Double bunnies

 Coco and her original friend Lily (they didn't get along together) were desexed yesterday. Today they were both decidedly seedy. Lily hid in her green igloo and Coco sulked in her litter tray. When I arrived Lily's rabbit run was on top of Coco's. So that I couldn't open Coco's flap to clean her and give her new food (which she wasn't interested in anyway). So I moved the couch out of the vestibule to the hallway outside and positioned Lily in her rabbit run there. Not one of the vollies noticed that the couch was outside and the there was a different rabbit in the vestibule.

They were all too excited to be coming to work at Safe Haven, of course.

Especially excited as we have a pair of 9-10 year old Persians, Gigi and Bambi who are very close. They are super friendly and love to be brushed even though they don't look as though they have had much attention recently.

Augustus and Darcee are looking much better. The vets who treated them asked after Augustus. 

A couple arrived early (around 11am) to ask to adopt a kitten that I thought would be suitable for their family (!) We chose Lunar because 1. She looked like the first cat that he had and 2. because Annie was a bit off colour this morning. All adoptions should be so easy. I said as they left that if they found that one kitten was not enough for their 2 kids, they should come back and get Sunny tomorrow. They might.

Mia in Incoming has been reunited with her Tommy out back. He is pleased. He gets twice the food and all the cuddles this way because she holds back. Their kittens had a wonderful time without Mia. There was mess all over their condo twice this morning. But Rod eventually sorted them out.

Violet had 5 babies on Sunday. I looked up my colour book and found the following names:

Joy found more purple names: 

Ones I don't like as they are not purple enough: Sapphire, Iris, Topaz, Bluebell.

Ones' I do like: Lilac, Lavender, Amethyst, Roxo (Portuguese for purple. Confirmed by my husband who was born in Portugal and lived there until a teenager. He pronounces it Rocho which is a splendid name for a hyperactive kitten), Viola or Violeta.

This is an excellent example of why it is best to have just one person naming kittens.

RIP 13 year old computer

 My computer died this morning. I have been babying it along for the past 8 months by deleting everything that wasn't essential. Tomorrow I will try to set up the computer I bought at the Chatswood Mac store. It will undoubtedly be another steep learning curve.

In the meantime, I will blog from my laptop as I do while travelling. It has been so long since I travelled that I have almost forgotten how I did it. So, please excuse my mistakes.

Wanda was sent to us because she "rejected her kittens". Last night Wanda had several kittens, some of whom died. So the kittens that she "rejected" were not her own kittens! Today, she has accepted three of the original kittens who survived and her one, ginger survivor. Wanda looks as though she had a very hard time getting a too tight collar off. Despite this difficult time, she is a sweetie.

She might just go back to foster now.

Tim is away next week  so is trying to move cats around to be available for adoption. Storm and Goldie  have moved to Gracie's condo in the main room. They love chicken.

Terry will probably get them adopted! I assembled more cat carriers this afternoon, just in case. 

Sunny and Lunar would go in a flash if only our vet was back from holidays and they could get their health check.

But where has she gone to? Foster? She is not on the adopted list. Her condo is clean. 

We have new cats including Lucy and Sid. Robyn tells me that those names have a literary connection. They are both very shy gingers.

Felix has gone to foster with Irene. His condo is occupied by Wanda who "rejected" her kittens who have gone to live with Jayde and Jasmyn's family. Wanda looks as though she has been throttled by a too tight collar.

Ziggy and Stella have been moved out of incoming into the main room. Ziggy is getting used to it but Stella is in shock.

There are two delightful kittens, Lunar and Sunny in Trixie's old condo. When I arrived they had managed to throw water all over their condo. Even their bed box was wet. They were wet. It was a good way to get to know them for loving, friendly kittens.

 I had  lunch in the play place with Peach's berry kittens. Don't know which is which. They are not microchipped. One is listed as black and white and the other is white and black. I noticed that one has white under its chin and the other has black under its chin. They both are very black under their tails so I couldn't tell their gender. The very end tip of the tail of the one with black under the chin dangles. This is the friendlier kitten.

A little birdie told me. . . .. . Rod saved the day

Last week I took two bags of dirty washing home. An occasional chirp came from a bag which was easy enough to ignore. On the way back to Safe Haven today with two bags of washed sheets, hammocks, towels, toys. . . .the same bird chirped happily all the way. It would not be quiet. It was so happy to be going home. Sandy unpacked the bag of cleans and immediately commented on the chirp. She gave it to Star's kittens in the play place and it chirped happily for as long as they were in there. A happy bird. Later, Sandy went to do the washing and found the the plug/strainer wouldn't hold the water in the sink. She couldn't fix it, I couldn't fix it, Rod couldn't fix it so he went to Bunnings while Sandy, herocially, washed up in the small sink. The bloke at Bunnings said that the washer was on upside down! Imagine designing a washer that has a right side! Must have been a plumber that thought that one up. So we now have two spare washers in the tool box and the old one is working in the sink. Thank you Rod. The three grey kittens of Mini who were desexed last week all have been adopted since then. The one that I couldn't catch, Myra, was desexed yesterday. This afternoon she would have been adopted by a young couple who missed out on the other grey kittens. They WANT her but will have to wait until she is cleared for adoption. Lunar's kittens were also desexed yesterday. Another young couple came to check out a suitable cat to go with their small dog to replace a rescue cat who died a couple of months ago. Eventually, they decided that Belle, without Mia, would be perfect. More decisions for Tim to sort out as neither are available at the moment. Rosie really liked them. But she is not on the available list either.

We have new kittens: Three from Clare who are not necessarily from the same litter.

The three who had been fostered by Bronwen are settling down:
