Amazing weekend

8 adoptions over the weekend including the F kittens (Frankie and Floyd), Panda, Bubble and Squeek, Suzie and Sirocco.

And today Peaches and her son Biscuit were washed to exclude all traces of ring worm. They have moved to next to Maxi. And Lolli and Gracie were washed as well and moved to Panda's stand alone. There are now only two kittens in Isolation. Let's hope they will be the last there for months.

Geoff came and cut holes in the single condos in the Transit Lounge. He installed the unscrewable doors so that two condos can be made into one for larger families of kittens. We currenly have one group of six tiny kittens below Rosy.

And Persephone has been moved to Lola's small stand alone (which was most recently occupied by the F kittens). Geoff investigated the latch that they (the F's) managed to open last week. His simple solution is to use one of the clips that came on toys given to us by Mariko several Christmases ago. I have used them for hammocks for enclosures as well. I took a photo of one in action with the Safe phone but couldn't send it to myself. My own phone was at home, of course and my camera has died). Perhaps Irene can upload it here or on Facebook.

Prue and Trude were going to come back but their fosterers couldn't get them into cat carriers. They will try again. They have been gone for a long time.

A mum and son came in to find a kitten to go with their young cat who is driving their old cat crazy. They loved Maxi. And will probably be back.

An elderly lady came in to get a cat because her dog is missing their previous cat so much. She may return. She rather fancied Phoenix.

A family came in to find a friend for their big boy kitten. They liked almost everybody. But especially liked Maxi.

as good as New Brooms

Kiwi came back today. According to Irene: he was meowing all night and kept all the housemates awake. He is where Muffin was so can be the first cat that folk see when they come in (if they don't pass by the merch shelves that still look clean and neat!) Kiwi spent the day sleeping.

Kiwi
There was a goodly number of vollies. And more folk came in the afternoon to check us out before volunteering. (And or adopting/fostering a cat). For the first time that I can remember, the dust pans and brushes got washed! As well as the brooms!!

The brooms were sodden so I took them outside to the roof of my car to dry out. Later in the day, Tim couldn't find them when he moved the Rascal to Rayven enclosures to have installed an exhaust column that will suck the bad smells out of the "factory floor". Strange. I hadn't noticed any smell. But I sure can hear the machine humming.

Enzo's "kittens" went for their vet check. They were quite easy to get into carry cages but I don't think they enjoyed their day out from the look of them when they returned. All three hid under the scratchy pole shrouded blanket. Their names are Raven, Rouge and Riley. Enzo has gone to his forever home.

Persephone has been declared ring worm free. So is able to be "handled". Which means that she will crawl all over your shoulders given half a chance and suck/chew on your hair.

"Who me!" Percy

 Amelia took some photos.

Here is one of Bubble and Squeak mesmerized by a toy that was donated. It has to be charged by the same plug that charges the phone. I reorganised their enclosure so that they could have more floor space for it to perform in.

The F kittens are very relaxed. Saving their energy for the next time they get adopted.

And we have 7 kittens in one double condo in the Transit Lounge. Who knows if they all had the same mum. They need names!

Just some of the Secret 7

Comings and goings

Frankie and Floyd were returned after a short adoption. They were "too active".

Frankie and Floyd
Better luck next time kids.

It might be a race between them and Belle and Beau who are active kittens (except when they are resting.)

Beau and Belle

I have decided to let Toby explore the house tonight because I will have time tomorrow morning to find him if he has hidden himself somewhere. The visitors are well gone and last night he came to sit under my foot stool while I spent time with him in his room.

Toby

A mother and daughter who visited last Friday returned and decided on Tyrone. But when I got the paperwork out, it says "Tim to approve adoption". They are happy to come back tomorrow for him to approve.

Lola will approve.

Lola

And we have a new "breed" cat to replace Demi who has gone home to her owner. Kiwi's people rang this morning to ask how the cat was settling in!

Second time a sticker?

The perfect adopters came in for Eleanor this morning. They saw her on the website and decided she was for them. So she was adopted, again.

Later another couple came in with a blue eyed dachshund strapped to her chest. They looked at everyone but stopped dead when they came to Pickles. They'd seen him on the web too. And I think had decided before they came. Because of the dog-cat situation, I involved Irene and eventually she asked enough leading questions to confirm that they are suitable owners of a short dachshund and a shy kitten. So that adoption was successful. We have saved the original, white, standalone that Pishi and her kittens were in for Pishi when she recovers from having had 4 kittens. She is being feed up with constant crunchies and wet food three times a day. And is still skinny.

Later in the afternoon, when David had arrived and could look after feeds, etc, I was again assistant cat washer. This time it was Fay's kittens who had a medicated bath to make sure that the ring worm treatment was complete. They were easier to get wet than Bonny was and were just as wiggly. They are now in the Transit Lounge and have lost faith in human beings.

Frankie and Floyd
Their mum, Fay is still in Isolation but should be moved out sooner rather than later. (I think she is on heat from the conversations she was trying to start today.)

We got 5 kittens (biggish, I think) from a couple who were devastated at having to hand them over. They seem very shy. And there was much discussion about what their names should be.

Bonny came home from the vet. Didn't hear whether or not they detected any lesions but she won't be available for adoption until her stitches are out in about 10 days. So get your Bonnie cuddles in.

Continuous visitors and enquires

Before we had finished cleaning up a woman arrived to check out Floyd. But on further chat she indicated that she would prefer a pair. So after lots of cuddling she chose a boy and girl from the N kittens who got 50 kisses each a day from their fosterer. . . . . Nancy and Nigel will continue with their luxury lifestyle. Poor Nero is left behind to be handed to any visitor who wants to cuddle a kitten. By the end of the day even he had had enough cuddles. Then somebody came to see if we had any kittens. I showed her the availables and she chose the grey tabby. . . either Charles or Christopher who are not available. She will keep her eye on our website. Another woman came to check out Elona who was having none of this being looked at business. She stuck firmly to the inside of her igloo. In the meantime, Nero got cuddled, Luna performed beautifully, I got the history of her previous cat who was adopted from Ingleside AWL 8 years ago. The cat's name was Calico. . . we did have a few of those. . . . She was incompletely desexed so kept coming into heat. She was a stress eater because of problems before AWL days. So she developed diabetes. She didn't like to sit on her person's lap unless there was a cushion there ready for her. She was a much loved cat. This woman brought in her son because he is a good cat picker. He cuddled Nero. In the meantime, she enquired about the birth dates of all the available, and unavailable cats. She liked Octavia. And Lily. She will return. One of my jobs for the day was to find out the sex of each of Silky's kittens who now live in the play place. Silky is in glorious isolation below Windsor. She gets to eat all the food all by herself. I sat with her kittens and played with them. They were not enthusiastic.
Being their mother's children, the only time I could try to determine their sex was when they were lined up with their heads in their food bowls. I quickly lifted their tails and made a guess. . . boy, girl, boy, girl. Four little kittens were dropped off yesterday. They were lively this morning but by the afternoon they were not happy. Could be worms. Could be they miss their mum.
