RIP 13 year old computer

My computer died this morning. I have been babying it along for the past 8 months by deleting everything that wasn't essential. Tomorrow I will try to set up the computer I bought at the Chatswood Mac store. It will undoubtedly be another steep learning curve.

In the meantime, I will blog from my laptop as I do while travelling. It has been so long since I travelled that I have almost forgotten how I did it. So, please excuse my mistakes.

Wanda was sent to us because she "rejected her kittens". Last night Wanda had several kittens, some of whom died. So the kittens that she "rejected" were not her own kittens! Today, she has accepted three of the original kittens who survived and her one, ginger survivor. Wanda looks as though she had a very hard time getting a too tight collar off. Despite this difficult time, she is a sweetie.

She might just go back to foster now.

Tim is away next week  so is trying to move cats around to be available for adoption. Storm and Goldie  have moved to Gracie's condo in the main room. They love chicken.

Storm on left, Goldie on right
Terry will probably get them adopted! I assembled more cat carriers this afternoon, just in case.

Sunny and Lunar would go in a flash if only our vet was back from holidays and they could get their health check.

Which is the sun and which the moon?

Gracie to foster

 Irene tells me that
Michelle, the carer of Diego and then Ebony has now taken in Gracie to see what she will be like in a home environment. She went on a short hunger strike but after 3 days she has decided to eat and also go to the toilet.

Gracie has gone

But where has she gone to? Foster? She is not on the adopted list. Her condo is clean.

We have new cats including Lucy and Sid. Robyn tells me that those names have a literary connection. They are both very shy gingers.

Lucy

Felix has gone to foster with Irene. His condo is occupied by Wanda who "rejected" her kittens who have gone to live with Jayde and Jasmyn's family. Wanda looks as though she has been throttled by a too tight collar.

Wanda
Ziggy and Stella have been moved out of incoming into the main room. Ziggy is getting used to it but Stella is in shock.

There are two delightful kittens, Lunar and Sunny in Trixie's old condo. When I arrived they had managed to throw water all over their condo. Even their bed box was wet. They were wet. It was a good way to get to know them for loving, friendly kittens.

Lunar and Sunny

I had  lunch in the play place with Peach's berry kittens. Don't know which is which. They are not microchipped. One is listed as black and white and the other is white and black. I noticed that one has white under its chin and the other has black under its chin. They both are very black under their tails so I couldn't tell their gender. The very end tip of the tail of the one with black under the chin dangles. This is the friendlier kitten.

Frankie is fine

Frankie the boarder whose owner was worried that he doesn't eat enough, seems perfectly normal after a couple of days at our health spa. He is in the play place and ran around between snacks all day until he flaked out on the high window shelf.

Frankie

He will be taken home tomorrow. He and Mayka played peek-a-boo this afternoon because I pulled back her modesty sheet.

Mayka
Mayka let me pat her for chicken.

Trixie has been moved out back. She is just so charming that everybody who sees her, wants her. But she still has health issues that we need to clear up. She is where Ashleigh used to be. Below Lucky.

Trixie
Next to Lucky is Taylor who looks much better than she did when she arrived. But the fur on her back is in a terrible state. Her bed has a dangling thing that attracts the surplus hair from her face. I think it is a mouse but it is covered with her hair.

Taylor

There have been enquiries for Ebony. One from a family with a small poodle who is afraid of cats. Another from a couple with a garden flat with lots of spare rooms. First come, first served. In the meantime, she has been ousted from her comfy bed by the toy tiger.

Calm Amy

She sat on her upper level all day and didn't snarl or hiss a bit, even when her doors were opened and tempting arms were inserted. All because her last kitten Annie was taken off to the vet very early this morning (before even I got there). It must be the kittens that turn her into a frantic cat. Unfortunately, Annie had blood in her poo at the vet's today so wasn't desexed. It will be interesting to see if Amy reverts to her crazy mode or not. Meredith also went to be desexed. Her mum, the other Amelia, is still frightened and hissy. Perhaps having a drugged daughter will calm her down.

Cookie and the last of her girl kittens were desexed today. Cookie was zonked when she got back. Bianca was more normal. I held her food bowl so that she could eat inside the oversized plastic collar. There is one left to be desexed: Raja.

Robin said that somebody who knows rabbits says that they should have somewhere to hide, to simulate a burrow, perhaps. So I found a box and cut just one opening. She spent some time in there digging, unsuccessfully, on the cardboard. Of course, she jumped out when I took a photo.

We have a Frankie "boarder" . Not the Frankie that we adopted recently. His owner is distressed because he "won't eat". She has a resident cat with gastric sensitivities on a special diet. She might not be able to cope with another problem eater. He is such a pretty kitty that everybody was happy to spend time with him to encourage him to eat. Catsie was so successful at playing the "chase the crunchie and munch it" game that Franky spent all afternoon sound asleep (with a full tummy). I had to wake him up for dinner. He was happy to lick wet food from my fingers but wasn't really hungry.
Frankie
A woman called to ask if we had any older, medium haired cats. She and her husband lost their Ragdoll, Fluffybum, last year and need another cat to enliven their lives. If only the vets who help us had enough staff, were not on annual holidays, were not overwhelmed. . . .  we could get Augustus and Darcee vet checked and ready to be adopted.

Another Darcy

Except this one is spelled Darcee. Does this mean that it is a girl? No, according to the database he is a boy. He is also a shaved Ragdoll.

Darcee
And he also came from Mona Vale Vets just like Augustus did. Evidently Augustus was dumped on their doorstep tick paralysed. He didn't have a microchip so they just guessed at his age. They both could go to foster homes and be immediate foster fails they are so friendly.

Linda brought in Smoochie and her kittens. We are to keep Smoochie who has a similar tummy upset to Jacky. Perhaps they could share a condo and bitch about how having a litter of kittens messes with your guts.

Smoochie
Her three kittens were microchipped and vaccinated and taken home by Linda who already has homes for them. This makes 7 kittens that she has found homes for after fostering them. She also used to foster rabbits and says that bunnies like dark green greens like kale, watercress, bok choy leafy bits, etc. And if they don't poo they need to be given pineapple juice. It seems that if rabbits are not regular they quickly become ex-rabbits.

Shortly after 3 there were two phone calls about Amelia's kittens. I said "first come, first choice". Two parties arrived almost simultaneously. An elderly gent had his heart set on Aurora. She was a gift from the "Computers for Old Folks" group that he has run for years. He is a very experienced cat owner with a 3 bedroom flat full of cat trees and toys.

The second party was a pair of young women who fancied Kiwi. Tim dealt with them while I did the oldies. And now Amelia has a stand alone all to herself.

Diego is on the to be adopted list. Somebody must have told him to look cool.

Diego
I don't know why Nipper isn't on the list. If I don't pat him when I go to his condo he reaches out for my hand in a gesture that could be mistaken for a swipe but he doesn't mean it that way.
Nipper
And last thing in the day, Tammy shows herself. I suspect she wants a smooch from Tim.

Adoption Tails: Just adopted

Figgie at play

We had a busy weekend with adoptions last weekend. Figgie and Darcy when home together and did not take long to settle in. (Notice his paw stretched out to touch the boy's arm)

We heard about Finn, 789 who was adopted  on Dec 12
Day 6: Finn is acting like he has been with his new family for years. He is so loved and makes them happy every day.
1 month: They are having trouble registering him as their council is closed due to covid. Her new owner has told her friends about SAFE & says she will drop by to donate food or something. Sue pointed out that for us it is best for us and easiest for her to donate money so we could buy the type of food we need. She sent photos:

Finn

Today I took the paperwork across the bay to Laurie/Lasagne's foster home so that they could claim him forever. Remember when he was surrendered to us how unhappy he was with this inflamed GI tract? Now, after expensive treatment, he is calm, friendly, playful, inquisitive, loving. I think he was pleased to see me.

Laurie/Lasagne
I picked him up and gave him a big hug from all of us.
