Adoption Tail's: Chai's spice litter

Nutmeg aka Mikey

1 day: The owners decided to change his name to Mike (Mikey). He is settling in really well! He has such a sweet nature, getting more curious and confident by the day. He is such a gutsy boy and eats all his food immediately. Mikey is using the litter and the owners don't plan on switching litter type as he is used to it.

1 week: Mikey's going really well! Much more confident and cheeky now that he is settled. The owner's camera roll is now just full of photos of Mikey!
1 month: Mikey is doing really well - just got his last vaccination last week and he has grown so much! The owners love Mike and his sweet personality. "Thanks for your work in helping rehome him."

Chilli

1 day: Chilli has successfully used the litter box. Her owner loves her name so they’ll be keeping it. “She was crying last night but she ended up snuggling with me in the bed. I’m so in love with her and she is the sweetest cat ever.”

1 week: “She’s so happy and I love her so much”

1 month: “Everything is fine she is very healthy playful and happy! I love her “

Cinnamon (aka Dash) - adopted with Scorpio (aka Ditto) from Virgo's litter - no photos

1 day: They are doing fine in their safe room. They are eating, drinking and using the litter tray. They will be renaming them but aren’t 100% sure about their names yet. “They are so cute”

1 week: “We are doing well with the kittens.” They had a few issues getting used to each other but their owners are sure they can overcome them. The kids have given them new names. Scorpio is now Ditto and Cinnamon is now Dash. “We let them come out of their safe room last night and they had a great time together playing in the house.”

1 month: “They are awesome! We are super happy.”

Adophion Tails: Josie's kittens and Rubia & Ryan

 Josh aka Remi

2 days: Josh is settling in very well. He is already curious and exploring around the house. He is eating well, drinking well, and using the litter tray regularly. He has a safe spot in their daughter’s bedroom and likes to stay in there when they are not home. He is a very playful kitten and is always purring and running around. His owners are considering renaming him Remi which they think suits him very well.

1.5 weeks: Remi’s doing well! He no longer hides under their bed and is always playing with his toys. He has been more confident and plays in every room in the house.

1 month: “Remi’s grown a lot since we first saw him”. He’s getting much happier with his new family than he was in the beginning. He’s still eating well too.

Jake aka Jack

1 day: no response

1 week: no response

18 days: “Jack is very comfortable here” and brought his family good happiness.

1 month: “Everything goes well. Very busy and very funny with the new family member.”

Rubia aka Maple

1 day: She is settling in really well. She only hid under her owner’s bed for an hour. After she popped out, she became immediately affectionate with her owner. “I was really surprised with how fast she opened up to me. I still think she is taking in her surroundings and getting used to things, but I’m really excited to see how she progresses.” She has been eating all of her food and drinking. She has used her litter box a few times to pee but has not gone poo yet.

4 days: She seems to be sneezing a lot and her owner noticed her eye is red and swollen after coming back from work. Her owner has settled on renaming her Maple.

5 days: Her eye seems better so she must’ve had something stuck in it. She is still sneezing fairly frequently with a lot of clear discharge. She also seems less energetic.

2 weeks: no response

1 month: Maple is doing very well and she has settled in comfortably. She loves to sit on top of me in the mornings and stare at me until I wake up.” Every day, she brings all of her toys downstairs while her owner is at work, and in the evenings, she brings them all back up to her owner’s bed one by one. Her owner thinks she has learnt she gets a piece of kibble every time. “She seems to be very motivated by food, even when I’m eating and cooking she gets very curious.”

Ryan aka Prince - no photos
3 days: He is “eating like a horse” and is using the litter tray. He is generally enjoying the house and has bonded with his owner’s daughter. He has been renamed Prince.

1 week: no response

1 month: Prince is going well. He is very playful and eats well. He loves playing and his favourite toy is a ping-pong ball. “I am a mere provider of meals to him at the moment (I’ve always been around cats, but for some reason Prince just ignores me) but he loves my daughter and wife. He sleeps on my daughter’s lap.”

Adoption Tails: Virgo's star sign litter and the Spices litter

 Taurus

1 day: He’s going really well, all is good.

1 week: He’s going very well. Such a friendly kitten.

1 month: He's going great, such a good addition to the family.

Aries

Aries has settled in very well indeed! So much so that we have started to introduce him to the rest of the house. The family got him a second litter tray that is larger and will become his main one as he grows as well as some extra bowls for food and water. Aries also has a cute perch/scratching station/cubby. He's fully set up for both sides of the house but is returned to his safe room during night time and unsupervised time during the day.

The family was going to give him a different name but Aries has stuck now. Aries will drag the cat toy fishing around and drop it at the owner's feet to let them know he wants to play. They can't believe how easy and smooth the transition has been. "It's like he's been part of our family and just came home after a long time away!"

Libra

No response

Gemini (aka Pesto)

5 days: “Gemini, renamed Pesto, is adjusting very well to his new life.” He has been eating and drinking well. He has started to explore other rooms of the apartment and is now more confident. “He sleeps with us and is very chatty.”

1 month: “Pesto is very happy and spends a lot of time with us and enjoying his new toys.” He had a rash inside his ear and decided to take him to the vet as they couldn’t reach SAFE. They did his booster vaccination at the same time. He seemed to react to a treat they gave him, as it disappeared once he did not get the treat.

Pisces(aka Rocket)

1 week: “We love him and he’s settling in very well with us!” He has been renamed Rocket and is doing great. “We had him separated for a few days but he was very keen to explore and he’s become best friends with our 4 year old cat. They’ve been sleeping next to each other during the day and playing a lot. He’s using his litter and eating and drinking water regularly.” They are keeping them apart at night and when they’re unsupervised but they don’t feel it’s necessary for much longer as they’re very relaxed around each other and play well.

1 month: “He’s doing very well and grown a fair bit. He’s getting along very well with our resident cat and they are having cuddles and licking each other so I couldn’t be happier with their bond”

Scorpio (aka Ditto), adopted with Cinnamon (aka Dash) from Chai's litter - no photos

Paprika & Pepper

1 day: They are settling in fine. Eating, drinking and using the litter tray.

1 week: They are doing well. The two have started to spend some time out of the safe room and even sit by the windows to watch the birdies outside
No 1 month response.

Chilli

1 day: Chilli had a good night and has a little to eat, used the litterbox last night and this morning but no poo yet. He had cuddles before bed. He is settling in well. The owners love the name!

1 week: He is delightful, no more safe room and sleeps on the owner's bed at night when he is not running around the unit. They are very happy with him.
1 month: Chilli is doing great, the owner tried to get a good photo of him in front of the fireplace last night but he wouldn't keep still.

A Touch of Terry

If I had a smidgen of Terry's magic I would have adopted out 5 cats this afternoon. First a young girl arrived with her mum. She has had health issues and is giving school a miss at the moment but likes to spend time with our cats. They were here earlier in the week. They will be back. (Terry would have sent them home with a kitten).

Here she is making friends with Garfield(a). Biggie Kahuna had a coneless wander earlier with an attendant so that he could scratch/groom the rest of his body but get shouted at if he scratched his chin. He kept the collar on for the rest of the day.

Big Kahuna
Garfield
Then a Uni student arrived with his mum. They have just moved into a house so have room for their first cat ever. They have had a dog. We looked at all the availables and nobody "spoke" to them so I told them to go away to think about it and see who else is on the for adoption list because there might be some in fosterhomes who would suit. Terry would have made them fall in love with Amelia, at least.

Amelia

While they were inspecting everybody a mother and daughter arrived to find a cat to replace their beloved 20 year old who died some time ago. They followed along and then went through them all again with me, falling in love with each condo occupant in turn. After their second go-round, the mother had decided that she really wanted a pair of cats (so we went around again) and the daughter decided she really wanted Garfield or Jamie. I told them to have a think and come back tomorrow when Terry can do his own magic.

I was going to get a good photo of everybody to have a backlog of photos but my time was taken up. I might need them because I am having surgery on Monday on a lump on the back of my hand that I thought was a ring worm. . . except that it didn't itch and kept growing. It will be removed and a bit of my skin moved to cover the wound. I won't be much use in the cattery for a couple of weeks, . . . or more.  But I am sure I will find something to blog about.

A one photo post

Again I didn't get my camera out this afternoon. And I don't have Joy's photos to fall back on because this is her "not on" week.

Just one by Catsie:

We were quite short of vollies today so Catsie did Incoming all by herself. And she noticed that Mickey went all gooey and smoochy when she gave Louie a cuddle outside Mickey's condo. To prove that it wasn't Catsie that Mickey was trying to entice, I held Louie up to his window and Mickey was entranced.

We had trouble getting Louie to eat anything. Remember that he was under the weather last week. And he had nasty black bits in one of his ears. It turned out to be clotted blood from a wound there. And his other ear has a red spot. . . . goodness knows what! We tried kitten wet food, Mother and Baby wet food without success. Then Sue gave him some adult wet food and he scoffed it down.

There is only one kitten left in the enclosure next to Big Kahuna. She is named Garfield. She is obviously a she because she is a tortie. I added an -a to make her name Garfielda.

See that bandaid on my left hand. It is a skin cancer that I will have cut off next Monday. The surgeon is threatening a boxing glove sized bandage to stop me moving my hand so that the graft can knit properly. So I may not be at Safe for some time from Monday next. But the blog will continue because I get updates from folk with two hands (and I can type with one finger).

Adoption Tails: Mouse and Ussie

 Mouse, now Loki

1 day: He's going so well! He is using his litter tray perfectly, eating and drinking lots and running around/playing so confidently! He is currently asleep in the owner's lap while she is working from home. "He's everything we had hoped for and more!" His new name is Loki - aligned with his mischievous little manner (he's already found a game for himself where he knocks chess pieces around the house)!

3 days: Last night and this morning, Loki had some diarrhoea. The owners got him some new wet food so it is most likely that as the food was not transitioned. They will feed him his usual dry biscuits today to see if that will calm him down.

1 week: He is going so well! He is such a cuddly, intelligent boy! The owners have already taught him to sit and stay. "We thank our lucky stars for him everyday. Mouse watched "The Hobbit" with the owner's partner the other night and is currently cuddling.
1 month: He is going so well!
He is such a curious little kitten, fits into the family very well.

Ussie

Ussie was one of 3 kittens - Marnus, Ussie and Rain. They had parvo/panleukopenia and Ussie is the only kitten who survived.

1 day: no response

1 week: She still hides behind the desk in the study. She eats, uses the litter tray, plays, and explores everything in her safe room. She has been renamed Mischkah. Her owners say that all is good and “she will be fine”

1 month: “She is doing well.” She’s having lots of fun when her owners are asleep but she’s also coming to them. Her owners say “It's a big house and she knows her safe place.” They will be moving her litter box and food to the laundry room, which she already comes into to help her owner dish up her dinner. They will still leave her basket in the study which is her safe room. “She is sussing out and knows places to run to.........so do we!”
