Adoption Tails: Supermodels

Only one has been adopted so far. I will add her sisters, in due time.

Naomi

Adoption Day
1 day: Her owner thinks she’s ok. She’s been to the litter box and has eaten some dry food last night and this afternoon. She hasn’t drunk much water and didn’t eat her wet food this morning. She’s under the bed as they expected. They will keep her name.
Naomi, 1 week
1 week: She's doing really well. She had a trip to the vet nurse yesterday to trim her nails and was really good! She wandered out of her room this morning and retreated back under the bed. She was fine to play late in the afternoon which is her normal playtime. She's eating very well and is very affectionate.
Naomi
1 month: She’s great. Very happy now running from one end of the apartment to the other! She is still not sitting on her owner’s lap and is a bit jumpy but she is very affectionate (even with others). She loves playtime, looking outside, and especially loves tickles.

Needs must

Some of our water spray bottles have run out of puff. I devised an alternative. Instead of spraying the cleaning paper with the spray bottle, dip it into a dish of water. Do not double dip. It works very well.  I will try to remember to buy some new water spray bottles.

Over the weekend there were adoptions: Sandy, Florence, Skittles, the last Coffee Kitten Mocha, two of Star's planet kittens and one of the supermodels Naomi. On the arrivals side we have KitKat who only eats wet food and has a sore eye.

KitKat
And, another white but medium haired, Pearl.

Our Daisy visited. She had been to the vet a day or two ago to have her anal glands attended to. She was sent home with a large, opaque, hard plastic collar which she hated. She couldn't walk in it. She removed it. Her person dropped by the vet to get another. Daisy took it off in the carrier. She came on to us (having phoned before) to get a cloth collar. We will see if it stays on. It certainly looked good.

The person who adopted Hera brought in the things that she doesn't like: food, covered litter tray, metal food dishes. She is very happy with her and has renamed her Poppy. I showed her around and she would have taken them all if she had room. Bowie pulled out all the stops, of course. He likes to be held like a baby.

Rhapsody has moved into kitten Sandy's stand alone. While Sandy and I had a tea break, she joined the conversation so we moved over to beside her and she came out to sit on our knees.

Mia is a passion pussy too.

But the amazing news is that Megsy has a clean bed, at long last.

Flu begone

I arrived around midday to a busy scene: there were new vollies being trained, lots of regular vollies and Geoff trying to get odd jobs done before having to leave, Helen came in to be trained in the new computer system. We will all have to learn how to log on when we come to do our shifts. . . . yet another password to remember!

The coffee shop kids had been in the play place since the day before. I sat with them to have my lunch. The tuxedo, Bean, was very keen to share my salami. The others had to be tempted with tiny fragments. But when it came time for chicken, 3 of the 4 jumped into their stand alone to get their share. I had to carry the last, reluctant tabby and white one in. Will have to learn their names.

Now Caramel can have a turn. She is staying an extra day or two because her people's travel plans have been delayed. That's no trouble for us as she is a sweetie.

Caramel
We are fully booked for the school holidays which start next Friday. And every condo is occupied. Baby was moved out of the big stand alone in incoming. Her flu is much better. She LOVES chicken so she will get the leftovers today. Bubbles and Cheena have been moved in to her big one because their condo in Boarding was a mess of splatters. One of them has an ear that needs to be "drained".

Dymano is looking better but definitely not dynamic.

Dynamo

Diesel accepted seconds of chicken (Joy's instructions) without a sneeze. And Oreo, below him, is a girl. Our previous Oreos have been boys. Perhaps Orio for a girl. Or Oriette, Orea, Oray. . the possibilities are endless. One of the vollies spent so much time with her at the end of her shift that I was tempted to check her bag as she left!

Oreo-f

Suzie is looking much better too. So this has been a mild, albeit highly contagious strain of cat flu.

Suzie
Even the supermodel kittens have got over it. And, because of the extra attention and medications, they are much more friendly. . . . . or was it the chicken?
Cindy, Kate, Naomi

And Helena upstairs is more wary because she has had more stuff put into her eyes.

Visited by poo bag fairies

I have a very sore throat (RAT negative) so I was delighted on this very cold morning to arrive at Safe to find the balcony empty of poo bags. Many thanks to the poo bag fairies who made my morning easier. Last week there were 26 bags to take down.

No adoptions today but a young woman arrived to check out our kittens. The family cat died a year and a half ago and the family feels ready to take on another. She was taken by Ebby (being our smallest kitten available) but has to share the decision with her mother and her sister. She will be back when they get home from holidays. Some folk take a long time to get over a cat.

Ebby
On the other hand, an older woman rang to ask if we have any kittens. Her cat died of liver failure aged 17 two weeks ago and she is bereft without a cat in the apartment. She will come on the weekend when her "boys" can drive her. They can also show her our web site as she doesn't do computers.

The Supermodel litter (Cindy, Helena, etc) are getting a bit friendlier but do not like having stuff put in their eyes. Luckily only two need the uggy ointment. So the other two are getting more pats.

Kate, Naomi, Cindy and Helena

I made a couple of hammocks for the Cannin Condo. Star's kittens say that only one kitten fits at a time.

They are still sneezing although their ring worm lesions look better.

Wanda is off to be desexed tomorrow. (She is looking positively plump). Monica is off for the op as well.

Wanda
Last night Tim had to rush Adelaide to the vets because he was very sick. Didn't hear what happened. Sydney looked lonely.

Kitten clean

I handed out the usual chicken. The Palace lot are coming further out for chicken than before. Adelaide will come up to the upper level for hers. It is interesting that when all four of them were in one condo, Yang was usually upstairs while the other three hid downstairs. The four girls from Incoming are behaving in the same way with one tortie of Kate, Naomi, Helena and Cindy curled up by herself in the bed upstairs and the rest downstairs in the cat carrier.

Kate, Naomi, Helena or Cindy

Sootie was the star performer of the afternoon. She actually ate her chicken while I sat outside her condo with her door open. She then continued and ate all her breakfast wet food with me as an audience. GOOD GIRL.

Peach has been moved from Boarding to below Yang. She is not a happy cat. No chicken thank you.

Peach
There were only 2 D kittens (Dumpling and Dawn both girls). They liked their chicken and polished off their breakfast while I held their dishes for them. They are still full of flu. Dabi, the boy was off having an electrocardiogram because he has a slow heart rate.
Dumpling and Dawn (both girls)
Midsummer LOVED her very small serving of chicken.
Midsummer wants MORE
And Oreo, the boy of Sabrina's three desexed kittens (the other three were off being "done") cleaned the bowl for me.

Black and White and Tabby all over

On Wednesday afternoon a woman called at around 3pm to see if Ruby was still available. I said that we closed at four when she said that she would have to come from Watson's Bay to adopt her because she is exactly the cat for her and her husband. She came on Thursday morning to whisk Ruby off to a better life full of luxury. And the woman who came in with her deaf daughter to visit Pepper but fell in love with Blueberry to the extent that she broke into her holiday time to pay for Blueberry, came to pick her up. Blueberry was happy to go to a proper home, again. (They came from a foster home).

Blueberry

Her stand alone will be taken by somebody else, tomorrow. Amelia probably wonders if there will be more food for her in the changeover.

Amelia
The other Amelia is slowly coming around to like people. . . . especially those bearing treats.

Amelia

On the other side of the Merchandise shelves in the stand alone are three very scared kittens who are prone to poo when stressed. They soiled their hammock and it had to be thrown away. Better than being put in my washing machine! I hope the Greenies I gave them this afternoon don't have the same effect on their clean hammock.

D kittens squinting because I used the flash

My friend Joe came to visit Tabitha, again. He is sporting a bashed middle finger which hampered the strokes. But he stopped off to give Duke some loving . . . . so now has two cats in love with him.

Duke, everybody's friend
Out the back Princess or Precious is a major purrer. Her purr stops me in my tracks as I walk by. She likes finger strokes through the mesh. Lucy a new downstairs neighbour is still in her litter tray. And the mad girls from Incoming -- Kate, Naomi, Cindy and Helena, one of whom got my artery two weeks ago (it is all cured now and the bruise is almost gone, thankyou) have moved next to Lucy. Back to the Naughty Row!
