Tummy Time

Calvin likes a hammock all to himself.

Vivienne does too
But their next door neighbours like to cuddle three at a time in a hammock. I can't tell if the same one gets left out each time. They all look like tortie tabbies to me even though their names are Clementine, Cornelius, Claudius and Cordelia.
3 C's in a hammock plus 1
Joni's kitten Taylor got adopted. I don't think she is too sad about that. She sits at the front of the condo now and doesn't hiss.
Joni
And Thelma and Louise are out of hiding.

Thelma/Louise

There is a new Billy where Chi Chi was. That lady did come from the Blue Mountains to collect her.

Billy
Ruby and her kittens are still in the play place. They make a mad dash for the door any time you open it. So I stuck a ball on a rotating toy whose feather has been chewed off and they were distracted long enough for me to collect all those dishes.

News of Rebel in foster with Mariko. They are doing well. He is just a tad spoiled.

We continue to be in parvo-ville. Restrictions will continue for another week.

Dumped

Firstly, news of Cleo. She seems to be doing well.

Secondly, we have our New Year lucky black cat, Johnny. Don't know if Johnny is a boy or a girl. S/he was delivered yesterday by some people who said that they didn't want her and then left! S/he, of course, is shattered. I just hope that this is not the start of a trend. Or we will have to frisk folk at the door for hidden cats to smuggle in.

Johnny
Joni is getting used to her new digs. She came out of her cat carrier when there was a visitor this afternoon and almost smiled.

Joni and Taylor's tail
The visitor wants a cat to fill her empty nest as her two teenaged sons are off to ANU soon. She has a 14 year old King Charles spaniel who is a sook. She wants an older cat. I tried not to push Ginger George too hard at her but he did behave beautifully flopping at her feet. But she also liked Libby (what is not to like when she is awake). She will be back tomorrow with her strong minded friend who owns a carrier.
He needs to loose the Cattitude sign.

A neighbour couple came to visit. The man was very comfortable with cats. He picked up Ginger George and rolled him onto his back. I wouldn't be so bold. But no blood was spilled.

Dexter is boarding. Remember how miserable he looked when he first came to us. . . . all mangey. Then he was grumpy and bored in his stand alone. He is quite charming now.

Dexter

Jasmine and her kittens are still in the play place. The kittens seem to have got over the STARVING stage so she is not so desperate for food either. Makes it easy for the vollies to go in to play with them.

Jasmine
Piglet was hiding when Robyn took these photos on Wednesday.

PS: Apropos the title: Jolene, I am told, doesn't like to use her litter box when there are people around. She was looking very swollen in the tummy this afternoon. But should be slim by the morning.

The quiet before December

I hope we have a deluge of customers in December. Nobody got adopted over the weekend. But Taylor did die, unexpectedly. He has never looked a healthy cat but last week he happily played with his ping pong ball.

There are more kittens in Incoming. Guess what colour. . . . black and white of course. The mum (Toni, I think) hides and hisses in a carrier in crate but the 4 kittens happily rush out to greet you. I bundled them into a carry cage (on top of Margot's crate) to clean their crate which is under Margot's crate. Margot, incidentally is just over 1 Kg. And Midnight is 0.95 Kg: not far behind although considerably younger. There will be kittens in Xmas stockings.

Midnight

Joy took some lovely photos:

Demi and Winnie are getting friendlier and more photogenic.

Sydney is getting bold enough to come out in the morning to do his Diego imitation.

Kate and Helena are getting to be grown up supermodels.

And Phantom is still everybody's bestie.

Is there an elephant in the room?

Leo ate some chicken. He didn't eat much and he had ignored his breakfast. But I think he has enough storage to keep body and soul together until he gets whisked off to either foster or be adopted.

Leo
And Pluto ate her breakfast when I diluted it with chicken juice. Evidently the person who unadopted her is having second thoughts because they miss her purrs so much. I think we should record her purr and use it as background noise to seduce folk into adopting the nearest cat.

A couple came this afternoon to look at Yuki. And at everybody else. They like the idea of taking a difficult cat. Perhaps they will become fosterers as they already have two cats at home. All the cats liked them. They live on the other side of town but will be back.

Cocoa the sole remaining boarder has had his/her card changed to an our cat. Not happy Jan.

Cocoa
And Gia #2 has moved into the stand alone that Robyn scrubbed on Wednesday. She liked it much better in a foster home.
Gia #2
On the bright side: Mia is looking much calmer. She took chicken from my fingers.. . almost.
Mia
And Taylor looks almost clean. . . . .almost.
Taylor

Margot is almost heavy enough to be desexed. And Midnight is already 700gm at 5 weeks!

What happened to Linda's whiskers

I put Linda and Yoko into the play place today. I wanted to give them a good brush. It worked last week when I brushed Bubbles (but not Cheena). They got adopted over the weekend. So I am hopeful that the brush will work its magic on L & K. Sammy and Cypher were adopted over the weekend too without any help from me. On one side of her face, Linda has a crop of short whiskers. The other side's whiskers are long and graceful. What happened?

Short ones with a few long ones

We tried Kiki in the Top Cat. She finally figured out how to get down, after I leaned the stratchy pole against her condo but wasn't very happy. She was much happier this morning playing soccer with a ping pong ball while lying in her carrier.
Long way down Kiki
Mia was happy as long as she was being cuddled. There are plenty of volunteers for that job. Mia is where Pluto was. Pluto has been adopted.

Mia with Sandy

Taylor also played soccer with his ping pong ball but he was bouncing about behind his igloo. I've never seen him so active in all the time he has been with us.

Taylor
Wanda has got over her horrors at being back in the institution and is the sweet mum cat who adopted two stray kittens along with her own and then had Midsummer added to the litter later.
Wanda
Lobster was adopted today to a family who missed out on Duke. They will probably change his name to Charles. He will come back as a boarder to delight his fans at Safe Haven.

An Adoption at last

Eric and Lucy have been adopted, together. But they are still with us as boarders. They will be picked up next Friday.

Lucy (on left) and Eric

I think the only way their owners will be able to tell them apart is her short tail. (A dog attacked her and part of it had to be amputated. She does not like dogs.) Duke has moved into their condo and is available  but the world doesn't know because the computer system keeps loosing the cat profiles that are "uploaded" to the adoption page. He will sell himself to anybody who comes in, of course.

I moved Sammy, Cyber, Thumbelina and Bambi back to their own condos and gave the play place a good scrub. We have boarders who have paid extra to get play place time.

empty play place
The tall scratchy pole that the play place was build around is a danger to cat and volunteer. Jeff will try to salvage what he can from it.  The Top Cat structure that he has almost finished was enjoyed by Princess and Precious this afternoon. It still needs a secure top.
Lisa is back with us. Her new owner had a stroke and is in hospital for a week or so. She wants to keep Lisa but her brother, who came from Adelaide to help her, can't cope with the cat. So we will keep Lisa for at least a week. I carried Maggie around to say hello to her mother.  She growled when Lisa jumped down from her high perch.

Lisa

But Lisa doesn't have to put up with Mia's tantrums from the condo below her. Mia has been moved to Max and Gus's condo because they have gone to a foster home! Taylor will have to put up with Mia instead.

Ginger Joy

Well, the nice older man did come to adopt Ruby. She was out waiting for him on Thursday as well as on Wednesday. I hope they will be very happy together.

Ruby
Archie has moved into her condo from Boarding. He is still a bit shy.

Archie

Whereas George, who is beside Max, is not shy at all. He is a super loving cat so won't last long once his scrotum has shrunk. It must have felt as though he was sitting on a marble today but it didn't seem to worry him. Those long lasting pain killers work really well or the thought of chicken erased any pain.

George, sitting carefully

Ginger, below Casper, has been sent to Incoming for quarantine.

The D kittens may not last the weekend. I figured out who was who: Dabi has the most golden face, Dumpling has straight lines on her forehead and a clouded area in her left eye and Dawn has squiggly lines on her forehead.

Dawn
At chicken time I got to pat Rosie, Magic's calico who lives with her sister Callie who is white and fluffy and does not want to be touched, thank you! And Jackson has moved downstairs again since I gave him a blanket there to lie on.
Taylor
Casper is looking a bit more relaxed too. . . . . about time!

Casper
But Sydney and Adelaide. . . . not so much.

Violet explosion imminent

 A picture tells the story.

Violet's tummy

How many kittens are in that tummy? We should find out tonight or tomorrow.

Blueberry and Blackberry made a very brief appearance on the "To be Adopted" page but Blueberry sneezed, Tim looked into her squinty eyes and took them both off the list. They had been moved into Max's stand alone.

Black and Blueberries

Mum Peach was left alone. . . . at last. Is she grieving or is she coming down with the flu too?

Peach
Over on Naughty Row, Taylor is looking much better.
Taylor
And Lucky looked at me and thought "chicken". . . honestly. I could read her body language. The cats know what day of the week it is.
Goldie is going to be the only kitten available this weekend. She is much friendlier since Stormy was adopted.

Goldie

(PS. I had lunch with Max again. This time I sat on the chair. He stropped my legs then jumped onto the grey stratchy pole so that he could walk onto my lap. He visited for a bit and then retired to his shelf. He is a cool cat and is training me to treat him the way he wants to be treated.
