand alones around).

Hiding Alladin and Jasmine
LeClerc is now the meeter and greeter cat and likes it.
Sue and Le Clerc
Mylo has gone too. And Jimmy will be picked up on Sunday.

Coco Cranfield is visiting again. She was very chatty today.

Coco
There are new kittens in Incoming including Griffon and 3 in C20

Amelia, Lexie, Loki (ginger)

Griffon

Souffle and co had several inquiry phone calls today. They might be ready on Friday. If so, there might be a "I got here first" fight for Souffle.

Adoption Tails: Johnny, Aladdin

 Mack, previously Johnny

1 day: He’s doing really well. Very quiet and smoochy. Lots of purrs and love bites. He hasn’t eaten much but is drinking and toileting fine. A few hisses at the other cats and dog under the door which is normal. But he doesn’t seem to be too stressed about anything. The owner has renamed him ‘Mack’.

Johnny = Mack, 1 day

1 week: Mack is doing really well. Still a few hisses here and there at the resident cats and dog but no actual confrontations. He is a very funny little man. Super affectionate and sassy. Very big voice! "I love him." The owner thinks he will be fine, just needs a little longer for all the pets to get to know each other.
Mack and dog, 1 month
1 month: Mack has certainly made himself at home now. He is an absolute crack up. Very boisterous and cheeky and insanely greedy. "He is mad and I love him".
Mack + 2, 1 month

Toshi, previously Aladdin

1 day: Aladdin is settling in beautifully. He wasn’t keen to stay in his safe room and he had been out roaming and playing. He is very affectionate, gentle and inquisitive. He is eating and drinking (preferably from the owner's glass of water). The family loves him! They are working through names at the moment and will be deciding on one over dinner tonight. He’s used the litter tray as well as a couple of other spots in the house (He’s only toileted on the family's old dog’s bed so the owner thinks it may have been marking more than anything else. They will keep him in his safe place (the laundry) with short periods out in the connected lounge area.

1 week: Toshi is the perfect kitten. He is confident and curious, chilled and playful. Knows where his toilet is which makes for a happy cat mum and has been exploring the house.

1 month: Toshi rules the roost! He is divine and the whole family loves him dearly. He loves exploring the backyard (under supervision) and to play with leaves which he brings in from outside throughout the day. He's started taking to the wife's pillow early in the morning and licking her forehead. His favourite spot to sleep is still on the wife's desk while she works. They will have a golden retriever puppy arriving in 3 weeks, so that will be a transition for Toshi but they have done the research to introduce the two mindfully and carefully. The family will make sure the pup "knows who's boss". Toshi will also have access to areas of the house the puppy will not, so he can feel secure and safe. The family is so happy Toshi came into their lives. "Thank you SAFE for bringing us together and for raising him with love until he was ready to join our family."

Tiny faces

Steph took photos of the babies after I washed them on Friday.

Although I did wash their faces, it doesn't look like it.

Message from cousin Mary about Jimmy:

Yes, Jonathan has just given Jimmy some kedgeree. Jonathan says he loves jumping up onto the kitchen table and really wants to eat what he is eating! I said he has to push him off the table and bar! Jonathan sounded reluctant. He thinks I should push him off!

My friend Gerry arrives this afternoon to stay and will put all to rights! She does cat and dog sitting. Do you know anyone who needs a sitter?

Jimmy jumps up behind Jonathan on the sofa (when J is reading) and sits up there looking out the window purring.

I have found some bamboo so will get him more active!
Yes Jonathan is good with spoiling.
Jimmy looks thinner. He is pretty active.

Not for long.

Visit to Jimmy

I dropped the leash by to Jimmy this morning at around 10am. He was in the closet when I arrived but soon came out for cuddles.

I put the leash on him easily (he didn't fight it). He got out of it as easily as he is slenderer than Cody . . .  or has less hair. I tightened it up a bit.

He is already asking to go out onto the front courtyard (an easy leap over the fence to the street so I hope that doesn't happen.) He spent last night on the bed with Mary and J. He wants to explore the rest of the house. He has chatted, eaten, rubbed his cheek on everything and charmed them completely already.

Jimmy adopted

Couldn't have happened to an nicer cat. And I am lucky that he has been adopted by my cousin so that he is now a member of my family.

Jimmy
I will try to get a photo of him tomorrow in situ, in North Sydney when I drop off the harness that Cody no longer needs.*

Jimmy will need to learn to walk on a leash because my cousin has a house at Bar Point which is up the Hawkesbury River, accessible only by boat. There is no road on Bar Point, just a line of houses along the waterfront. So Jimmy will have to learn where his property lines are by being walked to them, and not beyond them, on the leash. Luckily today, he went into his new carry cage like an angel.

Today might have been the last time that I need to wash the bottoms of the tiny kittens. They have been seen grooming each other and their poos are much firmer. The boy didn't need to be dunked into the bath to soften the poo on his rear end today. But the girl did need a dunk to get the poo from between her toes. From which I infer that she is cleaning him better than he is cleaning her.

* Cody and I have trained each other for outside walks. Yesterday morning there was a brush turkey in the back yard. Cody snuck up behind a tree to get closer to the bird who calmly walked by him (within two feet) to the other side of the yard.
