August: one per day

Really, one adoption for each day of August. 31 in total. Some days there were more than one. Other days there were none. But on average, one per day is fabulous.

Today's adoption was Raven. A man came in and wanted him. So Kath did the deed. Poor Rogue will have to come out of his shell now that he is alone in it.

A woman came in to try to decide which cat she wanted. She loved Peaches who was in a "I need cuddles" mood today. Her Biscuit didn't get back from the vet until after 5pm. She might not be in such a smoochy mood tomorrow. She still has wet patches on her flanks but the hair is growing back on the spots that she used to lick relentlessly.

Peaches
This lady also liked Turtle and Fox who are in the stand alone beside Autumn and Pishi. They were in a riotous mood while she was there. So seemed a bit too much for her.

Even Pishi was too lively for this older lady.

I took Persephone for a walk. She had a lovely time launching herself up the stairs, over the desk, up to the window, and back again.

Bath time

Cotton went to Collaroy Vet to be shaved this morning. Missed his breakfast.

Added to that insult, he had to have a bath when he got home.

"You are going to do what?!"

"Not only wet but soapy all over"

"Why put the soap on if you are just going to hose it off!"

"Now you are wiping off all the water!"

He was moved into Gracie's stand alone that I moved to be beside Monty's. The fluffy cats (real and potential) will be all adjacent until Monty gets picked up on Sunday. Cotton might have recovered from his Friday from Hell by then.

Persephone enjoyed a couple of walks. She doesn't like other cats but does like people cuddles and chasing a long wand.

 Thanks for the photos Robyn.

And Toby came to my end of his couch for a pat last night. This morning he enjoyed his view.

Amazing weekend

8 adoptions over the weekend including the F kittens (Frankie and Floyd), Panda, Bubble and Squeek, Suzie and Sirocco.

And today Peaches and her son Biscuit were washed to exclude all traces of ring worm. They have moved to next to Maxi. And Lolli and Gracie were washed as well and moved to Panda's stand alone. There are now only two kittens in Isolation. Let's hope they will be the last there for months.

Geoff came and cut holes in the single condos in the Transit Lounge. He installed the unscrewable doors so that two condos can be made into one for larger families of kittens. We currenly have one group of six tiny kittens below Rosy.

And Persephone has been moved to Lola's small stand alone (which was most recently occupied by the F kittens). Geoff investigated the latch that they (the F's) managed to open last week. His simple solution is to use one of the clips that came on toys given to us by Mariko several Christmases ago. I have used them for hammocks for enclosures as well. I took a photo of one in action with the Safe phone but couldn't send it to myself. My own phone was at home, of course and my camera has died). Perhaps Irene can upload it here or on Facebook.

Prue and Trude were going to come back but their fosterers couldn't get them into cat carriers. They will try again. They have been gone for a long time.

A mum and son came in to find a kitten to go with their young cat who is driving their old cat crazy. They loved Maxi. And will probably be back.

An elderly lady came in to get a cat because her dog is missing their previous cat so much. She may return. She rather fancied Phoenix.

A family came in to find a friend for their big boy kitten. They liked almost everybody. But especially liked Maxi.

as good as New Brooms

Kiwi came back today. According to Irene: he was meowing all night and kept all the housemates awake. He is where Muffin was so can be the first cat that folk see when they come in (if they don't pass by the merch shelves that still look clean and neat!) Kiwi spent the day sleeping.

Kiwi
There was a goodly number of vollies. And more folk came in the afternoon to check us out before volunteering. (And or adopting/fostering a cat). For the first time that I can remember, the dust pans and brushes got washed! As well as the brooms!!

The brooms were sodden so I took them outside to the roof of my car to dry out. Later in the day, Tim couldn't find them when he moved the Rascal to Rayven enclosures to have installed an exhaust column that will suck the bad smells out of the "factory floor". Strange. I hadn't noticed any smell. But I sure can hear the machine humming.

Enzo's "kittens" went for their vet check. They were quite easy to get into carry cages but I don't think they enjoyed their day out from the look of them when they returned. All three hid under the scratchy pole shrouded blanket. Their names are Raven, Rouge and Riley. Enzo has gone to his forever home.

Persephone has been declared ring worm free. So is able to be "handled". Which means that she will crawl all over your shoulders given half a chance and suck/chew on your hair.

"Who me!" Percy

 Amelia took some photos.

Here is one of Bubble and Squeak mesmerized by a toy that was donated. It has to be charged by the same plug that charges the phone. I reorganised their enclosure so that they could have more floor space for it to perform in.

The F kittens are very relaxed. Saving their energy for the next time they get adopted.

And we have 7 kittens in one double condo in the Transit Lounge. Who knows if they all had the same mum. They need names!

Just some of the Secret 7

Shy ones appear

There was a happy crew of vollies today and after they left the cats were eager to interact.

Persephone was introduced to THE shoulder. She knew just what to do. (Must have seen my blog posts).

Later in the afternoon, she seriously napped to recover from the thrill of smelling Mayavan's hair.

Persephone
Tahlia, who arrived from the western suburbs on Wednesday turned on a show for Robin who visited this afternoon. Look at these whiskers! And an orange leg to display when she joy rolled. Not to mention the green eyes.

Tahlia

Later in the afternoon, I had a loving time with Nala! Up to now she has hidden and pointedly refused food. Today she jumped up to her ledge, licked the blankey and allowed me to pat her.

Her neighbour, Muffin has devised a new game. You poke your finger against the sheet covering her stand alone and she tries to pounce on your finger. It is an endless game.

On our website it says that she is tail-less. But she does have a very cute, short, pompom tail.

8 adoptions last week

Kath knows how to get to the computer page that tells us how many and who were adopted.

And one adoption today that Kath did in record time because the adopters were in our system. They adopted one of the Spice Girls, Cumin at Bunnings not so long ago. She has got to the stage that she needs a friend to play with so the people can relax. They thought they should get a boy just in case the two female cats had trouble deciding who was going to be boss. With a boy and a girl it is very straightforward. . . . . the girl will be boss.

So they chose Solano and went home to talk dad into it. Later in the day they were back with their carrier ready to take him home.

Solano
That left Siroleo all alone tonight. I put an igloo in his stand alone so that he had a warm place to snooze.

Siroleo

The excitement of the day, though, was that Lani washed Persephone while I held her (the kitten) down.

First she got her nails done.

"pink please"
Then into the tub. Her eyes were huge and black and she wheezed throughout.

Persephone

But after being dried with Lani's hair dryer and popped into the Transit Lounge with a pair of hotties, she was her usual bouncy self.

Kath took a photo of Gideon to record his progress. (He finished off Lola's breakfast while going for a walk around the office.)

Tim is back so his cats have gone home.
