Adoptions picking up

The excellent news over the weekend is that there were adoptions:

Rhapsody. . . . no surprise there.

Beauty . . . . . you little beaut!

Sarah  . . .  hallelujah!!

Maggie has moved into Rhapsody's stand alone

Truffle is where Beauty was. I straightened out her hammocks and covered the nasty wire shelves and she was much happier. Robyn gave her some toys and she played.

And Star is where Sarah was. Out of Incoming at last. Her last kitten, Pluto, is still there though. She is in Syd's condo. He has gone to a foster home! Nancy is still with us.

And then a man come in looking for a pair of cats. Did he come to the right place! I showed him them all and he decided that he needed Princess and Precious because they are pet names at his place. I had a terrible time getting the computer to behave when adopting a pair of cats and buying miscellaneous mercandise. Poor Tim will have to sort it out tomorrow. But the buyer was very patient with my ineptitude. He was even more patient when Princess took off when I tried to put her into a carrier. She jumped off the back of my right hand with her back leg and took some of my skin with her. Of course, I dripped blood all over the place. Catsie had to use all her St John's skills to bandage me. Eventually we got her into a carrier. (Precious was no problem at all). The patient new owner happily took them both off.

I had a cuddle with Maggie.

Robyn had a cuddle with Ginger Megs.

Geoff came to measure the movable play place for a flip up top. I am told that Sootie had a lovely play in it over the weekend. Sammy and Cypher gave themselves a fright this afternoon and went back into their condo.

Lucky in love

I moved Lucky and Finn away from the front door to next to Beauty (separated by layers of duvet covers on both stand alone cages). I looked up who is whom. Finn is the white male and Lucky is the grey and white, medium haired female. The easy way to remember who is whom is "lucky in love" because Lucky loves to be loved on. Anybody will do. Neither of them recognised chicken as food which makes you wonder how they got to be a plump as they are.

Miranda Purr was adopted on Thursday. . . . such a good looking cat.

Miranda Purr

. . . and Schnitty was moved into her condo after I cleaned off her pawprints. He was a bit disgruntled at the move until offered chicken.

Sarah (the burrito cat) was waiting for her share when I got to her condo ("at last!"). She accepted some finger strokes as well as the chicken.

Sarah

But the one who surprised me was Tiger, her next door neighbour. For weeks she has turned her back on any approach but today she stepped up for a pat, scratch, fondle. I didn't go so far as to pull on the matted tags by her left ear. She drooled great drops of crystalline saliva at the joy of being fondled until. . . . she snarled, without provocation or any further action, to show me her huge, solo, canine. Cats are strange. I wonder what she will do next week.

Tiger

And Bibi, who hid under her blankie on Wednesday couldn't get enough cuddles today. She wasn't even interested in the chicken. Just more pats please.

Ceiling cat grounded

On Saturday a Good Samaritan was decanting an adult cat from a cat trap into a lower condo in Incoming. The cat took one look around and shot heavenwards. It climbed up the face of the condos and leaped at the light. . . which moved a bit so the cat could squeeze into the ceiling space. And there it stayed until today. Various ceiling tiles had been left open so that the cat could get to bowls of food left on the top of condos or wheely cages. I was told to check all food bowls and then under and behind everything just in case the cat had come down from the ceiling and not made it back up again. I couldn't find any trace of a loose cat.

In the afternoon Tim dropped by to check the trap that he had put in the ceiling space. There was the cat and an empty bowl. Tim said he went into Jasper's condo without a peep.

Perhaps all the excitement in the morning watching me crawl around peering under things is what drew Sarah out of her burrito wrapping. Isn't she pretty! Much to pretty to be wrapped up and spitting.
Sarah

There were 65 (counting ceiling cat) cats in residence this morning. That may have been the reason that I had 15 bags of rubbish to distribute among the bins along the street. There are three more this afternoon because one of our foster carers brought in her three "kittens". She has developed a gas leak in her apartment and has to vacate it for at least 3 days while they fix it. Poor Michelle has to go to the Sebel Townhouse! She insisted that I write a condo card to say that Lily, Luna and Inky are not for adoption. They belong to her. They are her babies and sleep on her bed. She will be back for them as soon as possible.

In the meantime, Ebony has gone to the foster home where Diego was. Diego was a bit much for his fosterers. He is in boarding row and has chewed the top off Doel's cardboard house.

There are some lovely surrenders. I may find out their stories later.

Flynn and Toby are identical except that one sleeps on the upper level where he is ready to smooch with anybody who opens his door.

And his ?brother sleeps under the bed that is big enough for two down below.

Beans is another lovely ginger where Blacky was.
Mr Bean
And Winnie is a loving tortie where Ganda was. (I had an aunt Winsome but I don't think that anybody ever called her Winnie).

PS Ceiling cat features on the website, https://icanhas.cheezburger.com/lolcats where folk send in funny photos of their cats and other folk add silly captions.

Looks like a shop

We have new shelves for merchandise. They look lovely when sparsely stocked. I took the rest of the items from on top of the condos where Billie was (no surprise that she was adopted on Monday at 10am!) As I dusted the top of those condos I was reminded of the cat who kept escaping from the condo he shared with his sister and retreating to the top of those condos. I cornered him there once and conned him into walking into a cat carrier. What was his name? I tried going back through the database but no names lept out at me. If I go back through this blog it will take hours. I moved all the cat beds there and they look more desirable now as a line of beds rather than a pile of beds.
Dolly and Mo were desexed yesterday. Dolly had one arm outside her collar when I arrived and she had spilt her water and rolled in the puddle so my shirt got wet when I picked her up to put her arm back where it belonged. Mo is her daughter (Why did I assume she was a boy? Was it the name? Could Mo be short for Maureen, Mouse, Monica? and not Moustache?) Mo wears her collar as a tutu. I think it will have to be cut off as she is such a skitty kitty (Mouse is a good name for her). I will take my good, sharp scissors with me on Friday. The scissors at Safe hardly cut paper).
Talking of changing names: Perhaps Sarah should be called Burrito. She wrapped herself tightly in her blanket and only came out at the end of the day. She was happy to be patted through the blankets.
Wilson has been moved to the play place because Harry and Harley were adopted on Saturday. (Well Done Terry). He is not a happy cat. When somebody goes to sit with him, he walks around growling and grumbling. I think he is telling us how unhappy he is to have been abandonned by his people. He loves pats and is very gentle. He even likes children. The bloke who works down the corridor and his daughter who lusts after a cat visited (again) this afternoon. I chucked her in with Wilson and he treated her just the same as the adults. . . . mutter, mutter, grumble, grumble, keep patting me, growl, complain . . . .
Last week Katie and I decided that Lasagne is a dreadful name for a cat and changed this ginger cat's name to Laurie on the assumption that he was a boy from a glimpse at his rear end.
But it turns out that s/he has some GI tract disease that will require 3 pills a day for a month, 2 pills for the next month and a pill a day for the last month. S/he will be with us for a while. Such a relief that s/he is such a nice cat.
