Early mark

 Sharon trained a group of new vollies this morning. They did Better Row.

There were plenty of our regular vollies to do the rest. Only one border who came in today and a few empty condos. And in view of our possible move, condos are remaining empty. So far this month we have adopted 33 cats and kittens, according to Sue. Goosey was adopted over the weekend! 

Her condo is occupied by Elly who has been in the back corner of Isolation for months. She went to the vet. Is on meds. And is not eating. I hope Goosey's good vibes revive her.

I moved Marmalade and Cookie from Isolation to Incoming today. They will stay in C14 for a while to confirm that they don't have any ringworm lesions.

Valentina has been adopted too. And her stand alone is occupied by a pretty calico with a cloudy right eye also. She seems to be just as hungry as Valentina was.

It was strange that nobody adopted Harlow and Hobson. But it does make it easier for the cleaners not to have four kittens erupting from that condo.

That joy has been taken over by Ruby's kittens. It is a good way to get a cuddle. They got plenty today and had an afternoon nap to recover.

I got a very early mark because Sue had to attend an on line lecture at 6pm and she wouldn't have got home in time for that anyway. So Aslan got his dinner early for a Wednesday. Sue took Ravyn for a walk (or vice versa).

 She came because she couldn't come on Wednesday (car problems) and had a ADM to train. And a Tim to talk to. Good to see her even though she can't see us quite as well as before her op. It will improve. The trainee got to watch Sharon adopting Minette (in the stand alone beside the O's) to a girl and her mum. They were all entranced by those whiskers.

Salt/Pepper, the escapee, is still on the loose. 

Our Friday vollie (who slowly loved on Kitty until she was an acceptable adoptee ie she actually loved him so much she was prepared to like other humans including a stranger) has moved on to Dory. Goosey was easy-peasy for him. She now accepts pats from everybody. Dory is more of a challenge. He worked with small bits of the squeezy soft food on the floor and gradually Dory came forward to eat them. I noticed at dinner time that Dory was more relaxed. (?Full of squeezy food.) 

My camera is defunct. When I took photos with my phone it ran out of juice. But here is Nutmeg who was found talking to Lola earlier in the day. . .. in the front foyer.

More kittens on Better Row

 Mimi has been moved to where Wolfgang was (ie from Prue and Trude's enclosure). She is a very friendly cat but retires to her hidey hole when nobody is visiting. Open her door and she comes out. Her condo on Better Row is occupied by Ruby and her four kittens. Ruby looks like a kitten herself. (I did take some photo with my camera and was delighted that it decided to work. But when I try to download the photos. . . . no go. I will have to get some cluey vollie to teach me how to "airdrop" from my phone to my computer.)

The O kittens are just next door to Ruby. They are full of zest.

And at the very end (above Dinesh) is a cat called Peanut. She has come with a fancy bed with a red bobble toy . . . . and an attitude that says. . . I belong somewhere better than here.,  Won't take her long to fit into Better Row!

Gingin and Oreo have moved into the stand alone in Welfare where Crumpet and Marmalade were before moving into Isolation. (I think they rather like their larger stand alone there better).

This afternoon, Roxy started to make "Yoohoo" noises. To any available male. . . . 

I had wondered why she was not available. She must not have been desexed yet.

Her neighbours were not interested. The 2 remaining G boys didn't know what  she was talking about. And Bassuria as only ever had eyes for Julie.

 Where Penelope and Paulina were is a new kitten who is to be really friendly in his foster home. His name is Eric. He is so different to the P girls!

 He left yesterday with a delighted looking lady. He left enough hair on his hammock to make a kitten! I hope his new owner is not a wearer of black clothes.

Hazel was adopted. She and her person seem perfectly matched. 

It was a quiet afternoon, again, so I worked on PC's knots. This comb seem to be effective. It has a razor blade inside it but I don't use that side. His hair clumps are diminishing. Probably only 80% left now! He is not enjoying the process but doesn't complain with his claws.

The O kittens came back from being desexed. One has a clot on his sliced scrotum. Be gentle with him. They are Ophelia, Odysseus, Othello and Octavia. The ginger boys purr as soon as you look at them.

 Hoshi and Tsuki were moved from Incoming to Welfare this afternoon. David loves both of them even though only one of them loves to be cuddled. (The shy guy will come around to the feeders).

Last thing today I set up the stand alone in Isolation because Cookie and Marmalade have been confirmed ring worm positive. Earlier in the afternoon I spotted a vollie happily cuddling one of them in Welfare. I mentioned that the "under observation" sign meant that they shouldn't be cuddled. She put the kitten back into the condo and, at my suggestion, left (with her apron which she will wash.)

The fungus that causes ringworm in cats also infects humans. If you find you have an extremely itchy spot somewhere on your body, smother it with Vasoline. That forms an oily film that excludes oxygen from getting to the fungus and slows down its growth. Chemist sell Lamisil which is a cream that kills fungus (athlete's foot fungus, ringworm fungus, whatever fungus.)

 Everybody worked so well together that the work was done in record time. There were enough bodies to hold an H kitten each so their condo could be cleaned.

Later when a couple arrived looking for a kitten, the H's were looking spruce and were relaxed enough to enjoy strangers' cuddles. The couple will be back with small son tomorrow afternoon perhaps. On their way out Minette distracted them and purred like an engine in their arms.

The woman who chose Oreo came in to do the paperwork. She will pick him up on March 14 from his foster home. And Freya has been adopted. Don't know when she is to be picked up

Willow is back from the vets. She is on soft food only so must have had some teeth removed. I think she likes her new digs. It is quieter than being opposite the food desk and she can watch Marmalade and Cookie if she wants to be entertained. (They don't have any sign of the leg lesion that a vollie noticed a couple of weeks ago. But are still "under observation")

Bit Busy

 Sue was training three assistant day managers this afternoon. They got a real life adoption to do when a couple came in to do the paperwork for Gatsby. We could have adopted 5 Gatsby's this afternoon. But these folk had driven miles to pick him up and he is a perfect cat for them as their previous much loved cat was called Gatsby before they changed his name. 

The folk who fostered Gatsby brought him and stayed to watch and cuddle other kittens. They have one foster kitten left at home and will love having more. 

Earlier in the day a community cat rescuer brought in 2 black cats. She has done a very good job with them because they both look healthy and like pats even though they were overwhelmed. I called them Svart and Noir (the medium haired one at the back) both of which names mean black.

I moved Minnie out to the small stand alone which used to be Lola's. She was not impressed.

Dani's two larger kittens presented us with a vomit full of worms. I gave them a worming pill each crushed up in their food because they are not quite handlable. Don't know if they ate it all. I kept adding delicious other bits on top of the left overs that got nibbled. But the larger kitten may have been doing all the eating.

Dani's flu'ey four are on doxy. The necessary handling will do them good. But they are all gooey eyed with it. 

The smallest kitten of the beautiful pair of mums is being separated for meal times because her siblings/cousins eat everything. This afternoon I couldn't find her until I looked down and there she was sitting beside Mouse who was looking up, expecting another meal. Don't know how that happened. But she is back with her mums now. (One of whom was taken to the vet today.)

Another fosterer brought in Cookie and Marmalade. They are occupying the lobby stand alone. They will get adopted quickly.

2 days: “He is such a sweetheart”. He is currently lying with his owner. “He is very affectionate, licks my face, comes for a cuddle, but also very playful, straight from the first day on. He eats well, wet and dry food, and uses the litter tray.” They will be keeping his name.

1 day: He is doing so well and is so cute! The owner is obsessed with him. When they first let Sunny out in the room, he explored and hid under the bed for a few minutes before coming out and running around playing with his new toys. He is using the litter tray well and is drinking water throughout the day. He eats all of his wet food and especially loves the kibble. Sunny is super cuddly and loves to nap on the owner while purring heaps.

1 week: Sunny came back to SAFE for his kitten vaccination. He is doing so well! Playing lots and sleeping lots.

1 month: He's probably twice as big now compared to when he first came home!

2.5 weeks: “She’s really happy”. She has gotten “used to the house very easily and got along very well with his brothers there.”

2 days: “Spots is lovely” and is settling in well. “He is so cute”. He uses his scratching pole, is eating well, uses his litter box, and sleeps in his basket next to his owner’s bed. He gets played with 3-4 times a day and likes to chase his toys. “He seems really happy” and is always purring on his owner’s lap. He is not concerned when meeting new people and is starting to show his personality. 

 1 week: no response, only sent photos1 month: He is a cheeky boy sometimes but is also affectionate. “Loves a snuggle on the couch”

 

Movement at last

 After an adoption drought (despite the rainy weather), there have been adoptions and movements of cats.

Dexter got adopted by a man who "has experience with difficult cats". It has been 4 days which is 3 days longer than the last time he was adopted. So fingers crossed. 

And Betty has gone to a foster home. And Hermionie has gone to Katie's to live. And two of Honey's kittens have been adopted naturally including the super friendly Socks. Left are Luna, Scarlett, Patches and Panther. Honey is posted as 10 months old. What a heroine!

The Squee litter in Isolation has been moved out except for Pumpkin who is still there and being treated as infectious. Two have . . . ? been adopted. . .. disappeared. And two are in Dexter's condo. They are still dedicated to eating.

We have new cats on Better Row. Moet and Jerry were surrendered. I will try to find out why. They seem to be a lovely pair. Jerry is the ginger male who is friendly. Moet is the ginger and white girl who is wary. Or the other way around!

As are Theresa's big cats in the stand alone in Incoming. They are very food oriented. They loved it when they were getting 2 month old kitten rations.

Trude and Prue would like to go back to those good old days. But with patience, Sue is getting them used to being touched.

And for entertainment we have: Meatball, PC and Derek. Meatball is a comedian, PC is an opportunist, Derek is a fanatic (aka a kitten).

 And, the garbos came early! Must be a new crew because as well as being early, they were extra neat. But it means that the bins are already full of yesterday's bags and we will have to all take home a bag or the balcony will be overfilled by next week.

There were adoptions so we had condos to sterilize and cats to move.

Another Stones kitten, Mick, was adopted so only Jagger and Ronnie were left on the play place. They moved into where Rajah and Genie were as they were adopted separately over the weekend. Virgo and her 6 kittens moved into the play place. The kittens had a marvelous time running, jumping, climbing. They will sleep soundly tonight. Virgo found a nice corner to lie in and was quiet for the first time ever.

Marmalade and Duchess were also adopted yesterday. Their condo is now occupied by Narnia and Angel from Quarantine. Cammie had some trouble to get them to go into a carrier and ended up just picking them up and carrying them there. We did the same thing for Jagger and Ronnie. Big kittens are more tractable than adult cats!

Cammy thought it would be a good idea to let out McQueen and Donatella. Previously McQueen played around outside and Donatella stayed in the stand alone. This afternoon she came out to play and had such a good time that she didn't want to go back into the stand alone. Ginger George played ball with them.

On the other side of the Top Cat barrier, Simon and Maxwell played separately (as long as there was somebody to twitch the toy.) Later Aslan came out, climbed over the Top Cat and settled back to groom himself. When I lifted him back into his condo, he felt damp.

There is a new kitten in Incoming called Roger. He is a mess.
