Sydney rescued

 She was taken away by Ainsley's sister (and her mum). To be fostered. They brought a cat carrier but we couldn't convince Sydney to move from her circular igloo. So I suggested that they take her in the igloo. We wrapped it up in the cuddle rug that usually sits on top of it. Tied knots on the top. Had the hole carried against A's sister's belly. And away they went. They don't have too far to go. We didn't hear back so assume that they all arrived home safely.

I swept up her enclosure but had to move it out so that I could get to the litter between the walls. While I did that several nuts popped off. I have put them, and other washers in the drawer with the bulldog clips. I think the enclosures need some kind of flooring to keep the litter inside each one.

Elsa's first lot of kittens have been adopted so the next lot moved into their enclosure. I turned their hammock over.

Most of Gracie's kittens have been moved to stand alones in Welfare. The boys, George and Gino are together. And the girls, Gemma and Gwen are in another. They all seem calm if a little shy.

Winnie has come in from Foster. She is in Jane's condo below PC. She is shattered.

But PC is looking very spruce. A lovely vollie Gumptioned his condo. She even wiped his face with the cloth she was using and got some dirt off!

We got a new kitten in Incoming. Her name is Tinker Bell and her right hind leg doesn't work very well. But she seems happy and is very pretty.

Hanna Holyday

 She was adopted today! The man who adopted her previously adopted Myrtle who unfortunately was bitten by a tick and died. Hannah will be kept indoors if she does not like being anointed with Bravecto. Sharon didn't realize that until she went to spend time with Hanna after doing two people's work in the morning shift. Gone!

One of our vollies, Harper is moving to Perth to study so spent the afternoon with us to say goodbye. Rocky said that she could stay and cuddle him all the time.

I made new hammocks for the enclosures. Prue and Trude rejected theirs. No way were they going to lie on anything that smelt so NEW. But Elsa's kittens snuggled onto their new one. They are only 3 now, instead of 4. And Elsa's last two were desexed today.

Ark was in this afternoon. He reports that Opie and Pearl are doing very well. He was super useful in cleaning Cindy's kittens who might have got some aftereffect of her explosive poos on Wednesday. He had to time his cleaning duties between Cindy's feeding kittens times. He did very well.

Angus had an adventure after being let out that ended with Ark rescuing him from the top of the new enclosures.  Later he and Harper helped fill the Cousin's bins. Clean slate for poo bags tomorrow!

I got to cuddle with Jack (Luna is easy). He has a lump on his tail that feels as though it is bony. . . maybe a kink. And Elsa's black girl has a lump on her tummy (?post operative).

A lovely Liz arrived to spend time with Roxy and Trixie. She is very keen on them but needs to rehang the door to what will be to their safe room. 

A three generation girl group came (at 10 to 4) to check out our kittens. As they previously decided that they want a "white" kitten (ie before seeing any real kittens in the flesh, aka Elsa's 3) I suggested that they wait a while until Cindy's kittens are ready. I wasn't specific about how long that would take. And if Cindy et al goes to a foster home they are locals and can visit frequently.

Adoption Tails: Cleo, Mimi, Peach, Leo, Lexi

1 day: She has settled in really well so far. She is eating, and drinking, and has used the litter tray a few times. She has found a safe haven under one of their small lounges and she likes it there. She comes out when they talk to her and explores her room. Her owner has picked her up several times today and she is loving it. She is also purring. “She is a beautiful healthy baby girl”. Thank you for allowing her to become our precious beautiful girl. “We just love her so much”. They will keep her name although they sometimes call her Chloe. She may end up as CC. All she wants to do is play with her new toys when it’s bedtime.

Cleo, 1 month

 1 week: She wants to get past the screen door but her owner is a bit scared to let her roam the rest of the house. She is sitting at the back door, looking out the window. She has a couple of favourite spots. She plays with her toys, eats more, uses her litter and lets her owner pick her up. “She is going really well”. She comes to her owner when they call her.

 1 month: “Cleo is just so precious. She has fitted in so well. We just love her with so so much.”

 

Mimi, aka Minx

1 day: She’s good. She is eating well and has used the litter tray. She hides under the couch but smooches and purrs like crazy when her owner puts her hand under the couch. Her owner has gotten to pick her up once. “She is very sweet”

2.5 weeks: “She explores the whole house and is very interested in food. Very sweet. Gets lots of cuddles”

 The following day: Mimi jumped out of the window last night. Her owner has asked the neighbours and has gone out looking multiple times but there’s no sign of her. They saw her outside but she ran away.

The day after: “Mimi has just come back and looks fine and is happy. She just walked in the back door last night and gave a loud meow. She looked very well and wasn't dehydrated. Hungry of course but she wants food all the time. Very affectionate”

1 month: “She's fine apart from being obsessed with food. We have to put her in another room when we have dinner. Never had a cat so obsessed with food. Loves to play with toys we have for her.” She’s been renamed Minx. She often has lunchtime snacks of fish and chicken.

Peach's owner phoned Sydney on Christmas day. She was adopted on 20/01/2023 so it's been almost a year.

Sorry for late post

 I had to take DH out to dinner for his birthday having left for Safe while he was still asleep in the morning.

We were a bit short on vollies yesterday so I cleaned the Nursery while Sue dealt with the phone, boarders coming and going, visitors with donations, etc, etc.

Cindy had done a spectacular liquid poo that first hit the wall and then slid down under her litter tray to stain the floor of those condos that Mona Vale Vets got rid of (with good reason). I gave the kittens a towel to lie on that matches their spots. She was supposed to go to a foster home yesterday but they postponed. I hope her tummy upset is over by the time they pick her up.

Elsa is much happier/calmer now that four of her kittens have been moved to Blossom's enclosure because Blossom has been moved to Pippa's condo (as all of Bloss's bubs as well as Pippa have been adopted). Only three fitted onto the new hammock which uses Mariko's hardware.

But that is OK, because one of them has already been adopted and will be picked up this morning.

Lily was much needier than Patches. She probably wants her own hammock which should be ready on Friday afternoon.

Adoption Tails: Ted

 Ted

2 days: He’s settling into his private suite nicely. He is eating well and has used the litter tray even though it took a couple of days for him to poo. He is really interested in what’s happening beyond the door. He is doing biscuits on his new mum’s tummy and is showing how sweet he is. His mum can work a few hours from his safe room so he is getting company for a big chunk of the day. He hides under the bed when an unfamiliar noise is made outside by the pesky bush turkeys who knock on the front door for their breakfast. “We are so happy to have Ted as our new little man and are hoping he will get on with his new cat brother when they finally can get together.”

2 day

1 week: They took him to the vet for his checkup and found that he may have a murmur. He was pretty stressed in his appointment so they’ll check again next time. Other than a bit of a sniffy nose, he’s all good. He spends the day in his safe room with one of his owners keeping him company. He lays on their legs or does biscuits on them. “We are looking forward to him meeting his cat brother, they are both interested in trying to get in and out of the room so that’s fun keeping them apart.” They will begin the in-person introductions this weekend.

 

No lunch

 I usually eat my lunch in the car on the way from tennis to the cats. I came from home today a bit earlier than usual and didn't think to eat. I had a vague passing lunch thought at 2pm when I let Lola out so that she could share some with me. But that thought was swamped by yet another visitor.

Visitors ranged from a pair of primary girls and their mum having a treat away from their iPads to interact with some kittens. Good for the kittens and a good opportunity to teach a kid how to hold a kitten. (With any luck the parent is taking on the instructions as well). They stayed for ages.

Then a couple came for a companion to their boy cat. Kind of looking for a girl but rather liked the pair below Aslan for their fluffy tails, Luna and Jack. But they are moving within the month. So they will keep an eye on the website to see when J & L become available. They considered Pippa who trilled at them. Nice young couple.

Then some litter and food was dropped by a couple who didn't stay. (Thank goodness because everybody else did!)

Then an ?Japanese woman arrive with some donations. I think she is Japanese because she kept stopping herself from bowing to me and happily sat on the floor to admire the cats. She came with gifts. . . . items from first class airplane travel. I rejected the polyester comforters, the toothbrushes in paper packages but accepted the towel, baggie full of sugar, coffee, etc and the $50 note! She stayed until I threw her out at 4pm. She held the bowl of chicken while I handed it out. I wonder how she found us.

Then another young couple came in to find a companion for their teenaged rescue boy kitten. They looked at and loved everybody, especially Pippa. I gave my usual advice to take photos of the ones they really liked (all of them) and keep an eye on the web page. They went home to think. They live on Victoria Ave in Chatswood. How do I know that? They were back within half an hour with a carry cage to adopt Cherry (who will get along fine with an older kitten if she remembers her big brothers). Poor Peanut is all alone (with his mum who is coming into heat, again.)

At four I still hadn't unpacked the clean washing. But Geoff came to take over the afternoon feed. So I did that and remembered that I hadn't eaten lunch.

Bins away

The Willoughby garbage truck managed to smash one of our council bins today. There was sawdust and blue gloves all over the sidewalk. They will deliver another but it will probably take weeks. And I managed to loose the Cousins bin key. I must have chucked it in the cardboard bin with all the emptied food boxes that had littered Opies room before I flattened them. Luckily, we have spare keys. 

Yumi was adopted today. An excited voice rang in the morning to check that she was really still with us and available. She was in her stand alone so I said "come get her". Her new owner is a lovely, patient woman who sat smiling while Sue struggled to get the computer to do what it was supposed to do and to then find a way around what it wouldn't do. I only had to get Yumi into the cloth carry bag. . . . not so easy. She was very suspicious and wasn't even tempted by Greenies. But she is such a nice cat, I was allowed to pick her up and shove her in.

Pippa is in Welfare and is ready to go. She chirrups at everyone who walks by so won't last long when we get visitors.

Jack and Luna really enjoy having time out of their condo to play. All they need is a vollie to wiggle a wand toy at them

PC has moved into Kenzie's condo. He will happily entertain visitors there. No appointment required. Just come to adore him.

But poor Chad is still stuck in Incoming. He needs some of this loving.

 At one stage, I was the kitten holder for photos of Gracie's kittens. They don't like being held much and definitely don't like being pointed at by mobile phones or laptop computers. We had to microchip them to find the right ones to photograph via their microchip numbers. They all have G names and are mostly grey tabbies or grey and whites. The photos will appear on FB or similar.
